I'll be interested to know how you like the DNA! I'm a bit off expensive mods with the demise of my SX...
I'm with you on that one! I have my LDE ZNA and my MCM ... both very expensive and also now obsolete! I don't have the vape budget to support expensive mods, although I wish I did!

Ok I have my 1.2 ohm Crown coils. Verdict: totally different vape. Flavor is still good, vapor is much less (obviously), and I'm frustrated that I can't turn it up beyond 30 watts! Much better for the car or for taking out and about though, since the vapor isn't obnoxious, and it won't cloud the windscreen. They definitely have a place, but I'd prefer the 0.25 coils (which seem to be out of stock everywhere). I've only vaped 1/4 tank though, so maybe more later.

I own three crown tanks and bought my first one when they first came out. You need to give the coils a good day to break in before they reach their full potential. I have the 1.2ohm coils as well. I need to give them a try.

I am excited about it. Only reason I was able to do it was my custom order for the SX M was not yet started. After I saw the SX ML was coming out I got excited only to learn that will use the 350J V2 board and the original would not be upgradable and you would have to get the V2. Since I had already paid for the custom job, I was able to change the order and go with a more versatile mod such as the DNA for no additional money. I am excited to put this crown with SS coils in TC mode... I will def update you once I have it running which should be a few weeks from today.

@TheVapingDevil where did you order the DNA 200 from?
Its a long story but I am having a custom job built by Vapor Lips. They are great people and offer almost any option you like. Check out their website. Their prices are great and offer hard power coating, and custom engraving if you like. OH AND VERY IMPORTANT A LIFETIME WARRANTY. They have a long leadtime but thats to be expected with this type of custom work.

Im back on the crown with ni200 and TC'ing with the VTC mini. Really liking the reproducible vape quality it gives. Still like the SS coils for flavor a bit more but kinda enjoying the TC vape. Hope the VTC Mini gets a SS update, though ive heard not to expect that. Id even be willing to pay for that.

Ouch ... it pains me to see perfectly good gear get tossed like that! :D
It depends on your definition of good gear. Like comparing a Volkswagen to a Porsche, they both get you to where you're going but the performance of the Porsche is awesome !! I'll take the Porsche every time, lol

Does anyone know how to take the glass out of the Crown? One of my tanks (only one) has a tendency to spit and it's wet on the outisde in the mornings (leaking from somewhere) and I want to change the o rings. But I'd rather not break the glass, and I'm assuming I just have to pull it?

Sure..unscrew the base with the coil and set it aside.. Then unscrew the bottom hardware from the top hardware, I use a paper towel to help get a grip as taking mine apart the first time was a little tight..once apart remove the glass..thats it..I think Rip Trippers has a video review on the Crown, but I'm not sure...sorry I couldn't help you more..

I've spent some time with my Crown now. It's an awesome tank. The machining is stellar, good flavor, nice design, etc. All been said before.

My next purchase will be another Super Tank though. It's just a more pleasurable vape to me. I like several things about the Crown better but not enough to get another one. There are things that drive me nuts about the Super Tank but once it's together, game over dude.

Is the Super Tank v3 out yet? ;) V1 has been out for months.

So that I'm clear - it unscrews, not pulls? I'll give it a go - thanks!

If it's a full size TST and you throw in some coils, you have a deal. Not looking to ditch the Crown necessarily, I can totally make do with it if I have to. :)

The TFV4 looks purpose built on my Sigelei 150tc. Can't wait to get some nickel coils. But yeah, a mini would be nice, but where will they squeeze in that monster coil assembly?

I'm so behind the times. Using Atlantis v1 with iStick 50w. If I get the crown it looks like I'm going to need a more powerful mod as well.

Yes but you can get an Istick 100 watt for $26 in Joe's deal today ;-)

I run my 0.25 at around 70 watts, and the 0.5 at around 60-65 watts.

Absolutely sweet this deal, I know I posted in another thread that even at $30 I wouldn't buy one *very bad 50w experience twice...
but I picked up one for $27 (had to spend 3.50 more on a white case for a friend to get free shipping so 30.50...and free gift...lol)
It's only because the Crown is so awesome on a .25 at about 65W and it was making me change batteries 3X a day on my D2

im up to 85 watts and still need more on the .25

I'm really good at like 66.6W....that's typically where gurgling stops for me with 70VG mix

I took it past 70 a few times and it was too warm for my style of semi regular spurt chain vaping...

im trying really hard to figure this out. maybe after reading how great everyone said it is, i was expecting more. its a good tank no doubt, but for all the rantings and ravings its getting, for me I just dont see why

It didn't blow me away either, compared to my drippers. I realized, though, that I had really missed the convenience of a tank, so I've been using it for the week that I've had it. The convenience factor has made it grow on me, but I think, eventually, it will be more of an out and about choice than my sole choice.

It's possible you expected rainbows and unicorns. I'm susceptible to that. The thing with me is I have no experience with a lot of gear. I try and say that. My opinion doesn't carry much weight. I just know it's world's better that what I had. But plenty of others seem to concur.

With out all the hype... It at least seems to be one of the top. So does the TFV4. Without trying one myself, I sort of think some of it is just cool factor. Features are features. Performance is what matters, and the Smok seems to equal. I've read about 4 or 5 others. Maybe things will. Settle down soon and more time will temper some enthusiasm. All I know is I love mine. :)

So where is it falling short?

Well, everyone's tastes are different, maybe that accounts for some of it? I don't have one yet, but like you, I have pretty high expectations based on all the comments.

Are you comparing this with something you already have/use? A certain style you vape, like dripping? I drip 90% of the time myself. I have drippers that perform better, and some that don't. What I like about it is that it gives me close to a dripper flavor with the convenience to leave the drippers at home. What I don't like is that it guzzles more than I would drip, only because i can't put it down. It's not like the tank is some sort of holy grail item, it's just a tank that most find, works really well. Nobody has to love it. I like it a lot though. It won't replace all my drippers, but gives most of them reason to collect dust.

Well said!
I agree 100% as this tank does use a lot of juice, but clouds and flavor rival some of my best RDA's... I really love the Crown, as it's simply the best tank I've ever vaped to date.. .especially with the .25 at 60-62w...

i may write a full review of my opinion on the crown later.. for now ive used the .25 coil for a day and am on the .5 coils now

does it have great flavor....yes
are there drawbacks....yes

the afc ring was poorly thought out for one

i have many great things to say about this tank but many not so great things to say about it as well.

now ive used the same 2 flavors, hic's 3MM and my own peach/mango cream for my comparisons
and compared it against the only two subtanks Ive owned ..the maganus and the STM

Its flavor production is SIGNIFICANTLY better then an STM
However when comparing it against the Maganus....comparing the flavor between the two is negligible IMHO

I can notice a slight difference between SS and Ni200. ATM Im leaning towards SS for a cleaner less metallic taste.

SO the crown definitely has its advantages, but its power and juice hungry..almost to the point where it could be a significant trade off in comparison to the maganus

I will load up the Ni200 coil into the crown and compare it to the maganus in TC mode. I havent used the magnus much in power mode, mainly TC so putting the crown in TC mode with ni200 should give me the final comparison I need.

Nothing is perfect.., but I disagree with most all your negative remarks on the Crown....I have both the Maganus and Crown and definitely like the superb flavor and vapor produced with the SS/Japanese cotton used in the Crown... I also love I fill it from the top, without unscrewing it from the mod..airflow ring works great for me...

here is why i dislike the afc ring

1. i prefer that the afc ring have a stop bar and not go 360. thats a preference thing
but
2. its bigger then the rest of the tank.

So yesterday the tank was stuck to my 3li the afc ring was in the way of my fingers gripping the base, and a pair of pliers were ineffective as well. I had to use a rag and a lot of luck to get it unstuck.

Now the maganus has a similar issue, in fact its base ring is so small below the afc its pointless. But with the maganus having a stop bar for the afc, you can use it to unstick the base.

so imho the crown needs to make the afc flush or have a stop bar.

the crown and maganus use the exact same cotton pads in their coils. i suspect one company makes both coils. So the cotton does not change the flavor between the coils

I suspect the only difference in flavor is
1. slight airflow differences
and
2. SS versus kanthal.

i definitely think the crown is a great tank. But not that great that all my other tanks are going in the garbage or in a drawer as others have stated.
once i get the ni200 coil in it, and i compare side by side the maganus and crown with the same coil, I can get a better handle on if one is truly superior in flavor production.

I can agree with the base ring. So far my only complaint is that I have not figured out how to take the AFC valve apart. I don't know if I can just pull it off. In order to clean I guess I'll have to soak it.

But I will say I like it being bigger than the tank because it's much easier to grab. The mini is flush and it was a bit of a PITA.

My guess is Uwell makes the magnus coils since they make coils for many.

i bet your right since the coils are almost IDENTICAL except in height.

now i just loaded the ni200 coil

first thing I noticed was the fact theres no ohm fluctuation. On my maganus and STM it takes several tries, removing the coil and putting it back in, etc etc to get the devices to read the right resistance. not with the crown. first try it said .162, 10 tries later and some fiddling and it read .162 every time.

SO thats a major plus for the crown

started it at 50j what a mistake. the second the vape hit my tongue it was NASTY almost burnt tasting. Dropped to 10j and took a drag. NOthing really coming out, which I expected. But then My 3li said too hot for like 1 minute before I couls use it again. Ive never had that happen before. SO that concerns me, but could just be a fluke.
20J got some vapor and flavor. but the flavor was off. moved to 30j more flavor and vapor but it was still off, almost had a rubber like taste to it. I noticed the same taste on both SS coils for a several draws as well. I am up to 40J now. And the flavor is still rubber tasting but that is starting to go away like it did with the SS. Now moved to 50J .

So far my initial reaction to flavor comparison is this.
The crown is on my 3li
the maganus is on the d2
both at 50J and 572F
same flavor from same bottle
HIc's 3MM

I feel Im getting different flavors standing out between the 2 tanks.

The maganus is SWEETER
the crown is smooth and less metallic and the AP seems to be standing out much more

Ill go through a tank or so and see if it changes. Maybe these coils need broken in or osmething

And you see I like the AFC ring because it is raised..its very easy to adjust....I never screw down a tank so hard on my IPV4 (or any of my mods) I had to use pliers to get it off..I'm sure the raised AFC ring wasn't designed for guys who have to use tools taking the tank off the mod anyway...
And a stop isn't a big deal for me, I mean it's nice I suppose, but I don't need it...I always look at the AFC when I adjust it anyway and know where I want it set at...again that's a preference thing...

Off topic a bit and some old news but I fired up my sig elite tank with ni200 coil at 60 watts and 500 degrees. It's very nice. I wanted to vape tc style and was too lazy to change mod tanks around so this was it. Not a bad little tank at all.
The crown is still king and I love my afc ring as well
