Convergence of generative AI and genetic engineering raises new concerns

AI technologies now enable developers to even create "new-to-nature" proteins and organisms, which could pose previously unknown risks
A new report released earlier this year by Save Our Seeds highlights the increasing use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the development of GM plants, raising significant new concerns about their safety. These developments come at a time when the European Union (EU) is considering a far-reaching deregulation of GM plants engineered with gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR.
If the EU moves forward with this deregulation, GM plants created by automated AI systems could enter the market without detection method, safety testing or consumer labelling, exposing EU citizens and the environment to previously unknown hazards. Read more here from our friends at GM Watch.

Tell government: All genetically engineered seeds must be labelled!

The UK government’s consultation on whether or not it will label the seeds of new GMOs will close on the 14th of April. The stakes are high – they include the future viability of organic and non-GMO food production and the ability of growers and food producers to abide by their national laws. Switzerland to draft new law on GMOs

The Swiss government has launched consultations on a draft law on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and new breeding technologies to reduce pesticide use in agriculture and boost plant resistance to drought.
In response to public concerns about GMOs, the government is urging caution, according to its press release on Wednesday. The control mechanisms will be stricter than those set by the European Union.
The approval process must consider the associated risks. The government aims to promote innovation and more sustainable use of natural resources. The consultation period runs until July 9th. The current moratorium on GMOs has been extended until 2032. Source: SWI swissinfo

GRAS no more? Kennedy moves to end self-affirmed food additives

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took aim at a long-criticized food safety loophole on March 10th, directing the Food and Drug Administration to explore rulemaking that would end companies’ ability to “self-affirm” ingredients as safe without oversight.
The move promises “radical transparency” for consumers — but faces a steep climb against industry resistance and agency limits.
Kennedy’s order targets the FDA’s Substances Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) rule, which lets manufacturers deem ingredients safe by using internal data, often skipping FDA notification. Read on here.

A vibrant, healthy young woman living in Manchester. A loving daughter, sister, and friend. A woman with dreams, a career, a future.​

How perfectionism, self-criticism, or "type A" behavior can block your detox

Do you feel an unrelenting internal pressure to perform, catch up, get things done, get ahead, get better, or do better?

Are you perfectionistic and/or self-critical?

Has anybody ever told you that you have a "type A" personality (even if you don't agree)?

If so, there's a chance that your nervous system is not often able to relax enough to fully support detoxification processes.

The limbic brain and the polyvagal system are parts of your nervous system that constantly monitor and respond to signs of danger.

If these parts of the nervous system sense danger, they direct the body to avoid the danger via responses that can range from "fight, flight, or freeze" responses of the Sympathetic nervous system to polyvagal "shutdown".

By the way, polyvagal shutdown is often referred to as a "freeze" state, but there is also a Sympathetic system "freeze" state, so it probably makes more sense to use "shutdown" for the polyvagal system version of freeze.

All of these situations deactivate processes in the body that are not essential to avoiding the danger, including detoxification.

These danger-monitoring parts of the nervous system can be hypervigilant and therefore easily and repeatedly triggered.

Or these parts of the nervous system can be perpetually stuck in a perception of imminent danger.

Past "big T" psychological trauma is often the cause of these situations.

But other factors can also trigger similar nervous system responses.

For example, frequent self-criticism and the internal self-attack that often goes along with it can be experienced by the nervous system as a threat to survival that initiates a Sympathetic or polyvagal system response that shuts down "peace time" physiological processes like detoxification.

Feeling inadequate or worthless and/or needing to prove or redeem yourself can cause the same kind of nervous system responses.

It can also promote a constant drive to engage in "getting things done" activity even when you're exhausted and should rest.

One way this shows up is trying to complete tasks late at night when it would be far more efficient to just go to bed early and start fresh early the next morning.

All of this blocks your detox.

So an important part of preparing yourself for effective detoxification is becoming aware of patterns like these.

Once you become aware, you can employ short-term methods to counteract these threat-mimicking, danger-signaling behaviors until you heal the underlying psychological drivers and create new psychological habits.

Many methods can help you shift away from perfectionism, self-criticism, and type A behavior toward more self-acceptance, self-love, and internal peace.

If you attended the recent "Unblock Your Healing Process" challenge, then you learned about using the QCI vial to clear mental blocks.

The QCI vial can also be used to shift perfectionism, self-criticism, and type A behavior by creating "alignment statements" with which you use the QCI vial.

Poor Sleep Strains the Heart

Insomnia affects up to 30% of the general population, according to a recent Swedish study.

More than 200 genetic variants are associated with insomnia complaints. Researchers looked at health information on more than 1.3 million people in Europe.

The investigators compared whether or not genetic variants linked to insomnia were also associated with the risk of heart conditions and stroke. The study found that people with a genetic predisposition to insomnia had a higher risk of heart disease, heart failure, and stroke that affected large blood vessels. Other types of stroke were not increased.

Special: The Simple Secret to Really Good Sleep

The researchers also noted that the risk of a potentially dangerous irregular heart rhythm known as atrial fibrillation wasn't linked to insomnia.

Certain conditions, including heart disease and risk factors for heart disease such as sleep apnea, may cause difficulty sleeping, making it hard to determine which condition comes first.

"Good sleep is important for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease," said study author Susanna Larsson of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.

Larsson suggested that "individuals with poor sleep should try to change their habits and reduce stress to improve their sleep. Our genetic makeup has only a very minor influence on our risk of insomnia, which is mainly driven by behaviors, stress, and other environmental factors."

There's so much talk out there about what to eat and what to avoid that it's dizzying. Anyone with a laptop can now start a podcast and begin giving indiscriminate health advice and they do. I've seen a lot of folks get hurt by listening to bad advice and I urge you to be careful with the fad diets that are out there.
Generally, here's what we know-
1- Don't poison yourself - the additives, pesticides, plastics, synthetic chemicals and hormones added to our food, air, water and creams are proven to be toxic and should be avoided
2- Eat whole foods that are not processed as often as you can
3- Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and get in multiple colors daily
4- Get at least 1g/kg of body weight of protein daily
The above is what we know and there isn't a sane doctor out there that would be arguing with this advice.
Ok but then how do we get specific?
There's the rub and where listening to bad advice can be harmful.
I've been testing patients for a couple of decades and can say that every one of us is different.
I recently redid my gut permeability test and also tested for food sensitivities and learned a that I had sensitivity to honeydew. I love that melon and would have never known!
I've had people learn that all these years it was tomatoes or pears that were setting them off.
What if it's not the gluten for you and it's the eggs?
You can't really know unless you TEST IT and that's what I'm urging you to do.
Over the past three months, I've been helping hundreds of people get this type of testing for way lower than market price (you can't get this pricing yourself anywhere) and have been watching the results.
People are getting better.
When they avoid the few specific foods that they learn are harming them, we've seen inflammation come down, sleep improve, energy restore, rashes go away, headaches disappear, and so many more things that I won't go on and on.
This works and I urge you to take the test and see what's harming your body.
It's easy to think "yeah yeah I've heard of this before" and I've spoken with dozens of patients who thought they had their health regimen dialed in who learned A LOT through this test and were able to clear major health hurdles.
I did an interview with the founder of the lab that I urge you to watch and see for yourself.
You don't need to struggle. Chances are there's something in your diet that is hurting you. Wouldn't it be better to know?
