Your bar cart is so cute, looks great- assembling things I have been getting from Amazon, some are not so easy to do,lol. Sometimes it takes 2 people to help or would be a big help if I could find an extra person, lol!
This garden bench was not easy to put together alone, and then move it to my garden, but hey I had to get it done!
Thank you. I saw your butterfly bench in the gardening thread when you first got it, LOVE IT.
Yeah, I think everybody has to cultivate some kind of handy man. My old one, Konan (who I borrowed from my landlord), moved back to Mexico a few years ago. I have a funny story about him. He was so happy with his wife and new baby. He brought them to meet me. He carried around a pic on his phone, holding his sleeping baby girl against his bare chest, a look of peace and love on his face. He said "this is what I've dreamed of all my life". That photo could have been prize winning. Anyway, one day he asked me if I knew a good divorce lawyer. My reaction, "oh no, you're leaving Esme and the baby?" His reply, "no I need to divorce my other wife so I can marry Esme".
He'd always referred to Esme as his wife, so how could i know? Anyway he'd earned the name Konan when he was working in construction, when a man fell from a high scaffold and Konan caught him in his arms, probably saved his life.
Anyway, Konan would do anything for 200.00 dollars a day. The most he would divide that up was 100.00 for half a day, four hours, so I didn't ask for his services unless I had four hours of work for him, or unless he was going to be on the property doing something for the landlord, and could save an hour or two for me for 50.00.
After Konan left I called on a friend who was in real estate, and did a lot of repairs and renovations himself, getting places ready to sell. He's kind of a fuck-up and a bit challenged with real estate paperwork, so wasn't doing great at that, but he did things for me and appreciated the cash payment. He assembled this cute metal locker for me, which I tried to do myself before calling him, and it almost defeated him. I wanted this to put inside a closet. It's 50"H x 15"D x 15"W. This is the listing photo:
The landlady got even with me by borrowing him for a few projects. Then he bought a Little Debbies distributorship franchise, got out of real estate, and became busy all the time.
What you do with Amazon stuff that you can't assemble by yourself, is contact them for an assembler. Sometimes you can pay for the assembler when you buy the item. The secret though, is to ask the assembler if he'll work for you privately on future projects, cash payment, and if he does other handyman stuff. That has worked out for me, but they get to be so in demand that it's hard to get them.
