*-- How Often Should You be Washing Your Hands? --*

So to be blunt, you still need to wash your hands before eating, when you use the restroom, and if you cough or sneeze. It's still a pretty standard protocol.

One of the best hand washing routines is to wash your hands with warm water for at least 20 seconds.

Wet your hands with warm water and apply enough soap that you can work up a lather that covers them entirely. Next, rub your palms together, scrub the backs of your hands, and clean the back of your fingers against the opposite palm.

After that, clasp and rotate each thumb in your other hand, clean between your fingers, and rub the tips of your fingers against your other palm. Finally, rinse your hands with plenty of water before drying them, preferably using a disposable towel.

Washing your hands should take you about 20 seconds. You can also further combat the spread of the virus by applying a hand-sanitizing gel afterwards.

And not for nothing, but have you ever wondered just how dirty a hand-pump soap dispenser is? Spoiler Alert: It's Disgusting! And if there was ever a time to focus on fixing this sickening problem it's now, and the best part is you won't even have to get your hands dirty. All it takes is this Stainless-Steel Touchless Soap Dispenser.

Hey, Jim –
We sent this to a hundred thousand people.
As Dr. Devin says in the video below, "2022 came in hot."

"People are tired."
"People are hurting."
"People are frustrated."

People are feeling exactly the way you are.
We’re all feeling this collective tension together.

And – as it turns out – there are a ton of us.

For example, this e-mail was sent out to 100,000 people.
Which just goes to show you:
You are not alone.
You are definitely not alone.

Rest assured that communities are beginning to form around you.
Both online – and in person.
Check out this video from two of our co-hosts, Alec Zeck and Dr. Devin Vrana. In it, they discuss the importance of coming together, and the shared experience of feeling isolated (even when we’re not).

They also discuss our line-up of upcoming events – so you can continue to connect and expand your community.

Sleeping Too Much Increases Mortality Risk

By Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs

At the beginning of the 1999 comedy "Office Space," corporate tech worker Peter's hypnotherapist dies in the middle of his session, leaving him in a trance.

As a result, he stops caring about his job, which he hates.

The next morning, he lies in bed ignoring repeated voicemails from his boss, and doesn't get up until 3:30 p.m., at which point his girlfriend leaves a voice message telling him she's breaking up with him.

Special: The Death of Black Coffee?

Peter discovered what a new analysis of 74 studies confirms: Oversleeping can cause serious problems.

The research, reported in the Journal of the American Heart Association, found that people who sleep for more than eight hours a night are more likely to die prematurely than folks who sleep the recommended seven to eight hours.

And if you push it to 10 or more hours nightly? Then you have a 50% higher risk of death from stroke and a 49% higher chance of death from heart disease.

The researchers think that heart woes can come first, causing exhaustion and oversleeping.

But if depression is making you stay hidden under the covers, then chances are you aren't eating right, exercising regularly, or enjoying a supportive social life — all of which are risk factors for heart disease too.

So if you find yourself hibernating, get a heart health checkup. Then talk to your doc about starting talk therapy and a nutrition and exercise redo.

Also, set your alarm for eight hours after you go to bed.

Breathing Exercise

Breathing.
For many of us, breathing happens without much thought or conscious effort. And frankly, it’s something we often take for granted.
But, have you ever taken the time to really focus on your breathing? There are actually quite a few dysfunctional breathing patterns that many of us may be unknowingly practicing on a daily basis.
In fact, breathing impacts EVERY aspect of our health & helps the body to detox (not to mention it’s the quickest way to create a sense of calm).
I think that it’s about time we all started practicing these conscious breathing habits that promote better health, a boost in energy, improved sleep and reduced stress!
For instance, have you ever heard of heart-focused breathing?
Well, that’s exactly what Jane Hogan discusses here.
Jane Hogan "The Wellness Engineer" blends science and spirituality to help people release chronic pain using the mind, body and breath so they can become empowered creators of their own health.
Combining ancient wisdom with cutting-edge quantum science, Jane’s Wellness By Design Blueprint has helped hundreds of people release chronic pain naturally.
So in closing I’d like to leave you with a special task, download this f-r-e-e 3 minute breathing exercise to further your health journey.

Work and other commitments can be exhausting and you may end up putting off the work you need to do to improve your inner wellbeing.

But unless you put enough time and effort in to yourself, you won't be able to do everything you have to do in the best way possible.

Practice mindfulness and allow yourself to rest when needed. Take time to think about what you can do to increase your life satisfaction.

Prioritizing your inner wellbeing is going to put you in a strong position to calmly respond to the adversities you will inevitably face in your life.

Hey Jimi,
If something had a 95% potential to improve your wellbeing… You’d want to know about it, right?
That’s what Master Mingtong Gu thought after he healed himself of asthma, scoliosis and other health challenges through Wisdom Healing Qigong.
Master Mingtong's own story begins in China, where he grew up, with serious health problems from a young age. As an adult he learned the ancient Chinese secrets of Wisdom Healing Qigong energy medicine, and that experience not only cured his illnesses - it completely transformed his life.
But Master Mingtong had to return to China and stay at a special Qigong Center there to learn the healing practices that changed his life.
That Qigong Center in China, run by a physician and Qigong expert named Dr. Pang, demonstrated a 95% rate of improvement in a wide range of more than 200 different health conditions.
Problem was, most people around the world had never heard of this center and would likely have little to no opportunity to go there for healing.
This realization prompted Master Mingtong to train to become a Qigong Master, and to create The Chi Center so he could bring these powerful techniques to the United States. And thank goodness!
Now Master Mingtong is sharing his wisdom with the world. ❤️
If you or a loved one are seeking effective solutions for improving your immune system and protecting against uncertain health challenges, you need to read Master Mingtong Gu’s ebook, Ancient Healing Secrets.
-->Download Master Mingtong’s New Ebook F..reeee
Inside this powerful book, you'll discover…
>> The holistic mind-body-heart healing perspective of Eastern medicine (which is very different to what you might be used to!)
>> 5 ancient secrets that make Wisdom Healing Qigong so effective for health and wellness
>> The brain changes you can influence to create healthy new habits and let go of the past
>> The latest scientific breakthroughs that confirm Wisdom Healing Qigong's foundational principles
Get your copy of “Ancient Healing Secrets” (no charge)
Can’t wait to hear how this work empowers your own health, healing and wellbeing.
[Pssst! We’ve already started using these techniques and frankly, a day later, we can already report tangible differences in energy and health. :D]

Flour

With rising prices and shipping issues that seem to be occurring more often I saw this Zucchini flour recipe and want to give it a try. Zucchini tends to take over gardens so what a great use. It made me think, what other veggies could be turned into flour or added to a mix to extend flour?

What other plant could we grow top use on our property?

Zucchini flour

You let your zucchini grow, oversized is actually better. Large to extra large. Marrow sized. I peel mine with a carrot peeler, into thin even strips for less drying time. Or slide it through a mandolin for speed of prep.

Run it through the electronic dehydrator or just thread it. . No large seeds if possible for finer texture. Everything else is fine. It must be absolutely dry. It’s essential. If in doubt always dry it more, any moisture will ruin it during storage

Then run it through a food processor or hand grinder until you have a powdered consistency. It will be a marbled green looking power. Texture is similar to a good quality whole wheat flour. That is zucchini flour. Three large zucchini is about four or five cups for me finished.

It can be used to replace 1/3 of flour in most recipes without any change to the finished products, acts as a thickening agent for gravies, great for breading fish but we really tend use ours for tortillas and bannock since those are our quick go to breads. It also makes great dumplings and brownies.

Store in air tight jars , or we often vac pac ours

This was a link posted a bit ago here and I am adding it as it has great info

5 Healing Herbs You Can Grow This Spring

Hi Jimi,

Planting an herb garden is the perfect way to bring in the spring, and we humans have been doing it for thousands of years.

Putting our hands in the soil nourishes something deep within us, and there is now scientific evidence that gardening holds a number of measurable health benefits. The data shows that tending to flowers and simply being in nature can calm anxiety, lift symptoms of depression and lower blood pressure!

Not to mention the amazing flavor and nutrients that fresh garden-goodies bring to every meal.

Ready to create your own herb garden this spring?

Here are 5 healing herbs that are easy to grow, no matter where you live:

#1 Peppermint
(Mentha x piperita)

I consider peppermint an absolute must-have -- in the garden and in my life. Peppermint is an amazing ally for flu season, because it is known to break fevers, soothe pain and calm stomach aches quickly.

This plant is so low-maintenance that you'll hardly have to pay attention to it for it to thrive. Peppermint grows very quickly, and even faster if you regularly pluck their abundant leaves (use them in your teas or for other culinary purposes). Just remember to cut gently at the stem and not take too much too soon -- or you will damage the plant.

*Peppermint likes gritty, moist soil and partial sunlight.

#2 Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

These gorgeous golden flowers pop up in early summer -- if the seeds are tended to throughout the spring. For thousands of years, their bright petals have been used as an effective topical healer. Calendula is appropriate for any skin type, and can heal rashes, acne, minor scratches and bug bites. Taken as a tea, its petals also help to move lymphatic fluid properly and stimulate detoxification.

Plant these ASAP and see them sprout and bloom in the early summer. Give each seed about 12-18 square inches and bury them 1/4 inch into rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly to keep the dirt moist, but not drenched.

#3 Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)

Chamomile is a crowd pleaser for many reasons. Its small white petals spark joy in anyone who sees them and their pleasant aroma alone is calming. As a tea, it quells anxious stomach aches, brings comfort to sick kiddos, and relaxes tense muscles. A great before-bed herbal tea!

Chamomile grows well in almost any climate, but it's easier to start from a plant than a seed. Once growing, this soothing herb is incredibly easy to take care of.

*The strong aroma of chamomile makes them the ideal addition to any vegetable patch because they ward off critters and insects!

#4 Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Lavender is often the first green medicine that pops into our mind when we think of calming, sleep herbs. The scent of lavender is proven to bring down cortisol levels, which are behind our "fight-or-flight" stress response. Added to oils, creams, and salves, lavender is a powerful muscle relaxant and wound healer. But its legendary use has been to invoke lively dreams by promoting deep sleep.

Best grown from clippings of a mature bush, lavender reaches up and solidifies itself quickly. Because of its resilient nature, lavender seeds are best planted at least 2 feet apart -- and it grows best in drier soils, so keep that in mind as you're planning your garden.

*Lavender attracts pollinators of all kinds, making your backyard a sanctuary for local butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

#5 Dandelions -- (Taraxacum officinale)

To quote my friend Rosalee de la Foret, "lawn purists" have poisoned this beloved herbal remedy for decades, but it continues to grow.

Truly every part of a dandelion is medicinal. It's widely respected as one of the premiere liver detox herbs, and a tea made of its roots is a great diet drink that helps you burn fat.

If you haven't tried this yet, fresh dandelion leaves are an amazing addition to salads and pestos to give a little wallop to sweeter recipes.

It is highly medicinal and extremely flavorful when prepared the right way... AND its blooms and fuzzy seeds bring giggles and laughter to children.

For all these reasons, many of us believe that dandelions should be protected.

With these 5 easy-to-grow herbs, you'll have a living medicine sanctuary to support your health year-round... don't forget to dry plenty of herbs, so you have them for the cold months too!

Hey there Jim,
How you feel in the morning has a huge impact on your mood the rest of the day. A relaxing morning makes it easier to stay positive during your workday. Feeling stressed or angry puts you on edge. Is your morning routine helping or hurting you? Here are five of the worst morning habits to avoid.

1. Checking Your Phone Right Away

Many people keep their phones next to their beds. When they wake up in the morning, the first thing they do is check text messages or respond to work emails. Unfortunately, flipping on your phone first thing is a great way to ruin perfectly good morning:

•
Anxiety: The second you go into “work mode,” stress starts to kick in. People who look at their phones right away in the morning have a lot more anxiety than those who don’t.
•
Negativity: Instead of the positive feelings of wellbeing you would normally have after waking up from a good night’s sleep, checking work messages turns on your inner critic. This negative voice makes you worry you’re not doing enough or something bad is going to happen.
•
Productivity problems: Believe it or not, reading work emails first thing can make you less productive, not more. It can distract you from important tasks with other things that aren’t that urgent.

Give yourself a break! Make your morning routine a phone-free zone. If there’s something truly urgent, co-workers or family members will call you anyway.

2. Skipping a Healthy Breakfast

You wouldn’t dream of driving your car to work on an empty tank of gas, right? That’s exactly what skipping breakfast is like for your body and mind. Breakfast kickstarts your metabolism.

Do you tend to feel drained of energy or sluggish all day? Do you have trouble concentrating? Those are signs you’re not getting enough fuel. A healthy breakfast with plenty of protein is the best pick-me-up!

3. Watching TV

If you work from home, you may be tempted to flip on the TV in the morning while you get ready. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a laugh to start your day, but the problem is that TV shows are purposely designed to take up at least 30–60 minutes of your time. Once you start, it’s hard to stop, and you can end up “watching” your entire morning disappear.

4. Hitting the Snooze Button

"Just five more minutes," you say. Your body doesn't understand what that means. Hitting the snooze button throws off your internal clock, your metabolism and your normal sleep routine. This makes you more sleepy than if you had just gotten up right away!

5. Getting Angry

It’s not always easy for moms and dads (or couples for that matter) to avoid little irritations in the morning. Kids can make a mess or your significant other can leave the toothpaste tube squashed the way you hate again. If possible, push those things out of mind until later.

Create an enjoyable family custom in the morning that everyone likes. It can be as simple as a hug and kiss before leaving, or sharing a cup of coffee.

A Healthy Morning Routine

Set aside time for yourself in the morning. It's worth investing 15 minutes for stretching your legs, eating breakfast, breathing fresh air and making someone smile. The benefits for the rest of your day are amazing.

How do you start your day off right? What makes you smile in the morning?
Yours in good health,

Even getting out of bed, showering, or doing your laundry are victories worth celebrating. You are pushing through your fears and overcoming internal resistance.

You are making progress despite the confusion and uncertainty. You are doing better than you think. Keep supporting your needs.

Speak encouragingly to yourself. Always remember you deserve happiness. You deserve all the good things life has to offer.

Dr. Fuhrman: 3 ways this causes breast cancer

Hey Jimi

Warning: This could double your chances of getting breast cancer…

In 2020, a team of doctors from the School of Public Health at Linda University followed a group of 50,000 women…

And out of ALL those women, there was one thing that they ate that increased their breast cancer risk by 50%...

It wasn’t processed fast food.

It wasn’t red meat.

And it wasn’t sugar, either.

In fact, those researchers found that just ¼ to ⅓ cups of this per day, resulted in a big increase in breast cancer cases…

It’s milk.

Yes, for years the dairy industry has told us that "milk gives you stronger bones" or that "milk does a body good"...

But it turns out those were nothing but fancy marketing campaigns, designed to sell billions of gallons of milk… and directly result in hundreds of thousands of breast cancer cases…

In fact, even if you don’t believe me, or Dr. Fuhrman…

Researchers actually found 3 ways that dairy increases your risk of getting breast cancer

And since the Eat to Live Masterclass is coming up, I want you to have this information right now.

I want you to know the truth about dairy, and why you should NEVER drink it again.

You can read Dr. Fuhrman’s blog post about it here.
