Maybe I just got lucky, but I haven't had a dry hit, leak, juice flow problem - nothin' - all day long. Maybe that tune will change in the next few days, but so far this is pretty much the bee's knees.

Use a little more cotton or fluff it better. Every RTA has a sweet spot, just gotta find it. Like a lady.

You dont need 100w, you just need whatever wattage works for you....
Shut the juice control when filling and if you fill it completely full then keep the juice control half closed and you wont have the leaking....if you have the juice port ring on it stops that leaking/filling.

When my tax return finally shows on the card I may invest in a DSLR and make some videos on building/wicking and other useful information so people who dont envision things easily and are prone to learn more from seeing can benefit. I think thats what you need Ej, someone to show you how to get it down rather then reading and testing. Ill try to make a small shoddy video of how I do my wicking so everyone can see how I do it without leaking or dryhits, I dont need to close the juice control when filling either...I wouldnt suggest you fill without closing it so you dont have a mess if something goes wrong though. Ill post the video on the thread as soon as I can get it, I dont have visual editors or anything on this laptop so it will be very ray and taken with a Galaxy S5 so dont expect a perfect video, just be sure to watch how I wick and assemble the tank.

Im guessing your stuffing your cotton in tight into the juice ports, the others didnt have enough wick in them...the cotton needs to be light and fluffy where juice makes contact or it chokes it off instead, having it too loose you can use the juice control to close it to prevent leaking...

Cut your cotton flush to the ring and use a flathead to LIGHTLY guide it into the port, it should just be cupped by the ring and port. If its bunched up then pull it out and fluff it with your screwdriver and then try again.

See how my cotton looks fluffy and not force into the ports? No cotton showing under the ring? Those tips end right after where the ring is and there is about a millimeter between the tips and the juice ledge. You can see the ledge where the cotton should rest on/above if you raise the ring a few twists.

If you have problems getting it right then remove the ring, get your cotton cut at the ledge and then replace the ring and the pull the tips up lightly, not enough to pull them out. The better cotton prep you do the better your wicking will be when vaping, pay attention to detail, after you get it its very easy to replicate.

I did that exactly the way you described and still my juice wont feed. You can see the air bubbles just sitting in the juice feed holes.

Take a picture of your deck with your wicking please...Air bubbles will always be sitting in those holes, its still feeding just differently then other RTAs. The juice comes in around the sides of those air bubbles, when you take a long draw you will see a massive bubble be released, thats about the only bubbles you will see ever released.

Grimm did a video yesterday on the Griffin and he shows how to wick it (At 8:20 in video), I dont push my wicks like he does as it bunches the cotton but I did it very similarly.

Also. Im running a .37 build in this and about 50-55 watts is all itll stand before dry hitting. That normal for these or is something wrong?

You have your wick choking off the port like I mentioned earlier....there shouldnt be ANY cotton showing under the ring and it should barely be resting on the ledge in the port. Pull your wicks out and cut them so when they are put into the port they just barely hit that ledge, there should be no cotton at all under the ring.
Much like this pic but make sure that as little as possible hangs down at all...
make sure the cotton is AS FLUFFY as possible and not stress or bunch anywhere, at the bend from the coil should also be plump and fluffy.
Griffin Wicking Tut .jpg

I dont vape above .2 Ohms so I dont really know if thats normal or not for 55w on .37....That could be a factor for your dry hits though. Thinner, smaller, and coils with not much mass wont need as many watts.

The wick should look more like this on your coils (Crius V3 is pictured but some concept).
The Cotton is plump, fluffy and soaked so it will absorb juice much better then straight and angled, not fluffy wick. it will also keep the col juice as it holds more juice at the edges and overall.

Please watch this for a even better description of what you need for wicking then Grimms video (START AT 11:00), just dont do his "apply ejuice then wick bit...." and make sure nothing is showing under the ring...:

I saved this as a Bookmark and you can add as many tracking numbers as you want and it saves them, you can rename them and then delete them when they arrive...

I have to go atleast 100 watts to ramp it up, maybe my BATTS are weak or something!! But because it kept reading .09 on my cuboid and RX the only option I have is the FUCHAI, anyways, took the coils off, I made my own CLAPTONS 22g NICHROME 32g 2.5mm 5/6 wraps reading at .11 and I put the ring back cuz my cotton was moving with my juice control, well anyhow, THIS TANK IS A BEAST, with current coil I have ramp time is quicker like expected, not fast but quicker than the fused claps, 60 watts puff it once the second puff just ramp it up JUST LIKE MY RDAS.. No leaking no peeing, I'm getting the hang of it, no dry hits just like my MTANK, I like it with the 510 though, flavor is more pronounced , geek VAPE really created a competition RTA, this tank is not a flavor tank it's more of a VAPOR TANK, but if u build it right it could be a flavor tank.... Here's my final configuration
.11ohms
60watts
Using the 510/white tip
PERFECT

Its 22mm..being my first velocity style deck it was surprisingly easy to build. I just hope I got my wicking down okay!

Maybe the color makes it seem bigger.
Ej has the same setup in a few posts above, look ho his tank sits on his RX200 and then compare it to Break-19's....Break's seems to take up more of his RX then Ej's does...Thats why I thought it was bigger...maybe its the lighting.

It does look bigger lol.
Maybe the refraction of the ejuice making the chimney and griffin bigger lends to it.

Not just that but where the Griffin meets the RX and then the distance from the side to the Griffin seems alot different. There looks to be a smaller space between the side and Griffin on Breaks where as Ej's looks farther from the edge...thats what made me question it.

I hated that and I tried Cotton Bacon V2 for the First time a few days ago and theres no break in period, they wick instantly and hold a ton of juice, taste clean and the first pull taste like a cotton that has been broken in completely. I have since bought 3 bags of it and I plan on not using Japanese Cotton anymore...I dont like how it pulls apart but after getting used to how it rips I ave gotten used to wicking with it.

I didn't read through the entire thread, are you using Claptons or regular coils? I would more than likely be running normal 24 gauge at first.

I really like my black RX mods..like the Griffin (so far) they are indeed the best mods I've vaped in a long time..I'm done with dual batt box mods too..the RX makes them suddenly obsolete.. It feels so much better in my hand and three batts go for days...I'll still vape my little IPVD2 down at the casino, fits easy in a shirt pocket,

Just a simple 24g Nichrome build..
And using organic cotton, just like I've used for years in my RDA's...and VG max juice...working great so far! Also the juice control ring is fairly tight..I mean it stays where I set it..no wobble or looseness at all.. I'm impressed !

Im getting a second VCMT 25mm from Vaporcarp next week and waiting for my Black Griffin to arrive still...:)
I think Im going to try modding the VCMT so the Juice ring doesnt move and add stippling to the Delrin Tips edge...

I didn't like my griffin at first but I was misusing it by putting dual 24g SS316L in TC mode. Aromamizers are better for that style for me. Now I've got 28/38 claptons x 2 twisted, ohmed out at .48 hitting at 100w like a champ! A warm vape & it took a minute to get used to but the flavor & clouds are outstanding. Wicked it raymo style & no dry hits even when chain vaping

That was one of my struggle with top fill, mine was so tight at first, I have to juice the top fill and the base..

I'm really liking how it hits.. Just a simple 24g Nichrome build, organic cotton and VG max at 75w..thick clouds that rivals the triple coiled TFV4, its great!

Yeah it's a chucker, it's a competition RTA, the wide drip tip lessens the flavor IMO, I'm using the 510, flavor is more intense IMO...

I haven't touched a prefab coil tank since I got my first Griffin. It's been that and the Tugboat v3 for almost a month
