I hate to say it, but you are absolutely right about that. Dang hun. I hope you never sit on your glasses.

I think my Rx is something like -3.5/-3.25 plus the other adjustments for age-related farsightedness and astigmatism. The only complication for me (yet) is that I have EBMD and my vision can't be corrected to 20/20 any more.

I had to look that one up...I don't think I have that, but they were realllly checking this last time as I do sometimes get 'floaters' and stuff in the field of vision..comes and goes. I don't think I've ever had 20-20 vision though.

an i donwanna.. people on da roads are NUTS.

Yeah, I quit driving about 1998. Don't even have a DL any more as there is no point. Plus, I couldn't afford a car anyways.

I'm pretty sure EBMD is a hereditary thing. My youngest daughter, bless her heart, has it too. She went in for an evaluation for Lasik surgery, and they said Nope! You are not a candidate, and here's why. My poor daughter caught most of the unfortunate hereditary shit that her dad and I have - fibromyalgia, arthritis early on in her knees, EBMD, fucked up brain chemistry so she needs ADs all the time, nothing very serious for any one of those conditions, but thrown all together into a heap, I really feel for her. That's not to mention a metabolism that makes her want to eat carbs all day and sit around getting fat. She's had a rough go of it at times.

You really are fortunate to not be on any meds. I wasn't until I hit the age of 50, then it was Katie, bar the door! I've been able to do without a few scrips that I really probably should be taking, but god I just hate shoveling all that mess into myself every day. I'm down to 5 scrips now with 2 or 3 more that I just use as needed.

Beach is back to quiet, after briefly being popular after reopening.

I guess that people are going somewhere freshly opened, like massage parlours? (but gyms are closed still)

66 and take 1 prescription to help me get to sleep at night.
Herbal stuff would work as well but is not legal here.

i do take presc naproxen as needed for pain. Only take the presc type because it is cheaper with ins and can get in single pill 500 mg strength.

since I started using kratom I take lots less naproxen.

All the same here. The only indication of corona impact where I live now are the floor markers at the supermarket and plastic shields in front of the checkout workers. Nobody is bothering to social distance now at all. Anywhere you look they are crowded together like the past. Nobody wears a mask at all. It seems to have fallen apart, the social distancing, completely since the BLM protests where people have seen thousands all crowded together, they are doing that in most of our capital cities in support of that in the States and for our Aboriginal population. I have really noticed in the past week numbers of people back together like it no longer matters to stay apart. It seems or feels like they have taken it as a cue to end the distancing.
How is it there in the States? Are the numbers still really bad? Here is hoping the numbers are dropping substantially now.

Wow it's been a while since I have checked in:rolleyes:, been very busy. Staying well and ahead of the game here, we try to be as self sufficent as we can. KI seen some places it's spreading again, must be from all the protesters and some states getting lax on their opening back up:gaah:. Having a few more cases here per day:eek:. It's not over yet, stay safe and healthy;)

Pretty good day here....just watching an iRace b4 beddy-bye now.

Damn cat went rampaging at full gallop across the couch, just after I'd set down a dish of dip. Yup, it and her went flying allll over. Fucking mess!

Ever try getting french onion dip off cat fur? It's not a good time.
Can't let her lick it off either, 'cuz bad things in it for her as onions are poisonous for cats. Egads.

On the good side, tomorrow is Race Day and DaleJr is racing. :)

I've known about it for ages, but never really followed anime all that much.

Watched the hell out of Starblazers in the mornings before going to HS though. And seen all of their movies. :)

Also the new Mechagodzilla series is awesome.

Ever see this one?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nausicaä_of_the_Valley_of_the_Wind_(film)

I haven’t watched any lately, but I liked Cowboy Bebop, GITS, Big O, Witchhunter Robin and a few more. Basically they’re not teen romance stories, yaoi or not. And I like the music by Yoko Kanno.

You should check out Ghost. You may like it.

Hi Jimi. No, as I believe too, it cannot possibly be over yet as soon as everyone is acting like! How can it be so bad and gone so fast!? I really think people are acting very wrong! Ok, lets try to get back on track somewhat, but acting like it never happened so soon like I am seeing just doesn't sit right! Get back to business with precautions, yep, good. But they are getting back to business here like nothing ever happened! Bit worried to be honest.

Even if some people want to end lockdown et al, this check in thread has been a great idea. It’s nice to keep up with people on VU. Love you guys! <3
Yes, and to be honest it's where I am getting what I feel is the "real world" take on it all. So many people I bump into that I know and when we get talking about it and say "hey, these guys I know in the states, these are the death rates, this is whats happening!" Their eyes just about bug out with "are you serious?" Im "yeah, in places they are fighting over groceries and some places getting shot, every day!" They have been "no thats not happening its just some shortages here and there". Im sure they dont believe me. When I told some of the thousands of cases a day and the death rates you guys told of here they were looking at me like I was some type of nut conspiracy theorist! I really believe many here truly didn't realise the real true numbers that covid has taken outside of Aus because our case numbers have been so low. Even though there was footage of people in body bags and Doctors telling of the horrors, it has been like they were more like looking at a movie than real life and reacting to it all as such.

That’s so strange. You’re talking to us mostly every day, and we’re discussing what’s going on here...and they don’t believe it!!
Granted, it’s been unreal here, but for once the news has probably been right! Elmhurst hospital, the big corona hospital in NYC, is not too far from me. (Maybe a 30 minute drive.) They had so many deaths there, it was crazy. Our county had @ 1/4 of the deaths in the state.

But I think NY is well on its way to opening back up. I just hope it turns out well.

People here are talking about will there be a second wave of the corona virus. Heck the first wave is still steadily growing with no decline in deaths or infection rates nationwide. Areas have declined like NYC and some states but overall we are still climbing in the first wave.
https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/united-states?country=~USA US death rates

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-cases US case rates

Yes increased testing can account for more cases however not for the still increasing Corona Virus deaths.
No politics in this post just numbers...

Be as safe as you can out there.

Good morning!

All is well here, happy and healthy. Hubby smoked a big chicken yesterday, so good. Yep, pigged out! Lots of it left, too. Jessie didn't want any, doesn't much like people food. Moths, flies, crawlies of any kind, she's on it. Oh, and her treats, she won't let us be late on those!

Stay safe and healthy

My black kitty, Katana (R.I.P) , loved peanut butter, it was so funny to watch her eat it. May I suggest, try some with Jessie. She may or may not like it, but it sure will be funny to watch her if she does.

And, you didn't invite anyone to your scrumptious smoked chicken dinner :D :teehee:

Just FWIW.... :)

https://furrytips.com/can-cats-eat-peanut-butter/

I wouldn't do it personally, just too much sodium and fat, and can cause diarrhea or be a possible choking hazard. But its not poisonous.

Cold rainy windy day with possibility of strong thunderstorms today...I like it. Milly, is more on the side of 'meh' about it. She doesn't like the howling winds very much.

We awoke and I got the coffee on, I did the cat duties, watched some local news.
The miraculous beverage of winning is done now...such a fast coffeemaker. Even on the slower 'bold' setting. xD

Milly was snuggly and wanted to be petted..this is as still as I could get for a pic..hehe.

Protests continue here, less violent than initially. Not sure how much I like the thing..it's become way to political. https://www.khq.com/news/downtown-s...cle_532469e0-aaa7-11ea-9f68-f3a82687a619.html

Covid is still going on, we're going up and down on cases as the local gov't tries to figure out wtf to do. Our dumbazz Gov and our Mayor are at odds bigtime.

Still getting used to how quiet the LR is with the new computer. It's nearly silent unless under load, which hasn't happened thus far.

VEEEEEEEERY glad I did my store run when I did.

Mily and I are good for the weekend, bring it Nature.

I'm two blocks from a Hospital... so my power will never go out for long and my Internet is fed by a nice big box on my balcony fed by underground fiber. The install tech was jealous, I have lower SNR than he does and I pay $9.95/mo for 30/5. =)

Trucks race @ 4:30 PST....

I thought I heard that Dale's doctor told him if he took one more good bash to his head, he could go permanently to la-la land. Did I not hear that? If I did then wth is he doing getting back in a car? Crazy man.

IDK, he hasn't raced live in months, pretty sure he'd be cleared to race by now. NFL doods do far worse with far less protection all the time.
According to him on his show, he's pretty good.

Newman raced the other day, he nearly died in his wreck. If anyone knows the danger of head trama and racing, it's the son of Dale Sr.

Did she do the kitty head shaking thing? My black cat used to be so funny like that if we gave her something sticky to eat.

Smoked chicken sounds yummy! I’m doing plant based food now, so even eggs are not on the menu.

That Caramwhatever dude is a complete and bonafide enema nozzle :poop:

Argues arrogantly with everyone and is not nearly as smart or knowledgeable as he thinks he is

The sad thing is he can be an okay person sometimes. I’m not sure why people get nasty here over things like mechs or builds.

Got a dam nearby?
I used to have a Fox Terrier. Was a fantastic little hunter for rabbits and foxes. But loved to roll in dead rotting animals.
Took him detecting one day and he found a rotting wallaby to roll in. Was unbelievable the smell. My usual was to throw him into a diggers dam to get some off him. This time was bad so Id throw him in the middle, he'd swim out, throw him back in whilst saying "get back in there you vile mongrel animal where you belong" I did this about four times. I get this feeling im being watched and turn around to see this guy just standing there with a horrified look on his face. He thought I was trying to drown him . :giggle:
My attempt to explain it was what I usually do and its all ok he's just a dirty dog didnt seem to work and he just walked off without saying a word. :D

Thanks, and sorry about the dinner. I'll remember next time. Hubby snacks on peanut butter by the spoonful. He has offered it to Jessie to smell (she has to sniff everything), but she just backs away. Won't try chicken, hamburger, cheese, eggs. She did eat a few bites of a pork rib once. Picky. But she know how to tell what time treats are due!

Stay safe and healthy

Nice and cold with rain here today. Our Aussie society had its happiest announcement on the News last night. Was the first story on! More people to be allowed back into pubs to drink!
Imagine being a reporter. You get to work and they say "hey Jack! You got the top stories today, high five bro!"
"Yeah!? Cool, what are they?"
"More people can go and drink alcohol, Cindy from Melbourne east found her cat in the next door neighbors yard asleep on a chair and its gone viral on YouTube and leading health professionals that told us Coffee was bad for you now say after a $35000000 study that there is a small possibility that it may now be ok to drink. But they need to do more studies!"

In the real world I see things getting a whole lot uglier with the stuff going on everywhere. Hope everyone here is well and stays out of harms way.

Sunday night check in, yes it's been a while again. My brother, the one who went into the hospital back in March for a routine surgery that would keep him there for four days:rolleyes: and got out after 3 surgeries and seventy eight days later, in May. He is back in the hospital with a blood clot in his groin area:eek:. Every day he was out of the hospital he has felt like shit. They have him in ICU now:eek:. So things have been hectic.
Other than that we're doin good here, stayin safe and healthy as we can.
I seen some places where they opened up virus cases are on the rise again:gaah:
Stay safe and healthy;)

Good to hear you are doing well too. :)

Today me and the wife went to Ballarat, a large country town in our state to get some things not available in our small town. An hour and a bit drive. Got an Air Purifier for when we get smothered in smoke in our area which is typically about 5 months every year. Farm land burn offs, fuel reduction burns and bush fires. Got one that has great reviews and recomendations from asthma foundation for $60 off and picked up a great fishing rod that was $100 for $39. Good trip, shopping wise that is. But saw zero social distancing even though over the music playing here and there were announcements reminding people to do so. Got some serious agro on the road there too, one instance I expected an accident as a guy went nuts because I was obeying the speed limit and overtook me into really close oncoming traffic. Was glad to get home. I seriously hate going to the bigger towns and cities here. Once or twice a year feels too much to be honest. If I could, I'd never go to them.
Otherwise we are good?
