Surprising trivia:

How many different kinds of tomatoes are there?
There are around 7,500 varieties of tomato plants grown for cooking, canning, fresh eating and other uses. There are over 600 types of heirloom tomatoes and the best varieties of tomato plants come from this category. Heirloom tomatoes are considered to have the best taste and come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.

I like to eat the Beef Masters in fresh Italian Bread with EVOO and some Oregano. I planted more in my Herb Garden although some survived the Winter.

Agree with @SteveS45. At the same time not going to "jump your shit" about it. I've back slid a bit and had cigarettes. Human beings, being human.

And I apologize for my recent boisterousness regarding atheism. I too am am human. It gets frustrating putting up with a seeming 98% of the population being one version of theism, or another. That frustration was not meant for targeting you specifically. So, yes I do apologize.

Here its the other way around. The polls might say we are predominantly Christian here but what comes out of the mouths of the majority says otherwise. I think its just something many say they are traditionally, but definately not in reality. They dont talk the talk and dont walk the walk. In reality we are in the minority.

They dont talk the talk and dont walk the walk. In reality we are in the minority.
Know what you mean. I've seen true Christians, ones that live the Life. Have also seen those who don't yet say they do.

As I said, seen good & bad in most if not all religions. See the same with any creed of human beings. Can offer respect for anyone.

Do apologize though. I'm no saint and do need a condition. Equal respect given back. Again that whole concept of fair being fair until its not.

Then, it isn't so much I dislike the person as dislike their actions, lack of action/s. I was raised with a good Christian upbringing but found my way here to agnosticism, atheism. Still recall a Mennonite preacher's words to me to me to keep questioning.

I have, still do, still will. Hope most follow suit. If they've found their faith, good on them and hope it keeps them happily. My faith remains we as a species mature enough to not need all the labels, tribes, cliques.

Help I'm dizzy. I was out twirling some plastic string at the weeds. Must have got out in the cool enough. Did not upset a horde of yellow jackets nesting in the hill behind the hovel.

Talked with birds who said they would eat up all the yellow jacket larva since I mowed that section. Sat a bit on a log/stump up at the barn. Talked with her Pawpaw. Enjoyed the sun a little. Come back in.

Raining here so I went for a Propane Tank and got Mom some Flowers for Mothers Day.
I'm just going to holler at mine over messenger and wish her happy pizza day. :) :D

My youngest brother is there with her. Know he's watching out for her. Also know he likes some herbal help for pain & shares.

So yeah, he can go out to "Little Papas" in T'ville and get them some good pizza. If you're not from there you'll have no clue where it is I'm meaning.

Good news here. The school board just posted an open slot for the lady retiring at our local elementary school.

It is a bump from custodian III to custodian IV. That means I have to do the supplies inventory. It also means I can earn from $2,000 to a bit over $3,000 monthly. The shift it runs is from 2 P to 10 P.

There's also another slot open for another elementary. I'm not sure if it's a split shift between two schools, or only the one. Its shift is 4 P to 12 A. This position remains custodian III, which is paid just a little less monthly but avoids the paper work.

Emailed the secretary of the custodian boss, the assistant superintendent. I asked her if the 4 P to 12 A slot is a split shift or only one school. Probably will not hear back until Monday. Got until Thursday to "strike/bid" for either spot.

These spots will then be available to work next school year. Yes, I would start in the remaining year. Likely, I would get limited "mentoring". Then, next year the spot would be fully mine.

Drilled more holes in the bottom of the peach tree pots, the leaves are looking a bit yellow. Had 6x 3/8 holes in each pot. Added 9x 1/2" holes to those. Strawberries are doing better, not all appear to be making it but most are. They'll be alright. Cucumbers and peas are starting to come up. Berry plants just sitting there, the bare root ones. Maybe they're slow growers. Need to weed out there, I get these tiny little weed sprouts in everything. Mostly in the fresh beds, the strawberries, lettuce/spinach bed, the tomatoes. But I can't really distinguish some of the lettuce coming up from the weeds just yet so before I pluck the wrong things. lol.

Got the receiver and speaker to replace the dead surround sound unit. Found out the right rear surround speaker wasn't working, tested it. Clipped part of the speaker wire, tested again and it worked. So spent some time finding the bad spot in the wire. Had 3 splices to make clipping out a couple bad spots (one clearly had broken wire showing, one the insulation looked stretched). So I'm busy stripping leads, checking continuity of each piece of wire end to end before I splice in a bad piece. Cut the leads offset from each other to reduce interference or crossing, get them all twisted up and secured. Then taped with electrical tape. Go to pull the wire out and move on to the next end except when I pulled my hands out with the wire - I had a loop. A fucking loop. I spliced the two leads on either end of the same piece of wire together.

Face
Palm

Not much I could do but laugh. Also figured out my issue with the subwoofer. I could've sworn it was an active sub with a power cord plugged in. Turns out nope, just speaker wires. And the yamaha receiver I have with the sub-out is just audio signal no power. So I can either find an active sub or get an amp. The cheap ass that I am I think I found a quirky 200w chinese amp (no brand) on ebay. Gonna give that a go, not spending $100+ on an amp for what amounts to a $10-15 speaker. It's maybe a 20-30w sub at best anyway, just fills the low end and the living room isn't that big. Also sorted my problems with the audio and the remote. For whatever reason I'd pair up the dtv remote to the receiver and it would work for a few then wouldn't adjust volume. Kept reverting back to the tv until I discovered the 'volume lock' feature. Needless to say I'm not jumping into the home audio installation game any time soon. :p

1. Drink coffee. Roger, Wilco. Do-able. :)

2. Figure it all out. Realize it completely changes once you do. (This is where the ever handy expletive f*ck works.)

3. Pretend it's all under control. Know you can only pretend. (Sh*t is handy here.)

Think people might benefit from switching the flip like me. I never suffer isanity, rather enjoy it. :D

As far as aware, taking off today & Friday. Rational for it is today I go see a social worker for talk therapy. That is only an hour but the time it's scheduled kind of fouls up other scheduling. Besides, I'm going on a girl's day out with wife & mother in law.

Friday, I have an offset scheduled visit for physical therapy. It is just an evaluation, yet still it is likely I may need off. Figure I may get my ankle, right calf torqued. Will not feel keen to walk/run around a school for four to eight hours afterwards.

I kind of put off the PT from falling back in mid October last year. It was offered I just stubbornly chose to not take it thinking all the tendons would sort themselves. Unfortunately, still got the wrong kind of tightness & soreness. The muscles need a little help which I'm not sure how to offer. Cue a PT specialist, duh.

How do I think the tightness & soreness are wrong? Well, I was a distance runner in high school, had done quite some athletic stuff for military service, run as volunteer emt. So, think I can at least figure something "feels" wrong. So I'll go let a specialist look me over and help if they think warranted.

One thing is a knot in my calf muscle near the ankle. Been working it gradually, unable to "pull" it out. Think it's keeping my foot drawn taut. Any who, that's that.

See someone mate. I severely damaged an ankle a couple to few yrs ago. It was "will we or wont we" operate. They chose to see what a couple of months in a moon boot would do. Wore it for 2 and took another 2 to come right with physio. Then about another 6 before I felt fully confident on it. Dont mess about and get it seen to Harry. ;)

Aye, am going to green light it mate. The foot doctor too had said at the time operating was a choice. He didn't want to do that, yet it was there. There's not exactly pain all the time. I can though turn, move and wince. So yes, figure it needs "looked at".

A bit more good news to convey. Both positions as full time custodian open, both are full shifts at their respective schools. :) There is no split shift or travel between two schools. I appreciate the Dickens out of that.

Now the hard call, which one do I really desire working?

One has a home on the market for around $95K, it's only valued at $40k though. If we could get the financier to roll the down payment into the loan, and pay $600 monthly instead of $400, it would be ideal. The home sits no more than 3/10ths of a mile from the school. I'd make enough in 2 months to pay 10 months payments.

The other we still need to locate a near by home.

Got my "bid" in on both positions with the one closest here listed as first choice. I turned them into the secretary of our boss Mr. C. He was in his office but had stepped out to talk to her. I apologized for intruding.

He said no, it was fine, he wanted me to be sure to get my bids in with a grin. He then ducked off into his office to look busy. *chuckles* The secretary agreed she would fill in my address and phone off file. "Good luck, Ben," she said.

It was a bit after 3 PM when I got them in. Somehow, I think I'm being snookered. :D :) Seems everyone wants me working this.

I am over-the-moon happy that you did this, and will join @SteveS45 in sending the good ju ju your way.

On another matter about which you posted, others say what they believe, why not you? Just no politics. Religion is just as booby-trapped as politics, but we must learn to be civilized and inclusive. Myself, I am a Buddhist atheist. (Most people think it is, but actually, Buddhism is not a religion.) I don't take offense to anything until someone gets in my face.

Takes all kinds to make a world.

Called out today to work a split shift. First at 3P I go toward the South of us to an elementary school. Then, at 6:30P I break from there and go North of us to a middle school. The middle school likely has a full time custodian & part timer working it tonight. No matter apparently, I finish there until 11P. Not sure what's going on. Ah well, figure it out when I go.

Be Thursday in 2 1/2 hrs here. But yeah my Wednesday was a mixed bag. Set out and waiting at the lights a huge B double truck decides to take a shortcut through town on roads not made for them. Turns and comes right at my car within about a foot of my grill abusing me. Im on the right side of the road mind you. I hold my cool and slowly reverse back, there is traffic behind me so im being real careful. Truck pig decides im going too slow so starts coming towards me to hurry me up. He then drives forward nearly sideswiping my side and stops blocking my exit to abuse me again. So im being firstly abused for being on the right side of the road waiting at the lights, then abused for not reversing into traffic fast enough. By now im looking at this lunatic maybe lurching forward and taking my front end out with the massive trailer so look over my shoulder , all clear, then floor it across the intersection. Man I was furious but held it in and kept going to where I wanted to in the bush. Glad I did as it was a great day out after that.

@SteveS45 I finally had to replace a PNP coil this morning.

I have no idea how many puffs were on the one I replaced, but it's been floating around here for months, being used on all kinds of different devices. I don't know that I've ever had a factory coil last so long.

I had one last 15,000 Puffs~! People don't believe me either.

I just reset the counter on my Armour Pro, and if I can remember not to switch out the tanks, I'll let you know how long this coil lasts. I ordered the VM1 coils (0.3 ohms) and I'm running them at 38-40 watts.

I did have a small problem with this coil. When I first put it in, the mod couldn't read it. I had to snug down the o-ring on the bottom of the coil with my fingernail. It was not pressed in evenly.

Got done at school in South, went to Northern one. The full timer there didn't have his half timer. I did upstairs, he got down. We had it done by 9 to 9:30. Left out at 10:30.

Sat with the "Rat Pack" for about 10-20 minutes. The full timer told me, "well you do get two 15 minute breaks and your lunch. I wasn't worried."

It was okay for a split shift.

Your lunch was? And dont say Rat Sack ;)

2 Double Cheese burgers and a large sweet tea from McDonalds.

Here's an example of how the automated call / email out system the board uses is messed up.

Assigned Substitute: *********, BENJAMIN

Job Number: XXXXXX
Substituting For: *************, GARY W.
Location: *****SWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

Classification: CUSTODIAN

Start Date: 2021-05-13
End Date: 2021-05-13

Schedule: Thursday - 03:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Special Instructions: Roy is stepping for Gary. Sub to Cover Roy's shift.

Yes, Roy might be stepping up to sub for Gary. I knew he would be. Worked at *****swood Middle school last night. As I said in last night's posting, ...
Sat with the "Rat Pack" for about 10-20 minutes.

The "Rat Pack" in this case is Tom, Roy, Randy. I think they've kind of adopted me as one of their own. What I'm pointing out is the email read Roy was "stepping" for Gary. Gary is off tomorrow/today on day shift. Roy is subbing for him.

I sat here just a few moments ago and filled in an xls file with the job information. The sheet reads "Employee Time Report". I like using the computer to fill them out mostly. I then sign them, or let one of the secretaries do it for me.

Yes a few will, and yes I entrust them to not foul things up. They're secretaries, pros like me, figure they can do their jobs. :) :D Er, famous last words? Gee, hope not.

The two schools share some common space. I'll try a quick text diagram below to offer an idea of how they meet.

Code:
*****SWOOD HIGH SCHOOL ------- QUARTERDECK
                   CAFETERIA CLASS CLASS CLASS
                             ****SWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

They walk over from the high school's quarter-deck to the middle school's auditorium & set after they've finished up. They usually wrap up from 8P to 9:30P.

Everyone on the crew "takes their time", does the work properly. Yes, we do "close enough for government" work. None of work is slop though. We do check behind one another, fix, or let each other know of things to improve/do. Last night I worked with Tim.

Tim: "Hey, you forgot to sweep your stairs."

Me: "Ah, duh. I'll get them. Knew I was done too soon."

I went and did them right then. It took about twenty minutes. I did not feel criticized, only reminded. We don't criticize. If you see something you can clean better, clean it. Show the one who cleaned it, show what you did different. We all learn and share what we know.

There's nobody really "walking on" anyone else. There's nowhere to go in the work, really, so no need "stepping" on anyone. :D :)
