My granny had a similar expression all the time too. And the older I get and the stupider young people appear to be, I wonder how close my own expression is getting.
Heh... every morning when I walk in the bathroom and see myself, I say "oh hey, Flossie!" (her name was Florence, but my grandfather always called her Flossie or Floss, as did her siblings).
I saw a pic of her, taken when she was barely into her 20s (which would have been the mid-1920s), and my resemblance to her is UNCANNY. I've wondered since then if that might be why my grandfather always treated me as his "favorite"... though that might also have been because I was the only child of his youngest child, and a "child of a broken home." But I really do resemble my grandmother more than any other family member I have; I look more like her, than like my mother! When i was born and the nurses first brought me in to my mom, while she was still all drugged-up on scopolamine, she bellowed "she looks just like my mother!"
Funnier still, is that my son looks just like HIS grandmother, my mother... except for his blonde hair, which he gets from my dad.
