Our new family member, we adopted last week: "Annabel" --

Annabel.jpg

She's 3 months old. And sweeter than the expression on her face would seem to indicate... :giggle:

My oldest sons cat, Jack. When we first adopted her we were told she was a boy and was neutered. We named her Jack skellington from nightmare before Christmas. Few months after we got her she started meowing loud nonstop. Took her to the vet, found out she was a girl and not a boy and that she needed to be fixed. Lol that’s our funny story on Jack!

My precious Annabelle baby. She passed away a few years ago, not long after we got Crowley. She was my baby, never left my side, always layed on my lap. Slept on me, cuddled with me. Slept right next to me and had me put my arm around here when I’d fall asleep. She was my first cat and I adored her. Miss her so much! Can’t wait until the day when I get to cuddle her in heaven.

I have pics of my cats kinda peppered throughout this thread from a while back, but to avoid digging some of those out, this is Fitz, AKA Fitty.

And the day he came home.

He's laying in my lap right now. It's like we never move from this spot.

Living in our apartment complex we agree to stipulations. One being we are not supposed to feed strays. That noted I believe several in our building feed a cat who seems content to have adopted me as her boy. Further, I think the property manager has chosen to overlook this stipulation as an exception given the "poor waif's" condition.

This nearly solid black cat showed up here a few months ago with a real nasty patch on the back of her neck. At one point I thought perhaps someone had tried decapitating her. As time has gone on I've learned the nasty patch seems to have been some *ahem* so and so splashing her with a corrosive substance such as acid.

Finally admitted to my next door neighbor I had been putting out a bit for her. He grinned and told me he thought as much but hadn't said anything to anyone and wouldn't, having also saw her condition. I explained me and Chris were not looking to take her in but possibly build trust of people with her so we could get her further help, possibly transport to a no kill shelter.

He explained another neighbor had been treating her neck with peroxide too, we both agreed that probably wasn't a good idea. He asked if I had been treating her neck. I told him that I had not gotten her that comfortable nor would I treat her with anything except maybe some silver sulfa cream for burns.

The most care I had given her was food, a healthy calm energy, kind words, slow approach to glancingly brushing my hand over her back. He smiled and chuckled, "oh, you're an old softy." I chuckled and replied back, "oh yeah, bet I'm twice as hard as any jar head." He had been that and so we joke both knowing it's all one big green machine.

I've named her according to the Jelico way. I as a human asked her, her name. She said I could call her Brianna, or Bri. She speaks Southern Mogwai dialect, so there's a common phrase which is variable, "hrrmmm". Her big bright golden eyes pierce right through me, too. My wife says she knew how to pick her boy, and I ought not listen to her, that others here feed her too. Well, I couldn't let her starve and besides that, she's had enough roughness in life already. She needs to know "good" humans.

*sighs* Yeah, so I'm a softy. :)

Bless your heart, and no worries, I won't tell anyone what a softie you are. Reading that though made my heart smile this morning. Thank you

You're most welcomed. :) I have been steering her diet towards some fat, cats do not make body fat of their own. I want her to be a bit fat to help insulate her for Winter, she'll remain outdoors. Then, come Spring I'll steer her towards lean and a bit more sparse feeding. Let her hunt the rodents so as to keep ticks, snakes, disease away.

Know some might see that as a harsh way to be. We absolutely cannot bring her inside for Winter, (although be assured if it gets too horrible bad I'll say the rules can take a hike). And she'll not need fat over Spring to Autumn.

Had a good little session with her this morning. Got to rub her just a little more. She finally decided though enough was enough, hooked me with one claw. *chuckles* Then, she jerked away, lowered her head. Poor thing still getting used to the idea of good people, still scared. Oh well, a little more feeding, kind words, calm energy. :)

And no, I am not a cat person. I am a dog person. Although I did have a cat, pure white, named Mike first. Mike inadvertently taught a five year old boy about bordellos. Five year old in front of new devout Christian grandmother, "mom, can my new dad make Mike a cat house?" Mimi bless her bright red face explained it to me, honestly, yet carefully.

My wife put him up on the adoption sites and it wasn't 10 minutes and people were clamoring for him. He has bonded with Tony, another friendly feral in the back, and Sylvester and Frank. You guessed it, our feral colony... .in the back yard. We are keeping him. And he gorgeous and the first Ragdoll I have seen.
He's just gorgeous. Even with all the furries, I'm glad he's staying with you. It's no wonder people were interested.

I have 3 cats, this one is not quite right in the head :teehee:

Keep the cat pics coming. Love them and the cats. Oh, and no cat is right in the head. We have 3 also. 2 sisters and one we found 2 years ago. The mother of the 2 sisters used to drink the chlorinated water from the pool even though she had fresh water from which to drink.

I know these were posted earlier, but I don't feel like finding them again.

The big furry blob is Val. She is one of the sisters. When Val was a newish kitten they were living in a friends garage. Her mother ( the pool water drinking cat) would drop Val pans full of used motor oil. So she was named Val which is short for Exxon Valdez. The smaller tabby is the newest one. 2 years old. Usually these two keep their distance, but occasionally they are civil.

This is the smaller tabby. She's named Nala and usually she hangs with the dog.

And finally Wickett, because she looked like an Ewok when a kitten. She is the sister to the poofy one.
