Again with your deflection. Typical.Hahahha... OK, I will... Thanks for being sooo much better than I and putting me in my place. I will now start praying to you and your infinite knowledge and wisdom..
If you follow history, it began being trampled under Lincoln.Your not defending my rights from a single person. Nor do you defend the ways of the people. Our constitution has been under fire here at home for the last 8 years, where were you on that?
Here is a list of the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights:
The First Amendment - states that Congress shall make no law preventing the establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. Also protected are freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The Second Amendment - protects citizen's right to bear arms.
The Third Amendment - prevents the government from placing troops in private homes. This was a real problem during the American Revolutionary War.
The Fourth Amendment - this amendment prevents the government from unreasonable search and seizure of the property of US citizens. It requires the government to have a warrant that was issued by a judge and based on probable cause.
The Fifth Amendment - The Fifth Amendment is famous for people saying "I'll take the Fifth". This gives people the right to choose not to testify in court if they feel their own testimony will incriminate themselves.
In addition this amendment protects citizens from being subject to criminal prosecution and punishment without due process. It also prevents people from being tried for the same crime twice. The amendment also establishes the power of eminent domain, which means that private property can not be seized for public use without just compensation.
The Sixth Amendment - guarantees a speedy trial by a jury of one's peers. Also, people accused are to be informed of the crimes with which they are charged and have the right to confront the witnesses brought by the government. The amendment also provides the accused the right to compel testimony from witnesses, and to legal representation (meaning the government has to provide a lawyer).
The Seventh Amendment - provides that civil cases also be tried by jury.
The Eighth Amendment - prohibits excessive bail, excessive fines, and cruel and unusual punishments.
The Ninth Amendment - states that the list of rights described in the Constitution is not exhaustive, and that the people still have all the rights that are not listed.
The Tenth Amendment - gives all powers not specifically given to the United States government in the Constitution, to either the states or to the people.
Ever since our entry in the Iraqi and Afghan war zones. These Rights have been broken, trampled and torn apart...Great job protecting them.
Why would I go to your Thread? I'm not religious... Anyone is welcome here as long it's a civilized debate...This thread wasn't meant to have a poke but it's a place where Atheists or Logical, Rational and Scientific thinking can take place..I personally don't think religion comes under those things and that's my Logical, Rational and Scientific thinking based on facts ...Again this thread isn't just about Religion but it is about and for some people who have the same outlook, views and thoughts Theories..etc...Like I said in my first post...It's not here to bash anyone and to show some respect but some people by the looks of it haven't taken it that way...I guess the bigger went over their heads and they only saw what they wanted to see and got offended by it and stooped down to name calling...I mean come on really?...Saying someone is a troll or asshole where the person being myself was just being thought provoking which is healthy and wanted a thread where anyone who is a Atheist can have acivilized, interesting, stimulating talk with facts and debates to take place...I'm going to post some Scientific stuff later that has nothing to do with religionAnd Ash...I humbly appreciate your stance on not coming into my thread to debate matters...and I have asked those who DO frequent my thread, to show you the same consideration and respect.
Yes Master... Sorry Master..Again with your deflection. Typical.
So why on earth would you come in here and just say "I hate this thread"? not much to go on there.. Is it because it's for Logical, Rational and Scientific thinking and debate?..If so you just made your casei hate this thread.
Why WOULDN'T you? I am not religious either! In my ministry, I do not sell the Church...nor will I ever. You will find more words of encouragement and love than anything else there...that is what it is forWhy would I go to your Thread? I'm not religious... Well that was quite judgemental....which flies in the face of your OP.So why on earth would you come in here and just say "I hate this thread"? not much to go on there.. Is it because it's for Logical, Rational and Scientific thinking and debate?..If so you just made your case
i hate this thread.
But the current conflict started in 1989 under the Reagan admin. The failings of the CIA support in the Mujahideen and rebuild critical education and industry infrastructure after the Soviet collapse lead directly to the rise of the Taliban. ** started earlier as a covert arming and training of the Mujahideen, used 1989 as the open support post soviet collapse. If you follow history, it began being trampled under Lincoln.
Just saying "I hate this thread" with no reason behind and me saying that doesn't make me judgmental when this thread is about logical, rational debate it's being a observant fact..If you don't like a place why would you go there let alone post in it?...I know if I didn't like a place I sure wouldn't go there or post in it...But hey that's just meWell that was quite judgmental....which flies in the face of your OP.
Hey you...long time no seeStill waiting for a single coherent argument?
MightyMen certainly would have fun here.![]()
To tell you the truth the "Pray" in the title was a bit of a turn off plus I didn't want to start any trouble especially what happened in AU...so I didn't even look in itWhy WOULDN'T you? I am not religious either! In my ministry, I do not sell the Church...nor will I ever. You will find more words of encouragement and love than anything else there...that is what it is for. You would not be judged...nobody will criticise you....hell...nobody will even know you are there! I come here out of a desire to support and engage in friendly discussion. I have no fear of being noticed as the token forum preacher...and as you can see...nobody really gives a toss that I am. I should imagine that you would have no issue or fear of being judged by coming over to my place...unless of course there is something else that exists. Again, I do not preach to people...I offer up words of wisdom...mostly my own...and offer prayers to those that request them. I'm just offering up the invitation....you have nothing to lose whatsoever....and perhaps, might walk away with something useful
. Remember sir...I came here and have not judged...I am certain you can do the same.
When ever we say "hope" or "wish" we are praying...to WHOM...well who knows...but we are certainly not addressing a beaker or some Pythagorean formulae. And there is a lot to say about self control...agreed?To tell you the truth the "Pray" in the title was a bit of a turn off plus I didn't want to start any trouble especially what happened in AU...so I didn't even look in it
It is highly possible that you may have made more out of it than necessary. You said something...a rebuttal was made....end of story, or at least it COULD have been the end of the story. The hypocrisy is that in THIS thread....some things are said by others....rebuttals were made by you....and in one case, it was suggested that one leave because their response was not favoured.....that seems to smack of censorship in some passive aggressive way would you not think? Now, before you answer, consider this. Nobody has/had the power to prevent you from saying whatever you please, for as long as you please...the same circumstance exists here correct? Now Censorship in it's historical context, was exemplified by the outright banning of word and thought, as well as action (Pol Pot). Is there not a difference? Would it not be...in your words....LOGICAL to believe that if one is not expressly PREVENTED from thinking/acting/writing/speaking a thought...that censorship does not in fact exist? Bear in mind that I just answered the question for you.To tell you the truth the "Pray" in the title was a bit of a turn off plus I didn't want to start any trouble especially what happened in AU...so I didn't even look in it
Wow what are the oddsWhen ever we say "hope" or "wish" we are praying...to WHOM...well who knows...but we are certainly not addressing a beaker or some Pythagorean formulae. And there is a lot to say about self control...agreed?
First off..I didn't tell anyone to leave..My statement was...If you don't like it why on earth come here...Big difference! and a valid on at that...I don't go to places I don't don't like or care for...I don't see a problem with that...If I want someone to leave and trust me on this...I will say it strightIt is highly possible that you may have made more out of it than necessary. Ok...this has become a matter of others speaking for you, and that is fine!Wow what are the odds.."hope" or "wish" This is the Video I was thinking about when I said my next thing was going to be Scientific...See I see "Hope and Wish" as Probability and Chance...If you pray for something and it happens the Probability and chance was in your favor just like in gambling or making a dissension if not calculated
Wow... do you have a memory problem?...I said some time back that I was going to post some scientific stuff...This video was that.. it just so happened that it went with what you said with Pray and I made connection ...what was the odds of that?... It' was a Probability and Chance thing... either it's going to happen or not (mathematical odds)..I was going to post that anyway...Well I hope all your prays (Probability and Chance) go your wayOk...this has become a matter of others speaking for you, and that is fine!
When you can make all of your own arguments without relying on the video and/or written wisdom of others, let me know, you know where to find me. In the meantime, enjoy your thread.
How the hell did I miss this one..I fully agree that the constitution has been under fire for many years now... Anyway a great man once said... Nor do you defend the ways of the people. Our constitution has been under fire here at home for the last 8 years, where were you on that?

"God said". To whom ? We cannot know what god said to someone else because he didn't say it to us. God has never "said" anything to me and the bible was obviously written by a human. So nothing can be proven. So why argue?First you say: "Something can not be created from nothing."
Then you say: "God said he always was and always will be."
If god is a thing, then he had to be created. Otherwise, he is not a thing and does not exist
If god said: "no man will ever know how he will became" then it means there was something before him, something that created him. After all, you said "it would take something to make something"
"it would have to take something that has always existed to create all"
So that thing that was in existence created the god that you believe created all? That's like a snake eating it's own tail forever, or an infinate loop in programming. Or, saying the first chicken hatched out of the first egg that was lain by the first chicken. Going back in time and screwing your grandmother so you are your own grandfather.
You pretty much just typed a whole lot of hypocritical stuff that completely counteracts all the stuff you say is true. If god came to be, then he is a thing that was created. That means he is not the highest power because something had to create him.
The only true fact is that humans will never know what created the universe as it can not be proven.
This thread wasn't meant for a pissing match..It's for debate and not just about religion ..Some people didn't see it that way...I'm glad you posted and stating you are a atheistI am an atheist however I do not try to argue. If you believe something you believe it. I myself do not.
I am an atheist however I do not try to argue. If you believe something you believe it. I myself do not.
This thread isn't just about religion...I added the atheism well because there are not to many of us around and I thought it would be nice to meet others with the same view as well...You can talk about pretty much anything you like or post something you find interesting that you would like to shareThis.
That's the problem with any discussion about religion: if you're talking with believers, you're trying to reason with people who ultimately choose to eschew reason in favor of faith. What could you ever say that would sway them? And if you're talking with atheists, they already agree with you, so it's pointless.
That's why I refuse to talk religion with anybody. There is nothing to be gained from religious debates.
I embrace reason to the degree that reason can be applied. As for swaying the religious...I was not aware that atheists were recruiting lol. I personally can not be bothered with religious debate either...as I am not fond of religion.This.

Personally, I don't see the need to determine who is right or wrong...that amounts to nothing of any real use. For me, the greater goal is to be happy and at peace with yourself...valuing justice above all things.Well, the only thing atheists have in common is a lack of a belief in a god or gods. There tends to be an inclination towards science, reason and logic, but I wouldn't say that makes our views much the same. Unless we're arguing against something a Christian brought up.
I find basing one's identity in a dogmatic manner on a lack of belief mystifying. That would be akin to the fact that I do not believe in flying pink hamster's as a basis for self identity.Well, the only thing atheists have in common is a lack of a belief in a god or gods. It was meant to be for most religious. Since I operate under no religious authority (by choice), I am exempt from dogmatic constraints. When asked what I am....I can be cheeky and just say "Human"...or I can describe what I do. That is probably one of the more fascinating of human studies....how we self identify.I don't define myself as just an atheist. That just happens to be one particular qualifier. And I already mentioned leaning towards science, rational thought and logic. Funny you put "dogmatic manner" out there. That seems to me a bit of a projection.
The same could be said for the other side then
Yes we are recruitingI embrace reason to the degree that reason can be applied. As for swaying the religious...I was not aware that atheists were recruiting lol. I personally can not be bothered with religious debate either...as I am not fond of religion.
Especially in the case of Leviticus.Well, there is always the question of how much people actually believe in a personal god composed from their own particular biases. Not many people could embrace the bible in its entirety. There seems to be a lot of subconscious picking and choosing going on.
LOL!Yes we are recruiting...Now stare into the center and listen to me

Who will bear that authority?Letting people believe what they want is fine and dandy as long as everybody else is free from the consequences of their beliefs. When the irrational invades the public space (think sharia law countries where people get killed for blaspheming, or the US where certain adults want kids to learn creationism at school), that's when the need arises to determine who's right and wrong.
