So some art group made an effigy of a fat, ball less Trump, and another of Hill in a tuxedo for auction.

Why not a striped suit with shackles? I hate both candidates, but artists always being SO darnn political and LEFT, really makesl me almost regret being a supporter of the Arts..

You have to take little victories Moo and try to ignore the absurd. Kinda like when the media published nude photo's of Trumps wife. As Trump said they was art and nothing to be ashamed of. Then the media swore they would never ever ever publish nude photo's of Hilliary and the entire world breathed a collective sigh of relief. Its the little victories that matter :D

Well, I expect we may get a little rain from it this weekend, but hopefully it will decrease drastically in both organization and quantity, once it's gone all the way across FL and most of GA.

One thing I noticed, though, which might not bode well for SC -- remember that godawful flood they had last year? When I first looked at the weather radar, I noted that Hermine is sending some outlying stuff in a NE direction... and there's another big ridge that's heading in a SE direction, over VA... if those 2 systems meet up over SC, it might be another mess for them.

Andria

I was thinking, we need to send the storm to Kentucky. Look at it, how long has it been since the intergalactic SS Minnow of Cromwells had a good washing? Send the storm up there, let it rinse a few eons of dirt off the old ship and help it along a bit :giggle:

Doesn't landfall generally Rob their strength? I hope you get a break.

Yeah, usually... but remember that demon called Katrina? Went from Cat4 to Cat5 AFTER it hit land...

This is only a Cat1 so not a really huge deal, but FL is so low and flat, might be some flooding issues.

Well we're getting some rain already; it was bucketing down a minute ago, eased off some now. I suspect we may get a lot of that in the next few days. Really good time to NOT be at Panama City Beach. :D When I was a teenager, we always took late-summer vacations; rates are cheaper in hurricane season. :giggle: One time we were there at PCB when a Trop Storm that had been piddling along out in the Gulf decided to make a sharp turn at the Bay where PCB is, and also escalate to full-scale hurricane. Hearing the wind whistling thru those cheapie beachside motel rooms was scary as shit. We hightailed it for Dothan, AL, where it was raining, but at least not a hurricane. :D

Usually when a hurricane hits land it will lose what is feeding it which is the warm waters as well as encounter drag from the land. As long as the eye is over hot water it has the potential to build.

I had a lot of damage from Katrina.

I think pretty much everyone within about 200 miles of N'awlins had a lot of damage from Katrina! That was a BASTARD! And then FEMA showed what royal bastards THEY are! (ETA: A lot of those who lost their homes completely went to other cities... ATL got a LOT of those folks!)

All I can say to that is F Sandy. We lost 24 full grown trees on an acre and a half property, 4 of them hit the house. And F FEMA, who "don't offer aid based on income". Over $24k in uninsured financial damage and the best they offered us was a small business loan. FU very much FEMA. Thanks for the chance to let the government rape me with interest in my time of need.

Yes and no on FEMA. They really did help many during Katrina and the greedy entitled fools down here thought they owed and owed. It really pissed me off the way the southern people of Louisiana acted torwards FEMA during that time and after. Even 5 to 7 years later New Orleans was still harping on how FEMA owed them and it was pure greed. Many took money to rebuild and never came back. The FEMA money was to help people rebuild, not for them to pocket it and run. I see a lot of that going on now with this flood. People who have total dumps are demanding FEMA gives them money for those dumps when they didn't even live in them before the flood.

Nothing is fair and it never will be. And not a damn thing can be done about it. I had a nice home. It was small but very nice. I had some very nice stuff in my home. FEMA gave me around $6K to rebuild when I lost well over an estimated $70K. And on the other side of the coin I know a couple with a dilapidated dump of a trailer. A real piece of shit and FEMA gave them $20K which they will use that money to dope up and stay fucked up until it is gone. There is no fairness their and not a damn thing can be done about it, it is what it is.

Yep. "Not based on income" is a load of horse crap. FEMA is a communist redistribution of wealth organization. The way I see it, I should be able to recover at least what someone who makes less does. Otherwise, like everything else government nowadays, the more you succeed, the more you're penalized for that success. There an area near me that floods, and flooded during both Sandy and Floyd. All of the residents received 100% compensation for real, uninsured, financial loss. Me, nothing.

I always found that funny. After many years of marriage the missus don't care about having sex anymore but god damn, get caught in the sack with another woman and all hell breaks lose. :xD:

I'd dearly love to still be having sex with my husband, but my fucking stupid body can't do it without excruciating, agonizing pain. My husband loves me, so he doesn't want to cause me that kind of pain. He'd love to still be having sex too, though his body ain't as young as it used to be either. But yeah, if I found out that HE was having sex, when I CAN'T... I wouldn't just be angry. I would be fucking destroyed, that he cared more about his fucking DICK than about my feelings. Yeah, I know, feelings, men don't think they're real things at all. But they're a hell of a lot more important, in a 30 yr marriage, than a fucking piece of ass. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure my husband is aware of that.

The GIMP is very powerful but you have to rethink the way you do things if you're used to Adobe.

Linux, I've used it for years and it's come a long way. It's actually easier to use and maintain than Windows. You do have to choose which Desktop environment you want, I'd recommend KDE. As for which distribution, I very highly recommended Linux Mint.

Got tired of having to unfuck my Dad's computer every other week and put Linux on. Only had to do a distro upgrade once a year after that. He used it for over a decade up until he passed away last year.

Philistine! KDE is pure Evil. xfce, *box(es), iwm with slim display manager is good. I had liked lxde until there was decision to port it fully Qt and use half of the KDE libraries doing so. Not exactly sure why but anytime I try Kde, it fouls up my system bad. It bogs down memory and refuses to accept the coffee making script as vitally important, re-nices it to the last job on some zombie deamon for tripwire which I have linked to a anon remailer that pings a Sputnik relay. My coffee ends up being made alright, but gets shipped to Gaum where Jose Rivereo drinks it and claims no knowledge of any conspiracy.

"See, we make KDE so flashy and glitzy, then he just has to set up his coffee making script. Then, we get Jose the coffee. The Morely will never know what happened. Muhahaha!"

The above is pure sarcasm if any doubt remains. :)

I never minded KDE desktops. The worked well for me. I ran Kubuntu on a laptop for a couple years with no problems.

My inlaws lost everything because of Katrina :(
I still laugh at my evacuation for Katrina. I was scheduled for my yearly training the FAA demands we do so I wasn't worried about a place to evacuate to, I already had a room reserved. I pushed my Harley thru my front door or my house and had it in my living room to keep it safe and was going to take my truck. The GF wanted to bring her mom and oldest sister along which was cool with me, then the gf said her two brothers are coming, her nephew and his girlfriend plus their baby, her sister and her boyfriend with their 7 dogs and her cousin. I said no fuckin way. Her mom and sister only. This was company paid for hotel room and I was not bringing all them people there and get fired for it. Then the GF said another brother and her uncle is also coming. I got so mad I told her to go fuck herself, pushed my Harley back out of the house, wished her luck on the evacuation and took off without her and her clan.
I rode to Lafayette La where the main office is and pulled up to the hotel and they had a line at the check in counter. Family after family was being turned away because they was full. I get up to the counter and they tell me the same thing, they are full. I tell them who I work for and I had a reservation and within 5 minutes I am in my room. :D
The GF called me that night, they was way up in northern Louisiana almost Mississippi and still cant find any places with vacancies. Top it off her nephew who was driving her truck got drunk on the drive and almost plowed into a cop car. Sucks to be them :giggle:
Next morning in torrential rains I ride to the training center and they asked what the hell am I doing there. Told them I had training scheduled and they was like oh, your the one we forgot to call :teehee:. Then they freaked out when they seen I was on a bike in that weather :D
So I got to spend my evac in a nice plush hotel, knocked out three days of training in a morning and the lead instructor bought me lunch because they screwed up . Life was good!
Best part is when the gf made it back she admitted she should of listened to me and let them fools fend for themselves :)

Discussed... and tried quite a few times, trying this and that. I think the only thing that would truly help is if I went on full-scale hormone replacement therapy. I've looked into that, because the damn hot flashes would try the patience of fucking JOB, but... the risks are too awful, the probable risk of some type of cancer -- breast, ovarian, uterine -- too high. We discussed that too, and we agree that we'd both feel like total assholes if I ended up with cancer because we wanted to keep having sex, because I wanted to "stay young" when that's literally impossible. It being not nice to fool mother nature and all that.

But all that discussion wasn't really necessary for him to know the diff between "oh god yes!" and "oh god hurry up you're killing me!" :D

I used to run Gentoo with Fluxbox ;)

But as time went on I did get lazy and went with a Debian based Distro and used XFCE and Gnome for some time. Then Gnome went with the fad of Kiosk/mobile touch interface bullshit. It's a fucking desktop, I have a Rat and a Keyboard, fucking touch screen bullshit is to kludgy when actually doing work. Anyway KDE after v4.7 runs well, stable, designed as a fucking desktop and does what I need to do. I'm a Network Engineer so I need to have multiple monitors for trolling through packet captures, logs, etc. So I've been using it for the last couple of years and like it, much better than the change Gnome did.

Cheers

I agree about Gnome. It tanked by going the way it did. I used Gnome 2 a great deal. When the switch up came I looked at different environments. I'm just a simple desktop abuser that sometimes codes a few hello worlds. Possibly the problems I had with KDE was in using different environs in conjunction with it, instead of committing to it fully.

Again, it's up to what each person likes / needs. :) I genuinely do appreciate having the choice/s. Not going to knock anyone else's choices except in good humor. No point having such animosities when ultimately that's all it is. If you find what works for you, go you, go! :)
