I've had to get this straight with my husband recently. He can ALWAYS buy coins, you can ALWAYS go on vacation.. but after Aug 8... you gonna be able to buy more vape gear????? Now or never.

Since I got my vape mess on the counter straightened, all the mods right together, all lined up, today my husband comes over, "Holy shit, I didn't know you had THAT many mods!" ROFL!

Well, those are absolute shit. Bought a bunch of the clone slotted coils from FastTech. Put a pair in the Petri awhile back. They're not at all like the real slotted coils, which I already knew and which I finally saw up close for myself today when I got my Merlin (oh THANK YOU, ROXY!!!!). Flavor sucks, vapor sucks, hot spots. They're really just a fat ass band at each end, with a regular springy coil in the center. Ripped those out, and put in a good old fashioned dual 9/10 4mm 28ga S.S. which check in at .73 ohms.

My Petri is back. China, if you're going to clone something, at LEAST try to understand the original design intent. I'm saving it, but I'm guessing the much more uniform, more rigid, real slotted coil works much better.

NOTCH coil. That to me looks like someone got too lazy to wind Kanthal around a bit. "Ah, here let us cut slots in stainless steel tubes with mr. plasma cutter, tack it to two electrodes on each end, pass to vapers, profit."

Actually did see toothpicks put together once using a plasma arc cutter. Tried it myself, got them together but only briefly. It was a shame.

I'm all for unique designs like this and innovation, I just didn't particularly like the performance of this thing. It couldve been done better. But, I guess for the middle to lower end of the market it's a step up from a crappy standard kanthal coil on a subohm tank..

Wut?! I have some Kanthal. I think it's in the PIF box. Fancy wraps aside, even just plain S.S. under temp control, is the SHIZ! Well, YMMV. :)

Hell I do good with it, without temp control. * chuckles * Doc Spanky tells me though. "stainless steel wire is the bomb-diggity." I do not know yet and do think one day I may like to try it but I'm in no great rush. My eyes still recall getting flash burnt on stainless steel once trying to arc a tig electrode on it. Some dumb ass thought it bright to joke with me, foul up the box while I started a bead.

That was a WUT!? minute too. Peeled the hood off and got splash blinded in pretty arcing colors. Knew better but I could not see what I was doing. Kind of irked me because I was doing as a buddy suggested, trying to do it like brazing. That took me a bit to learn w/ a torch. Did not get the idea of the flux following the heat path. It just didn't sink in for my kidney. Knew it but applying it was a toe stubbing.

Am aware it's unlikely a mod would make SS wire arc. Still a bit weary though. Recall some other facts about SS rattling in my noggin. Aware too as far as vapng, think we don't push it too far. Stainless Steel can be rather toxic if it breathed in while heated to the point of itself becoming vapor. Like I say though, we don't get it that hot by a good long-shot, that I'm aware.

When you use aluminum coils if you use them at high temps like above 80 watts they clog up quick and dry burn pieces and juice just fly and squirt in your mouth.... And funny on temp mode it doesn't burn the cotton..... Weird shit.....
