Anyway, I thought I’d share that. I had a strong feeling that it’ll help someone, telling you that story. Admitting sometimes I’m scared, and don’t know what to do next.
And sometimes, we all need help.
I am so glad I didn’t give in, to the urge to run away and hide, not do the hard thing, not speak up, stay behind my keyboard and do what I do best. (Which is WRITE. Not organize protests.)
I want you to know that I care about the vulnerable people of the world, and of my community. Very much.
I’ve been worried about the people in Africa that I tend through my work with Mothers Without Borders. I’ve been worried about the people in India, where 37 million live in slums and cannot “social distance,” but they were forbidden from working for 3 weeks, and then I cannot find any news stories about them, anywhere, in the almost 3 months since then.
I definitely think New York went wrong, putting virus patients into elder-care facilities! We need to do better. We need to learn from our mistakes and have better, targeted solutions to keep the vulnerable protected, and keep the healthy working, to support everybody else.
I’ve been attacked every single day of the last 4 months, for the stand I have taken.
It would be a lot easier to just watch Netflix and eat Cheetos, or any number of other ways to escape what’s going on — or at least just keep quiet about it, to avoid ruffling any feathers.
I’ve cried more, in the last 4 months, than in the 53 years before that put together. I think a lot of you can relate.
When I started speaking up on these topics in March, 54% of my audience said, in a weekly poll we ran, for 10 weeks, that they APPROVED of the economic shutdown. (So, imagine the rotten tomatoes flying my way.)
And the last 3 weeks we ran the poll? The approval rating for the economic shutdown was down to 6 to 8%! I think Americans BELIEVED our politicians when they said, “Let’s just shut down for two weeks — to ‘flatten the curve.’”
I have to figure out what the BEST uses of my time and my public-figure platform are, to best serve, moving forward. I’ve focused on research, writing, speaking, doing some live events locally, and working on a political campaign.
(Because the front-runner in our Governor’s race seemed extraordinarily ill-educated on the many issues around this “virus” situation, I got behind the guy with great ideas about how to protect the elderly, and our businesses and jobs, too.)
(Plus, he promised to protect our medical freedom, which you know is super important to me, and to this platform, at GreenSmoothieGirl — and now, Take Action for Freedom).

With all the negativity flying around, it’s so good to have people in my corner. For when I’m scared, worried, or I wonder how much longer I can push this boulder uphill.
If you think my time and platforms could be spent in different ways, to serve my country (and you) best, please write me back with your best idea. Thank you so much.
To your health!
