I'm 6'5, 252 pounds. If we need a trenchcoater, find me an XXL and some cargo pants and I can carry an entire B&M.

Mikhail, I had no idea, lol. I'm 4'11, about 135.

We gotta get together one day just for the photo op. Plus I'm literally turning into a little old lady, which is funny all by itself.

Just wanted to send out a big thank you to Roxy, for designing this wonderful Boreas, and Raymo for all the help that he's given me. Raymo literally had to walk me through the entire process, from starting voltages to coil types.

For anyone on the fence, the Boreas is hands down an awesome device. I was stuck on pre-built coils for a long time and had given up trying to learn how to make my own coils. Actually I just cheated and bought some from Raymo. Those coils are beyond belief and worth every penny. I can now understand what everyone was saying about how the vape from the Boreas is smoother and more flavorful.

Looking forward to picking up either another Boreas or the Merlin. Raymo, I guess I'm going to need more coils later. Thanks again everyone.:xD:

I'm in! May have to start looking at the 55 gallon drum of nic base that MFS sells. Then that will convince the wife that we need to move to Alaska to better preserve our nic base. Unfortunately, she thinks it's too cold and she wants Colorado when we retire. I like the idea of a state paying you to live there. Sure would make retirement nice.

BYOB: Bring Your Own Boreas - Dummies in Juneau were eyeing a 100% tax on the wholesale price of all vape/ecig goods

The state's economy is going down the drain and the State Legislature is considering the unthinkable: instituting an income tax and cutting the PFD (the free money) in half. But, we still have the best fishing and the sun's already staying up until just before midnight :)

I expect the states to all swarm in for huge taxes on vape products for the 2 years or so they will be available. Vapers will be desperate for gear if the regs aren't overturned, or at least halted, and the greedy shits will take advantage.

I said 30mm mainly because my device should be able to with very little overhang support up to 30mm. But honestly I doubt I want one. Just saying that I am cool with 18mm to 30mm as long as it is good at what it does. Along that line, I do decently powered 50w sub-hohm, 1 hohmish and high holm (1.5-2.0) all depending on where I am so. It's more like I want good (but reasonably priced) devices that do what they are meant to do well.

As for the JFC. I am not sure I explained what was happening. The only thing besides the glass that this leaks out of is the air vents. It only does this when unscrewing the top with the JFC completely closed. As I unscrew the top to refill, the the JCF doesn't prevent juice from getting to the base and the deck floods causing it to leak. It doesn't leak when the JFC is open which is all the rest of the time. Only when the wicks shouldn't be playing a part because juice shouldn't be getting to it.
When you turn the tank upside down to drain juice from the bottom, there is now air. When you close the JFC, and then unscrew the top, you are pulling air through the bottom. For those that don't drain the bottom chamber for filling, you won't see air bubbles.

Air bubbles do not mean the tank is leaking. There is a vacuum in the tank. Unscrewing the top, with a liquid seal on bottom, creates more vacuum. You are increasing volume inside. So it pulls air through JFC ports. After that, with no vacuum, and an excessive gap, or JFC not fully closed, then yes, the juice in the bottom will drain out.

When you take the top off, no vacuum. Put top back on, it compresses air in tank. This will force juice through JFC ports. No way around it. If the bottom chamber is not drained, you will force even more through. If you invert tank, open JFC, and the bottom chamber had been drained, then you will "burp" the air. Turn it over and juice will fill bottom chamber.... and continue to do so until vacuum is established. No way around it.

When I do all the steps, I still get a flooded deck and have to clear it out. It's manageable, but it still has to be dealt with. This is the only time having the JFC and AFC functions being the same where it is a problem. Any other deck you can clear it with air and power before adding more. But with this tank, you just have to open it and start burning it off.

Bottom line is there is no tank that has JFC that seals completely. There is no "seal". It's simply two parts with tight tolerances. With enough time, juice will drain out. But it is so slow, that for our purposes, we can consider it "closed". But if you force air or juice, by screwing down a top and compressing the space.... you will push air or juice. It might be "closed", but it is not sealed.

The only thing you can check is that you do not have an excessive gap between the two parts... base/JFC that allows more to flow. I doubt you do, but I sup[pose it is possible. Mine has good parts fits. But if the JFC is not seating on top of the base, then it's not correct. But that would be unlikely.

It helps me to screw the cap almost all the way back on, like maybe 1/2 turn to a full turn of being closed, flip upside down, open the afc and then finish closing the top cap. This relieves some of the pressure in the tank so it doesn't burp so much.

I do the same. The burp comment was that if the bottom chamber is not drained and full, then inverting the tank is still going to push that juice to the deck when you open the JFC. If the chamber was drained, then air has a path to vent.

I do as the directions say. But when I do invert and screw the cap all the way on, then I get juice at the cap. And if I take too long, I have literally dumped juice out the chimney.

This is definitely the most fussy tank I have had when it comes to leaking and filling. But it is also the only tank designed this way. Functionally its the best tank I've had. But the features that make it do its job so well, definitely have some trade offs. I accept that, but it's also a bit of a pain. It's about as finicky as I'm willing to deal with. My Griffin is still in use and for a "normal" RTA, it's perfect. But it can't do what the Boreas can.

I dont have any of these issues unless I under wick the deck or over wick it...
I flip it, wait a second, then close the AFC/JC, fill it and then wait a second and then open to my preferred settings and I can fill it past the glass with no leaking/ect.

Yep, changed out o-rings. Wick it like everyone shows. I have what I have. At first I had too little wick. But now I can't say.

I don't know what to say. Some people just get a lemmon so to speak. Everyone says they have no problems, yet some do. Sometimes it's operator error. Sometimes when some say they have zero problems, what that really means is they don't have anything they consider a problem and juice leaking doesn't bother them. Who know.

It's really difficult to sort through sentences on a screen and do accurate trouble shooting with wild varying opinions and circumstances. Bottom line is I do not consider my tank broke or poorly designed/produced. I don't consider it a "problem". I consider it normal for how it is made.

I am usually the one to say there is no "tank" that leaks. Only seals leak. Change the seal. Wicking can be an art. But this tank seems the easiest ever. I'm not ruling out operator error. But right now, not sure what to try next. Because what it is doing does not seem out of the ordinary for what it is. Except for the many that say theirs doesn't.

This tank has been a total nightmare for me. I wanna love it but I want to bash it in sometimes. 1st it was lack of flavor. Now it leaks nonstop, I have actually burnt myself from giving it a blow before I inhale, and spitting really hot juice on me. Even if I fill on an empty tank it leaks, Even if i have the jFC closedit leaks. Im so frustrated with this tank. I also think it might have been a clone since when I put the code it said it had been registered. I don't know but im so pissed with this tank. Lay this tank on its side? Tank just empties and spills the whole thing.

My worry is, like the Reuleaux, it's hard to fit wire gauges that fit Evolv's recommended spec list into a mod that small. I also worry about the 510, which is the universal weak point of ALL DNA200's, it's always the 510 that fucks up. Wiring gauges too thin causes a massive loss in efficiency, meaning you're not getting the most out of your MaH. Plus thinner wire used on higher loads can lead to a LOT of heat build up, which could damage the mod.

Solid point, and a good argument for charging outside the mod. That skinny wire, as I understand it, is to make the charger balance work.

Solid point, and a good argument for charging outside the mod. That skinny wire, as I understand it, is to make the charger balance work.

The balance wires can be small, I'm talking 24-28 gauge small, no problem. The wires I worry about are the POS/NEG battery connection (or in these mod's cases, sled connection) and the 510 POS and ground. If the 510 wires are too small, this can lead to heat build up that could damage the mod, if the POS/NEG or Sled wires are too small, your battery life will take a hit. This is because the wire is struggling to carry the power load (if it's a power above 75-80W on the Reuleaux) from the sled to the 510 and the batteries are essentially being forced to work harder to output the power. This causes a loss in battery life.

The balance wires are supposed to be small, they aren't carrying large loads like the 510 and battery/sled wires are. Plus with an 18650 setup in a DNA200 device, you need a different style of ground. The Reuleaux did this with a copper tab and a phillips head screw connecting it to the sled, which was sketchy and came loose on many occasions. The Reuleaux also had the issue of pinching the screen ribbon under the firing button, which could damage the screen overtime and cause it to fail. The 510 in the Reuleaux was also garbage. Though charging your batteries with the onboard balance charger with the Reuleaux DNA200 is just fine, it isn't dangerous.

Major flaws of the Reuleaux:

Poorly thought out sled ground

Battery POS/NEG sled wires were far below Evolv's minimum spec

Polarity rings tore battery wraps

Pinched screen ribbon

Garbage 510

If the Triade can fix these things, it'll be the best retail non-lipo powered DNA200 on the market.

Same way you would top fill the marvelous Orchid.
After the fill, screw top cap almost all the way on but not to where it is sealing up and increasing pressure. Flip it upside down, now that the juice level is below the juice port you can screw the cap all the way down and let it put whatever pressure it wants into the tank... the juice is below the holes to the deck.

Flip it right side up, bubbles burp, no flood... vape on :cloud:

Laying it on it's side, some have said no issues, I get leaking but I expect that from a tank that relys on vacuum so I am careful not to let it sit on it's side.

Bottom filling may be the way to go for you.

There are no clones yet, maybe it was used before you got it... you bought it on ebay right? Maybe they damaged orings or there is one missing. Or that was a tank from the first run that had questionable orings.

Don't lay it on it's side and be careful in your pocket, make sure it stays upright while pocketed.

First, I just didn't want to fill it right. Then I changed o-rings on the deck. The AFC wasn't a problem, nor the glass. Just made sure deck and base was sealed. Then I wicked it like other decks... Nope. After all that, no "problems".

When things leak a ton, you have to go with seals. And what many forget is the cap. Even if bottom leaks, there is still vacuum in tank. It will slow it. If the cap or chimney does not seal and maintain a vacuum, nothing is going to stop the tank from draining.

I pocket mine all the time. If I forget to close the ring, yes it can leak a tad. But that is expected. A saturated well with side air. But it doesn't just run out. I know my top rings are good and I'm not leaking air. I didn't have any broken o-rings and can't say for certain mine leaked. I was doing a couple things wrong. But after all that, there is definitely nothing to hate about the tank. I'm not sure what you have tried so far to make yours work right.

... Says the guy trying to pick a fight...

LOL

I wouldn't consider anything with you to be a fight, it's more like talking to a child.

LOL

And I say LOL pointlessly, because I'm emulating the intelligence level of a douchebag like yourself who can't think of anything more creative to say. Your post count is almost twice your like count, there's a reason. People don't like the shit you have to say most of the time. Which means you're contributing nothing to anything, not even social topics. I'm sure VU is your outlet because in the real world people would break your fucking nose, but at least contribute. Most of your posts are rehashing the same shit other people have already said. So not only are you a douchebag, you're not even an original douchebag.

I'm a hated asshole on most of this forum and my likes still outnumber my posts, because I can at least contribute intelligent shit. You can't even back yourself up in an argument, because you lack the mental capacity. You don't even have an avatar, I'm sure it was too hard for you to figure out how to upload an image. Keep trying to redeem yourself man, it's hilarious to watch. You start shit, then act like I'm pointlessly attacking you.

Heed your "Says the troll" comment. If you want to talk shit, don't get butthurt when I piss on you for it buddy.
