Wanting to try vaping but i am a non smoker.

So i have been wanting to try vaping for a while now but i am a non smoker. I dont know, i have always just liked the sound of it all the options you get. I would like to try it but i don't know if i should. If i do end up trying it i would like to know what i should start with and how often i would need to replace things on it.
So it's not 100% safe, if you drink on the regular then it's possibly doing the same damage as you would from vaping but in a different area, just so you know it's harmful to your health...not as much as fags (not gay people) but still will do something...just know this and make your own mind up, I vape and never smoked but i used to use shisha...i guess it's a form of smoking... anywho you are your own boss the choice is yours!

The minute you walk outside your door you hazard a multitude of environmental toxins and potential interacting chemistries, kinetic contact or impact injury and not the least of which the risk of serious brain damage from all the bullshit.

Life is risk and the fragile shell we call a body is always exposed and subject to it in everything we do.

The question is whether the probable benefits outweigh the risks in time; and shouldn't that be a matter of your own reason and choice? Who owns you?

Good luck. :)

No it is not.
Smoking requires combustible material vaping does not.
Vaporize *Physics* = a gas at a temperature below its critical temperature.
In other words there literally is no smoke involved in vaping as the vapor never reaches a critical state...Period!

Compare it roughly to 1 beer per day. Any long term damage is purely hypothetical. It COULD be damaging long term. Everything I have seen states it slows cell regeneration, but that is still faster than the cells die off naturally. And, much less than actually smoking, with prohibits cell regeneration totally. Main thing is, vaping may not be 100% safe, but unlike cigarettes, it won't cause any issues that could kill you. It is probably less harmful than eating a french fries every day. So long and short, it is healthier than smoking, but less healthy than not vaping at all if you don't smoke. But then again, if we gave up everything that was not 100% healthy, what is there to live for anyway? Who wants to live on a diet of bottled water and raw veggies? LOL. I know how to deep fry the veggies.. but the water is still a challenge. I can't figure out how to get the batter to stick to it. :)

That is the wick.. and you take one puff. Anyone that would take consecutive pulls on a dry wick deserves to die, just for being to stupid to live. Call it a benefit to humanity... hopefully, before they had a chance to breed.
I think after the 2nd one, they would WISH they were dead.

Main thing is, if you inhale vapor that is at its flash point, you have a lot bigger problems than vaping, such as cooking your entire respiratory system.
Propylene Glycol: will burn at 699.8°F but.. that is uncooled, IE, no airflow at all. If you suck the atomizer, you create airflow. Probably enough to keep it from igniting, but not enough to prevent steaming your guts like a clam.

I don't what shisha you smoked, but here in the Gulf the shisha will kick your ass. I'd smoke it for 2-3 hours hanging out and it felt like I had smoked two packs. One night I got chest pains and never touched it again.

Wow this got ugly fast. I LOVE vaping. I used it to quit smoking 5 years ago. I'm down to almost 0 nicotine. As the nicotine gets lower, the flavor improves IMHO. So IF you haven't run away in complete fear from all the fighting, then I would suggest 0 nicotine for that reason alone. Also, I have lost considerable weight. About 40 lbs. It wasn't my intent at all, but I found that vaping satisfies my sweet tooth so I'm not gobbling down sweets like I used to. Be sure to get a few different flavors. My favorite is anything cinnamon, but I also have fruity flavors and chocolate flavors just so I can switch it up. If you continually use one kind of flavor, so get so you can't taste it.

My best advice is go to a vape shop and try it. You can try it for free. See how it feels. The samples will be 0 nicotine. You may not like the feeling of inhaling a vapor into your lungs. As a smoker, it wasn't that foreign of a feeling for me, but as any smoker will tell you, that first inhale was HORRIBLE on a cigarette. Let's face it, our lungs were intended for inhaling air only.

Also, by trying it at a vape shop, you can get an idea of whether the flavor is worth getting used to the feeling. My guess is your going to choke and cough a ton at first and your lungs will feel like you've inhaled water. One test at a shop may convince you this isn't for you and save you a ton of money.

That brings me to my next point. THIS GETS TO BE AN EXPENSIVE HOBBY. If you're fiscally challenged (broke), vaping may not be a good road to go down. As you get more into it, you find yourself buying a lot of gear and juice. It's not that you NEED it, but it's fun to get new stuff and we all get shinyitis terribly. Don't even ask me how many "mods", tanks, RDA's and now RDTA's I have. I don't think I could even give you an accurate count off the top of my head and I have 6 more boxes (mods) on the way and some new tanks, not to mention a shit ton of juice. This hobby is worse than cell phones or computers. As soon as you buy 3 new things, 8 more come out that you just have to have. Worst part is, my hubs doesn't vape so he doesn't understand and I have to sneak order crap and then beat him to the mail box. I'm thinking having an affair would be easier. Just kidding.

My opinion on nicotine? I keep using it because it does sharpen my concentration. I drive 11 hrs everyday in a 14 hour work shift. Without nicotine, I get bored and lose focus and that's not good in an 80,000 lb vehicle. Also, I feel as though it helps calm me when things get stressful (try Atlanta rush hour in a semi). Do I "need" the nicotine? Not at all, but I enjoy the benefits of it and my research has brought me to the conclusion that's it's virtually harmless for me. I have felt worse side effects from too much caffeine, but then again, I used to smoke full flavored cigs which I believe are likened to 28mg juice, but I could be wrong. I now use a 2 or 3 mg juice depending on the brand. Frankly I think it could be more of a placebo for me since the nicotine is so low, but whether the nicotine actually makes me sharper or I'm just mentally fooled into thinking it, who cares. I don't believe it's hurting me in any way. With all the fast food, sodas, caffeine and crap that we ingest today, I think the nicotine in ejuice is the least we need to be concerned with.

Next point... if you start vaping, don't be an obnoxious douche bag and blow huge clouds every where. This makes us all look bad and it's what has gotten vaping equated with smoking and banned in a lot of public places.

Also if you have kids or pets, the juice with nicotine is toxic if they drink it. Children have died from ingesting ejuice with nicotine. You absolutely MUST keep it out of their reach and preferably locked up. It smells sweet and tempting and some of it actually tastes... eh... ok. Actually it tends to have a medicinal taste, but kids and pets will drink it anyways just because it smells like candy.

AND... it can be messy and time consuming. The ejuice is sticky. Every morning I have to change my batteries and fill my tanks so that I'm ready for my day. It's become part of my morning ritual. I hate the sticky feeling of the juice on my gear and hands so I'm constantly wiping everything. God forbid a tank leaks everywhere. Do not just throw it in a bag or pocket... bad idea. It could fire from the button being pressed unbeknownst to you. Best case scenario you just toasted a coil and now you have to try and replace it without all the juice spilling out. Worst case? You start a fire. Middle of the road? Your tank leaks and your pocket or everything in your bag is saturated in sticky juice. That sucks hairy ball sack.

So... despite all the arguing about nicotine, there are points to consider. If you try it at a shop and still want to start, then we are all here to help you keep it safe (the batteries can become bombs) and help you have a very enjoyable new hobby. It indeed can be fun and taste good. Just know what you're getting into and do what's best for you.

Now nicotine argument aside... if we could use ejuice as a vitamin delivery system we'd all be healthy and it would be more mainstream. Just saying..

Are you sure about that? The shisha I know put burning coals onto tobacco. It burns. The smoke is then drawn through a reservoir containing water. I don't know the science of what happens to the smoke when it goes through the water, but I know for sure it isn't hot enough to vaporize the water. It's smoke that is being inhaled, not vapor.

I'm pretty sure there's hot coals and actual smoke involved in smoking shisha tobacco.

I do understand the science it's called (Thermodynamics). And you are wrong...The water cools the smoke which in turn becomes vapor*...Science!

Interesting... I just read a bit on shisha. Here's something I learned. When one is done with a bowl, if you remove the tinfoil there will be a dried mass of the tobacco, it's not burned. Now, I have never ever seen this. Here in the Gulf at the shisha bars, you never touch the bowls. There are guys who do everything...put the bowls on, put the coals on, remove the bowls, etc.

I did read that the coals themselves could possibly be pretty nasty. All I do know is that a few hours of shisha smoking is pretty rough on the lungs.

Really don't want to argue this as I'm trying to learn but I need some convincing. Tobacco smoke is an aerosol, yes? And vapor, as you began it:

...is a substance in the gas phase at a temperature lower than its critical temperature which means that the vapor can be condensed into a liquid by increasing the pressure on it without reducing the temperature. A vapor is different from an aerosol.

Going from a different angle, I'm sure you know your shit, but I'm just trying to wrap my head around vapor simply being water-cooled smoke. From what I'm reading, you can vape through a hookah (by cooking/heating - which most people do) OR you can smoke through the hookah via combustion, but you can't do both or "convert" from one to the other once your chosen process is started:

Wikipedia said:
A hookah is a single- or multi-stemmed instrument for vaporizing and smoking flavored tobacco (called Mu'assel)sel), or sometimes cannabis, whose vapor or smoke is passed through a water basin—often glass-based—before inhalation
From that, you can burn it into smoke or you can heat it into vapor. It does NOT actively convert smoke INTO vapor once the tobacco has combusted/burned.

I'm not arguing here, just trying to clarify.

That's what I'm reading, too. It doesn't change from one to the other like snake said. It's either one or the other depending on setup. But most people vape it with heated coals so it wouldn't damage the equipment by using fire.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

So this thread is still getting posts, so I will restate a few main factors. 1 vaping is not smoking. 2 People have their own reason to vape, whether is it to cut tobacco usage or quit, or social recreational reasons. 3 Nicotine is an addictive drug but you do not need nicotine to vape. 4 IF you have a condition that would benefit from using nicotine YOUR DOCTOR WILL PRESCRIBE IT FOR YOU, don't self medicate because you see people making claims on a web forum.

That said, if you want to try vaping for whatever reason, if you never smoked, go with 0mg nicotine ejuice and I would suggest higher VG (20/80) to prevent sore throat.

If you want to vape to reduce the amount of tobacco used...(See.. I did not say to "quit smoking" per Health Canada.. lol... ) then ask at local vape shop or forums (here) for the nicotine level to start with based on how many packs you smoke a day and the vape gear you are using.

One reason I like this forum is older posts get added to as more people search and new information is found. Maybe the OP was trolling, but the fact is there are non-smokers interested in vaping. Maybe they like hanging with friends blowing rings or chucking clouds. Maybe they just want a pass time or something to replace snacking between meals. The reason isn't important, but keeping the info current is. Personally I hate searching a forum and finding posts 5 years old and having to sort through 100 hits. I would rather just go to the last post in 1 or 2 threads.

Sorry Snake. Cooled vapor becomes liquid.
Vapor is formed by heating a liquid past its boiling point. You can reform the vapor into the same volume of liquid by cooling (condensation)
Smoke if formed by ignition (burning matter) in which matter is chemically broken down to release heat (smoke is a biproduct). Once you burn matter, it is destroyed. You can not unburn it. (like exhaust from a car.. you can not collect it and turn it back into gasoline to re-use it)

This is a point we have been stressing for years. Vaping is not smoking and vapor is not smoke.

Now as a footnote...
Hookas, shiskas, bongs, water pipes and such are NOT vaping. In fact, they are counter productive to vaping since the liquid would condense the vapor thereby nullifying the desired effect. As someone stated, those wishing information on these devices should go to the appropriate forums.
Now I am pretty sure someone is going to post pics of these items modified for vaping. You can make a vape atomizer from almost anything (which is part of the fun of modding.. lol)

Reread what I wrote.
I never said what you are implying. In any way period!
I said and quite clearly.
That when the smoke is cooled through the water in the hookah it becomes (vapor).
Which is in fact what happens.
There is more than a few ways to make vapor you know. But I will not get into that discussion as it would clearly violate Rule #1 of these forums.
I'll make it super easy for you to understand.
Smoke = Hot
Vapor = Cool
Oh and I never said smoking and vaping were the same.Nor did I imply it in any way.
Stop trying to manipulate what I wrote.

Good reply. Goes to show your level of maturity as well as you ignorance in simple sciences, since that was the best reply you could come up with.
Cooled vapor = liquid.
Cooled smoke = cooled smoke. The particle temperature after the ignition doesn't matter. Which is why smoke coming off a fire is hotter than the same smoke 30 feet away, but it is still smoke.
Steam however is a vapor. Steam below 100C = water. Water is a liquid.
As I stated, you can collect and condense vapor. You can not un-burn something you have set fire to.

And what you SAID was cooling smoke changes it to vapor, which in fact is does not.. Hence Vaping has nothing to do with smoke. PERIOD.

It has become obvious that you don't even have a simple understanding of actual thermodynamics and I will not continue to waste my time.
You either don't get it or you are just parroting misinformation.
