I Am relatively new to mixing and was wondering if any more experienced mixers could help me with a good starting point for a milkshake.

I've got several flavors from several vendors. I guess I am more looking for other peoples recipes and tips on how I could perfect my own.

There's a large DIY section in the forum where you can look at recipes.
or
www.e-liquid-recipes.com (look for Mustard Milk)
or
http://www.lediypourlesnuls.com/ <--great French site in English (Clones)
or
http://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/1ivjog/mega_tfa_tpa_recipe_thread/ (TFA/TPA)
http://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/350kul/solid_list_of_diy_clones/ <--Clones
or
Reddit... look at the right side "Sidebar" for recipes by manufacturer.
or
http://www.kritikalmass.net/products.asp?cat=Clone+Recipes

and..
It would probably help the real experts if you could say what brand of flavorings you are using. (FA, tfa, Capella, Flavor West...etc..etc..)

Good luck, DIY is fun and rewarding.

Milkshake, Malt, & Ice Cream are a bit difficult to imitate exactly IMO.

Some flavors to start with:
TFA Malted Milk
TFA/CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream v1
TFA French Vanilla Deluxe
TFA Vanilla Swirl
TFA Tres Leches
TFA Dairy Milk
TFA Brown Sugar
TFA Caramel (Original)
TFA Vanillin
TFA Cotton Candy or EM(small amounts)
NF Organic Malt
FW Milk
TFA/CAP Sweet Cream
Hangsen Cream
FA Fresh Cream
FA Vienna Cream
FA Vanilla Classic
INW Vanilla Bourbon
CAP Vanilla Custard v1
CAP/TFA Whipped Cream & Marshmallow
DIYFS French Vanilla and/or Holy Vanilla
Sweetener(may need a small amount)

Probably missed a few.

And then do lots of experimentation with different combinations...
Shake & Vape just doesn't work with these IMO.
These need steeping to develop fully, sometimes up to a month.
This is why it's so hard to come up with winners as it takes forever to test them.

That was exactly what I was looking for thank you. I actually have most of these flavors and I will be getting the rest soon.
my god though month long steep time? can you kinda clue me in on the flavors in particular you've dealt with that have those long steeps?
Better yet can you just give me your general steep time for each?

I'd try them at 24hrs and then a week first.
If they don't taste right, put them away for another week and taste it again.
Creams & Vanillas need some time to meld together, high VG mixes it takes longer IMO.
Custard usually takes the longest, but when using smaller amounts like 1-3% it doesn't take as long.
But by using so many different flavors that extends it a bit longer.
You might be using 10 different flavors, or more.
(Mama J's Game Over Custard has 10 flavors mixed in).
Some at 2-5%, some at 1-2%, and some at maybe 0.5%
If they taste pretty good at 1 week they might be better in 2 weeks or 4.
Or some flavors fade and others get stronger.
You can also start simple with 2-3 flavors, probably good in a week.
But nothing says you can't try it right away.
I usually start with:
4-5% Vanilla Bean + 4-5% French Vanilla Del.
Then add in some other flavors at 0.5 - 1%
