DPM may not be very inspired in naming their mods but the Casper is one hell of a nice regulated squonk mod. It is so nice, I'm tempted to join FB just to order that one.

God honest truth, JL, that Casper mod sure has me drooling. I mean I wanted to sell the mechs I have and order a BAM mod, but the Casper has me reconsider the BAM mod idea.
Not my style. But I can see the appeal

They sure are nice, but they seem a little bulky. I think I'll wait for my SV mod first. They do look nice at first blush, there's something that makes them look like they're on steroids, they lack the smooth, subtle lines.

just have someone with facebook reach out to them for you hahaha. i contacted them via facebook PM... but its pretty probable that they would be ok to do business through email.

I just got my CV mod and it is my 1st mech sqounker. I am loving it so far and was wondering if there are any mech sqounkers that are durable, or maybe extra durable. I ask because I work on a dock and drive a forklift for part of my shift. I have dropped many mods and they haven't fared well against the concrete.

The CV squonks are in that category, the brass ones will damn near need a forklift to carry around. Maybe a Boxer will fit the bill, FT and 3F have the clones at a very reasonable price.

There's more than there used to be, but the "grandaddy" of durable squonkers is STILL the one I take on the road.
I've dropped my LP Reo Grand dozens of times. It's milled from a block of aluminum.
Worst damage is the rails the door rides on can bend a little...so I bend 'em back with the tip of a screwdriver, and it's good as new.

The LP Grand looks a little funky to me with a 22mm atomizer on it - there's a landing deck that's about 20mm.
So if you use small atties, or don't care, that's fine.
If you like 22 and 24, and don't like that overhang, you get the P67.

They are not cheap. But they are forever.

Very bad of me not to mention the "gold standard" in mech squonk mods, you are right, REO are tough, but then again, so are CC and a few others but spending a few hundreds is not easy, not for me at least.

Will second this on toughness - they are a work horse and worth it, even if you have to save up to get one

The CV is a great starter when you are on a budget, tough little suckers. They need more maintenance than an REO, but are about a $150 less

Was a little disappointed in the CC. Body is an amazing work of art, the internals need serious maintenance, as does another tough, the Tmod

Another thing I like the REO and CVs for working and traveling is the locking fire buttons

I have heard they (Reos) can't handle the lower ~.18 ohm builds. Is there any truth to this?

Like others, I would suggest Reos, or Reo clones. I might also suggest the CVs as well. The brass ones are indeed hefty.

Eh, hit the number 40 on squonk mods about 10 days ago - think I'll give it a rest unless something truly special, unique or groundbreaking appears ;)

* sets down a shovel with a price tag of $20, puts up sign reading "Groundbreaking" ... just knows he'll profit * :) :p

"810 drip tip rule"

Goon22, 2 Gorges, and one Pulse22..

Hm wonder now if that'll fit a 24mm Goon. If so, now I know what dang size tips to get. *chuckles*

From one chronic caver to another

Oh. Ooops, thought I read something else there for a minute. A clock stuck at 4:20 is right at least twice a day.

Had an incident today. Kind of shook me up a bit. I had dropped a Coppervape mod's battery cover on our deck here. Well, went to putting a battery in, putting the cover back on and all seemed okay. Suddenly, the mod itself got quite hot. I pulled the top off the mod disconnecting it from the battery circuit. The battery was hot, got the cover off and slipped battery out of the mod. Took the battery outside wrapped in a washcloth to avoid hot hands. Put it down in a safe spot.

What I can only figure is there was dirt on the cover, I did not see or otherwise feel. That must have tripped off the battery when it made full contacts. It was an Efest battery and so I had to hear flack from wife's bro in law. Explained to him simple enough what it is to be human and not some god on a high horse, having the capacity to make mistakes. "Had bought those prior to knowing Efest was idiots, had 'em so kept using them, till I couldn't," I told him.

Ah but then he has to point out I was sub ohming on them. I know from many a discussion here if batteries are labeled to be 20+amps continuous discharge my 0.70 (R) set up was fine. Yes, I also know too that Efest mislabels their batteries. Was there a chance of risk? Sure. Did I feel I was acting unwisely? No, not at all. For one thing I was using the information provided in the situation, it was what was at hand. Yes, I made a call to both sub ohm and use batteries with a chance of risk. No problem fessing to that.

Problem is I don't like being made to feel stupid, childish over a mistake that I may or may not have had too much control over. He does that, too. Wife calls him an asshat, inclined to agree with her assesment. I still do not feel I was "out of line" having used the battery as I did, granted i might not have and spared a bit of risk. Point being though that was my call based on what I understood and I saw minimal risk versus more reward in actually vaping. He of course being Mr. Perfect (never mind him ruining my wife's Rodeo truck by trying to move it in 2-3 foot of snow & he was in a hell of a rip trying to move it too, after me and her both figured it was better to let it set), never ever makes any mistakes. I say he can go join the Bozos & unfuck himself. People like that & me just don't mix.

He never apologized for the Rodeo, never offered to help pay to repair, offered to help do body work, nada. I once was talking to her dad and told her dad roughly that I did not feel "up to par" enough to get back to outward professional work. Wife's BIL interjected himself into our conversation to say I'd never been professional at all in my life. .... Yeah, alright there ... gee, U.S. Navy sure as fuck doesn't teach professionalism, no way, not at all. I spoke to his brother once and explained he still had a brother due to me being professional. His brother got it, got real quick.

I apologize for dumping garbage like this here. Rather not have it to deal with at all, rather me and wife have our own quiet little home/homestead without her sister & company up our asses. Presently, that's a little bit on hold until we get caught back up. She had to go through another truck to get to her Jeep she has now. Her BIL and sister both have been very aware that I got real nasty with her, got furious, got all sorts of blowing my stack insane and forbid them from even thinking about borrowing, touching or breathing on her Jeep. In truth I did not get so out of hand, she herself got a bit irate though and I think I probably could easily enough.

Damn shame a fella has to not be himself and not be able to relax. Oh well as someone famous once told me, I survive. :) I love and get loved, guess that's enough to weather anything. :) Thank y'all for tolerating some rubbish.

Is it ok to vape lower ohm builds on the CV? I just installed some .17 0hm SS claptons on the hadaly for it.
Sorry for all the questions, I don't want to push the mod too hard.

Trying to understand how dirt on the battery cap could cause a short.
Would think it would just not complete the connection, and not fire.
Glad you caught it quickly.

Vtc5a's. I calculated the amps at 4.2 also to make sure I was within amp limits. I'm only at 24.7 amps.

Yep. You are safe.

Just with the volt sag it might not be a great vape. And if it's very thick or twisted/clapton then ramp up may be slow

You gotta be you. Fuck everyone that can't understand that. I hate having to pretend I'm someone I'm not while at work. I refuse to do so in my own dwelling. BIL as you describe, sounds exactly like an asshat to me.

My father was the type of person that made you feel "never good enough". He's staying with my wife and I for a short time in order to save some money to purchase a house. When he first arrived he tried to play daddy. I had to put my foot down almost immediately. I gave him the ol' "under my roof" spiel. He got the point.

Sometimes it's best to be bold, and forward. Easier to come to an understanding. Stand on common ground, or at the least, respect one another's stance.

I think many of us have "Family" who thinks less of us. My wifes parents can eat a dick...Heck the last time my Mother in Law visited us here in San Diego, I kicked her out about 45 minutes of her arrival and sent her to our cousins across town... All because she feels she has this false sense of entitlement over me (That and Filipino Custom abuse )

My poor wife though caught in the middle...I tell her, " I'll never ask you to choose sides, all I ask is you objectively see what transpires and listen to the words and mannerisms used, and you will know I was more than tolerant."

On a side note...our 3 bedroom Condo here in SD, the 2 spare rooms don't have beds for a reason now ( My evil plan) lol...One is set up as my "Office" other converted to a wardrobe for the wife...

Me: Wife, I have an awesome idea for the 3rd bedroom...

Wife: Yes?

Me: I can easily convert that room into a full on walk in wardrobe for you and it won't take much...a few shelves for your shoes, it has great lighting for your make up...and before I finished explaining she was hooked on the idea.

Wife: Oh that sounds perfect...

Me: next day was converted... Inner voice... No more in-law stays cause no where to sleep.

Eh, well all i ken think on is setting here and clipping coil wire what ends up on the floor. Yep I get lazy and forget where I put the on button for the broom. Beyond that not sure, maybe just time for the battery, an efest, to go kaput, or gravitational pull of jupiter in uranus. (sorry, it's been a really hehe interesting day).

Think I pissed her sis off by sitting somewhere at supper. She couldn't just ask me to move out of where she had been sitting before I got there. I would have gladly moved too. But no one asked. Nah, she had to get all pissy, threaten to run back up to the house without eating. I just ignored it save to note it going on.

Was out pulling a mad dog. ha! right before it started up a rain/storm i go out and run the motor scythe round our 'swamp' and get it squared back up. Wind was feeling real sweet on me. i was out in nothing but silk boxers, shorts, boat shoes. Woot! Guess I do frighten our neighbor, damn werewolf in me anyway *chuckles*

That's the cinch here. my wife bless her is working and paying near all the bills. There's no rent, no mortgage here as it is rightly her dad's house. Well she's floating all the bills, got car payment too and upkeep on that. I would love to attempt getting back into something beyond working the homestead/home but I've a few different physical difficulties. They aren't exactly life threatening or full on debilitating, yet add them up and then add in some minor mental horse turds and I wind up being a mess.

I could understand if I were a goldbricker. never have been. I worked from age 15 on up until about two, maybe three year ago. Been one to do near damn anything, worked grocery store, fast food joints (various over the years), poultry processing, nursing home, apple product lines, farm hand at various farms, stock yard hand, volunteered as emt/fireman/part time security police adjunct patrol, worked as a janitor, did publish a book of poetry. See, I been there and done that. i've welded, forged, took a bulldozer boogey off & fix its track, i just get into whatever. *chuckles* Goldbricking? me ? Um, nope.

I've done longshoreman inland work too. It's not that I'm exactly incapable but as I've aged, I've gotten slower, gotten more dazed from living, working playing hard. Time catches up if I stop and sit still. yeah, like a shark, need to keep swimming. That's living for all of us, least ways i hear it.

Still, even not our home we do live here too. With her paying bills I feel we ought to be able to feel part of family. Pfft. I've never been made to feel so except from her mom and grand dad. Her sis and BIL as we've discussed between us are psychotics, narcissistic. I treat my dogs far better than they can or will treat their human sons. But i'm not to say anything. not to ask any of them for help with anything, it's too much bother.

Lots of times there's plenty around here I do not do, simply because I'm not going to go beg to do, to find material/tools. Or i don't do because it specifically isn't ours, won't ever be. her bill does work if you call part timing at the kroger gas station working. But they only offer $50 a month to cover her sis's cell phone. But anyway. i'm not supposed to care, not supposed to say a thing.

Be myself? No not that at all, no privacy enough for it. Me and her used to be bunnies. ha, now we just as well be nun and monk.Awe well least we're living. :)

Dang - I was just re-going through a few things I got from the late great Hank F Spankman.

Was gonna give his black 22mm Goon a whirl - and he had it rigged up kinda funny. Had a standard 510 converter for the drip tip - but the DT was inverted - turns out it seats perfectly on the Hadaly

Wonder where he got it?

Looks like Stumpy?

Sorry...I'm just confuzzled.

Tips that hug the Hadaly also hug the Stumpy perfectly

He had a converter on the baby Goon to accommodate a regular 510 DT but it was boosted up to use this DT

Hard to describe - I already disassembled it off the Goon

edit - if that's what you meant, tho - tip fits a Stumpy, maybe could he have got one of the Signature tips??? I have a Signature tip - the Hadaly ones - on a Stumpy.
:)

Definitely not a Signature tip - I have Sigs on the Hadaly and Stumpy - this is designed a little different

The hole is wider for larger inhale on this jobber

Aww man, ive been really wanting to get one of the new square cappys. I think there called squappys..lol That one look to be square and a near match to my setup. Guess i have a fasttech order in my future. I just placed a order from china for a couple sjmy silicone bottles to try out.

So far im not liking any silicone bottles better than my Silkys and Cappys. Maybe its just a mental thing. Will see when these sjmy bottles show up.

I just make the wick long enough to touch the bottom without a whole lot of extra. Keep in mind I squonk with a Goon RDA. I've read that the Halady is just an easy RDA to over squonk with. Try not squonking as often or squonking as hard.

The time I did try and put more cotton in the Goon I wound up just squonking juice out the air holes.

Like these two cheap squonkers so far, the 160 is for driving and work. The biggest gripe with the 160 is the non adjustable 510, some bf attys won't make contact and the ones that do don't sit flush, oh well serves it purpose and vapes great. Haven't had time to mess with the inbox much, I'll play around with it this weekend.

Guys ohm do you prefer in single coil 22 mm RDA for squonking......i was using .17 Ni80 coils on my Hadaly clone and i am getting too much spit back.....

Hadaly is more of a flavor RDA and is meant for a higher resistances. For example, I have a .35 316L fused clapton in mine and I get no spit back at all. Cheers!

Okay, sooo..
The Soul S...
Incredible. But not without its quirks.
I don't know why or how... but it produces a super nice vape. Along the lines of the Hadaly but more flavor and better airflow (for me at least, I like the Hadaly but always seems a little too restricted) I have a 28 SS / 24 N single coil, 5 wraps.. 3/4 open airflow on each side.
Buttery smooth, massive flavor & thick creamy plumes.. I draw on it with short light inhales and it's super nice and hits hard.
The quirks:
Oversquonking is a problem, but after a day, I've got the squeeze resistance dialed in, just takes some getting used to.
The deck is odd with the 6 posts for sure. Building isn't the easiest, but my build is fairly beefy so will experiment with some different stuff and see what's best. I had my coil guy make opposing legs ala Hadaly, learned right off it's best to trim them exact before installing. Machining seems much nicer than the Hadaly. Grub screws aren't my favorite but they work well here.
Did some research and the popular build is a dual coil, but top to tail with one wick as if it were one long coil. Anxious to check that out.
The stock delrin driptip is alright, but with the Hadaly Signature Tip the draw is awesome. Also wraps around the 510 lip like the Hadaly ones, love the low profile look on this one especially, with the tip you see just a bit of the roundly bell/nipple design, aesthetically pleasing to me. These Signature tips are so sweet(!) Wish they were more readily available in the States.
Not loving the green slam cap as of yet, but it's due to my build, it's too warm of a vape for me. But the tip is built in and it's really nice on the lips, the cap itself doesn't get hot at all. Looking forward to trying it with another build to cool down the vape.
If you take a powerful draw on the Soul S, it whistles a bit. Not majorly, but more than I'm accustomed to.
Basically, this thing performs like a suped-up Hadaly. Flavor is considerably better. And more airflow & bigger clouds. Kinda like if the Goon 22 was designed as a flavor tank. I say that because the clouds are more dense & velvety along the lines of a chaser atty, but with a restricted airflow.
It's kinda hard to explain!
Another case of where a 'test drive' would be a big help.
Me personally, I'm really liking it. But I've kinda been all over the map with attys lately so will see how I feel after more time.
For me at this point in time it's exactly what I've been looking for, I've been going back and forth from the Apocalypse and the Goon & Hadaly and this is a great compromise.
Best of em all... Perfect mix of delicious flavor and thick clouds.
Cheers!

PS: Note to self. Need to just buy 3mg nic from now on. Was alternating between 6 & 3 but getting headrushy every now and again...
Finally after 6 years I'm dropping to 3 ; )

Glad it's good!
Would like to see a pic with the Sig tip on it...:)
