It's really good that I did, because at the moment, that counter is holding a plate with a stack of cookies, and also 4 large potatoes that will become potato salad sometime this weekend. :giggle:

Here's the cookies, before I wrapped 'em:

View attachment 99258

Hmm... it occurs to me that I may need to relocate said plate of cookies tomorrow, so I can put my vise there and get my Achilles rebuilt; been procrastinating it for a week, but it's time.

They look delicious :)

My wife and I have been baking since late October. She's into all kinds of cookies, cake and other really neat stuff for Christmas, which I've never done before. I got into it this year with shortbread cookies which I really like. I've gone through six pounds of butter now :giggle: , but we gift them as presents too which is neat.

I've also baked 4 cakes this week; one for us, one for the mate to take to work, and one each as gifts for my stepfather and aunt, who are joining us here on xmas day -- a new tradition, since we lost my mom in Oct '16 and we all boycotted xmas last year. I'll set a plate of the cookies out on the coffee table to gnosh on while we're opening gifts, then we'll eat dinner -- I'm roasting a turkey breast tomorrow, my husband will slice it sunday; got the whole wheat french bread already cut into appropriate sizes (similar to how Subway cuts theirs); got some lettuce and tomato and provolone cheese, and I'll also be making potato salad, and some corn that was really delish at thanksgiving, a combo of Summer Crisp and white creamed corn -- my aunt is bringing a ham, and some chips and cokes.

These were the first 2 cakes (apple-raisin-walnut spice cakes):

1st2cakes.jpg

And this of course is what we've spent the most on:
2-xmasspirit2017.jpg

I expect we'll be paying off the visa for a large part of 2018. :giggle: The American tradition! :D

Trying to finish the last of this Pina colada. Got old quick but I'm too stingy to waste the rest. Ready for some strawberry shortcake.

Cutest hulk ever!
We do not even have a Sacrificial Conifer this year.
Thought about doing a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree....

I love your dry wit

Ours is fake... and some of those lights on it came pre-installed -- the white ones; we then add some multicolored, but it sure cuts down on the number of wires to deal with.

I try that every year but the wife says no. So I stay in my corner with my bah humbug shirt and watch.

My husband tried that. I told him to get over himself, he's not the only person in the family. As sad as last xmas was, we all need some fun, good food, cool santa-loot, and family ties. My aunt is 85, my stepfather will be 78 on Dec 31, and one thing I learned with the loss of my mom: sometimes, next year doesn't come.

Decided to go check out a new vape shop that just opened in the area. Was gonna buy some juice and maybe some new Sony VTC5a’s and was looking forward to possibly having a B&M with some knowledgeable folks working there since most shops around here are a bit lacking in that area. Unfortunately, it seems like this new shop isn’t any better when it comes to employees knowing their stuff, though, because when I asked them what batteries they carried, they told me that they sold Samsung and LG...I said not to worry about it then because I was looking for some Sony’s, to which 2 of the employees literally start laughing at me saying “With a mech? You’re seriously gonna put a Sony in a mech? That’s hilarious...” I just politely handed the bottle of juice I was about to buy back to the cashier and said that as it turns out, I didn’t need any juice and good luck with the new shop. I feel bad for any newbies that wander into that place looking for help or info...

You're not drinking water are you?! You realize that stuff is found in antifreeze!?!

:(

I just pray that vape shops like that don't last. Especially with the attitude on top of ignorance. So far I've seen it happen - two shops (the only two) in my small area closed down, but the one in my last town actually expanded! Nice owner and good attitudes, that one.

My first time in that one (the successful one) an employee gave me wrong informatiom, but I never saw her working there again.

When I first started vaping nearly 3 years ago. I visited all the nearby vape shops.
In 2 they actually laughed at me for using cigalikes.
The other 2 were not much better.
Never bought anything at any vape shop nor been back in one.
All online for me.

Until I started doing my own DIY I bought the only juice I could vape in a tobacco shop.

There were 2 that were close to me, when I started. The first one I went to, they kinda sneered at my eRoll, and then sold me some 18mg ejuice because "all new vapers need that." Fuckheads. They're outta business now. :)

The other one was much closer, and in fact had just opened, shortly before I started in early 2014. They never gave me attitude for my eRoll, and they were very supportive of my efforts to find a juice I liked, and in the correct strength, which turned out to be 6mg. I've also heard the owner start a newbie off with his first starter kit, all the info and howtos he needed to get going, and he did a great job of it. That store has opened several other locations in our county, and the place is damn near standing room only on the weekends. I don't buy any juice anymore, but my son does, so I took him up there, and they treated him just as well as they did me -- and I still sometimes get an acrylic Ming driptip there, even though they're $4.25 and I can grab 'em for .99 online -- that store is worth the retail markup.

Ohh not saying that all vape shops suck.
Just that the ones I tried first did and I learned to live with online vape supplies.

I had 2 competing vape shops in the area and one grew super fast eventually flopped because of overpricing while the other small business shop took the slow and steady approach and now is the #1 shop in the area.

Finally got to break in the drill I got for Christmas...just a regular run of 10 Alien Coils.
adaf9f7b6ec29f7413c734f7f1ccc08b.jpg

If I’d known the difference this drill would’ve made I would’ve gotten it awhile back. Battery lasts a lot longer, it runs smooth as silk with no shaking or vibrating, and so much quieter that even running at full speed you can have a conversation with someone in the room.

I gave my son an OBS Engine Nano for xmas, and I think the airflow is going to work well for him, as @Letitia9 advised -- the only problem is, we can't figure out how to disassemble the silly thing, so we can boil it and get it sparkling clean. Any tips from OBS Engine Nano owners?

Many thx!

Freezing my ass off and using a space heater to vape. Not sure what happened, day or so before xmas and it was nearly 60 degrees. A light dusting of snow xmas eve, xmas wasn't bad. Night before last got shitty, last night got super shitty. 7 degrees and don't think it got much above 15 today, looking be under 20 degrees for the high all the rest of this week through the weekend with lows hitting into the negatives.

So why am I using a space heater to vape? Because in spite of having 3 space heaters running full blast I'm lucky to keep any part of this house above 55-58 and my ejuice is turning to syrup (80% vg). Keep nearly getting dry hits so having to hold my tank down by the heater so it'll wick. In case it hasn't been said yet, winter sucks fucking nuts. Old droopy grungy saggy ass nuts.

@AndriaD With effort you can get glass off. Chimney is press fitted to top. I personally would just give it a hot bath with a drop of dawn, rinse, and drop in some alcohol.

So, the alcohol will let it be disassembled? I've tried soap n water, alcohol, with other atties, and if there actually is any machine oil in it, boiling is generally the only thing that will fully get rid of it. But it needs to be disassembled... so it can be built if nothing else! Can't put a coil in it till you can get to the head!

I've got some isopropyl in my vape gear, so I'll make a bath of half isopropyl, half boiling water, and see if that will loosen it up any.

No the alcohol won't help getting it a part. I don't see why you need to disassemble it.

I checked the tracking sites to see where my Chinese packages are. I mixed up 90 ml of juice. Oh oh Out of nic. I took a jar of nic out of the freezer. I adjusted the wicks on my Vaporesso Gemini because it wasn't working very well. I adjusted a recipe on http://e-liquid-recipes.com to suit flavours I have available. I decanted my jar of nic. I made another 60 ml of juice. I stood outside in the freezing cold at work to vape. I still need to recharge my batteries. I browsed a few forums and posted on a couple. I posted on an ongoing conversation with a vaping friend. I'm sure there's a lot more but vaping related stuff has permeated my life so much that I do a lot without even thinking about it.

Just got back from a 2 mile vaping dog walk. It's 3 degrees out and my 100% PG juice was fine. I've also done that with 80% VG when I was into that and I had to back off the power a bit. I don't think 55 deg will affect your vape much.

We both love winter, but I think the pooch appreciated the dog coat tonight :)

So it can be built! But also to get it completely clean.

Andria

Andria, have a look at the video Cromwell posted. To build it you only need to take it apart from the bottom, which is easy. Unscrewing the tank to replace the glass needs more force than he could do by hand, but he did it using a tool for leverage. I wouldn't try that until I had to for fear of breaking the glass.

The rest of the tank parts are very likely press fit, so you won't be able to get them apart.

today I refilled a couple of unicorn bottles.
And cleaned/rewicked a squonk atty and a Subtank Mini RBA.
Got between 10 and 14 tanks of juice on the RBA before cleaning/rewicking.

Edit:
correction I was thanksgiving when I last changed that RBA..
so at least 20 tanks but likely more.

To build it you only need to remove base, Same with cleaning. The hot water will get where it needs to go for initial cleaning. You have to do it the way Daniel's vid shows to remove the glass. It is difficult. I just run mine under hot water, then rinse with alcohol. I do run them thru the UC regularly as well.

My Serpent RTA's have the same issue and I just rinse them under hot tapwater.
I use 60% PG so do not worry much about germy things in there.

heck I can't even get the glass off of them.
