I guess that is not stated correctly --- it is correct, but not for SS316L. By default, it is set to a TCR value of SS304 wire.Alien TCR value for SS is not correct.
Thanks! That is what I thought. So when I make a single coil in the middle of that same deck(between the posts), it is full wraps?I do believe it's 6.5. To make 7, the legs would have to come off opposite sides of the coil, completing the seventh circle. Looks nice and clean.
I was scared of blowing my head off or something.Oh, and if the res drops below 0.1, the Alien will read it and refuse to fire. I've had it happen, and had to use the coils on another mod.
I've also had the opposite happen. I made a pair that were too low for the Alien. After breaking them in on my Slice, the res rose to 0.105. I put them back on the Alien, and have been using them for several weeks.
Now I am double confused!I was wrong. When the legs come off the same side, both ends count as a half. So you have 6 full wraps + 2 half-wraps = 7 wraps.
If it were single in between 2 posts, you'd get the extra half. It confuses me too, obviously. Lol
I will have to do it your way cause I just can't wrap my head aroud it.The .5 thing annoys me for some reason, some people get all anal on it. If I wrap that sucker over my screwdriver 6 times I'm calling it a 6 wrap. I don't care what others do but I'm not gonna be all anal about it.
Yeah it took me awhile to get used to clicking the bar before screwing the atty on. It won't blow up, but if the res is very different, it can give you a nasty hit.I was scared of blowing my head off or something.
My Alien has a habit of not asking and firing a new atty as the old ohms, well it tries anyway. I end up having to fuck with it and fire it without an atty to get it to reset.
I alternate between cat turds (LG HG2s?) and bright green (Samsung 25rs?). The printing is pretty much gone from the batteries. lol
Well this build is the first one I have had that actually has me feeling a little funny where my neck meets my chest. The cloudage from this isn't playing! I will be taking some more breaks with my tootle puffing, aspire Zelos kit that I won earlier. Otherwise I may drown myself in VG. Need plenty of kleenex if I vape this build out the nose too. LMFAO!Yeah it took me awhile to get used to clicking the bar before screwing the atty on. It won't blow up, but if the res is very different, it can give you a nasty hit.
Im not even trying to build or wick that. Nope, not today...Double barrel coils in a goon
Great flavor..had heard bout them and since im learning ....why not?Im not even trying to build or wick that. Nope, not today.
That looks really cool though. What is the advantage to having vertical coils?
It is not a 5 and 2 halves? NVMSo @Whiskeywarrior is correct. It's a 6 and 2 halves...LMAO
When using Steam-Engine - Wire Wizard, I just set to half wrap and go on.It is not a 5 and 2 halves? NVM
Im calling it a 7. lol
The length of the leg is measured from the post to the center of the loop, so the wraps are counted between the outer loops. Maybe it is a 5. Be fucked if I know at this pointIt is not a 5 and 2 halves? NVM

I have done this too as an estimator. I can only get approximate results but at least it points me in the right direction. Anyway, I always use the tool no matter what I end up with. When using Steam-Engine - Wire Wizard, I just set to half wrap and go on.

This is the description when you mouse-over the "Number of Wraps" field.
The number of wraps in the coil. Half wraps mean that the coil legs are pointing in the same direction.
Whole numbers mean that the legs are pointing in the opposite direction.

Yea, an estimator is all it should be used for. There are way to many factors in how the Ω reading will turn out... wire quality, stretch a little while straightening the wire, a little extra tension while coiling it, etc ... etc... etc...I have done this too as an estimator. If my husband is in the room with his Alien while I am building and testing, I will use his, mine, and my new Zelos 50w now. I do get kind of anal and want the best estimate I can get. heheYea, an estimator is all it should be used for. I've also noticed that the resistance is ALWAYS different from one MOD to another. My Ω reader will say one thing, I will put it on my MOD#1 and it will be a 10th off, put it on MOD#2 and it will be somewhere else. I've just gone off the rule of thumb that if the first decimal digit is where it was on the reader then it's damn close enough. Example ::: Reader came in at .25Ω and the MODs say .23Ω <> .28Ω then i'm calling it good.
Yea, for the Alien's to reset the ohm its just way easier to pull the atty, hit the fire bar twice and then put the atty back on -- like @gakudzu said.If my husband is in the room with his Alien while I am building and testing, I will use his, mine, and my new Zelos 50w now. I do get kind of anal and want the best estimate I can get. hehe
Edit: At least the Zelos knows right away and no fiddle farting around with it. I just screw atty on and get reading. I still do use and love my first baby way more. My nekked Alien is awesome despite needing a little sweet talking for an ohm reading.
Good job! Try to get some smaller wrap wire like 36 or 38 gauge. The ramp up and down times will be a lot less.My first real coil build... I mean, I've done single wire coils for awhile now, but this is my first attempt to Clapton at all… I like the look of twisted so I figured I would try it... it's twisted 28g SS, claptoned with 32g K1... I think it came out ok... if there's anything I should have done differently, please let me know... I'm very new to all of this lol

Welcome to VU!
Those are your first builds? Damn, 4 core fused and a stagger, you are phenom! More flavor, go for an Alien or framed staple. There are howto threads in the Coil Building forum. Check them out. http://vapingunderground.com/forums/coil-building.44/Well this will be my first post on VU after being a member for nearly a month.
And these are my first coil builds.
The first build attempt was for a friend Ni80 4*28/40 and I was quite impressed if I say so myself

And my second build was a staggered fused clapton Ni80 2*28/38 which I wanted for higher ohms and lower wattage and amps as I'm squonking the Drop Dead on a Topside and the 21700 EXOVTC6A just wasn't lasting that long really.

These seem to ramp up nice and fast at 60w 16.6A and .25 Ohms....the flavour is quite good but I want more!

How rude of me for not welcoming you to VU!Many thanks gb....I'm quite talented when I want to be.
Looking at the link you posted now.
