Hey Jimi
One of the most common things I hear people struggling with digestive symptoms say is "I'm taking probiotics, glutamine and drinking bone broth but my digestion is still not working
right".
Here's the thing, your digestion is actually far more complex than just slapping probiotics and bone broth on it and calling it a day.
It's important to assess brain function, the entire metabolism from top to bottom and microbiome diversity/dysbiosis to optimize digestion.
One of the biggest thing I see overlooked in individuals suffering AND practitioners supporting them is the hidden reason behind digestion problems.....
hormones.
Hormonal balance and gut health have a symbiotic relationship.
You really can't have one without the other.
The most impactful hormone on gut health is actually cortisol.
Cortisol is the stress hormone released by the adrenal glands.
When we are talking about this physiological response the body has to stress, we refer to HPA axis (hypothalamus, pituitary & adrenal).
It has been clinically proven that HPA axis activation is able to affect the composition of the gut microbiota and increase gastrointestinal permeability aka leaky gut.
In simple terms, stress causes and perpetuates gut issues and inflammation.
This is why it's imperative to optimize your hormones when struggling with digestive woes.....otherwise, you'll be like a fish swimming upstream and losing the battle.
Next week, I am hosting the Hormone Reset challenge to guide you through a step by step process of creating balance, reducing stress and identifying underlying causes for your symptoms (both digestive and hormonal).
Hormones run the show whether you're male, female, 25 years old or 80 years old.
