I've never heard of a dairy keeping a bull (steer) for that long, but if you can get them weaned, HELL YEAH! That's the best way to do it.
You've been listening to The Authorities again, haven't you?I know a lot of people follow vets' advice to the letter (which includes a lot of money making stuff for the vet), but trust me, you can raise cows with nothing but grass and water. I've had my little herd for 9 years now, and nobody's ever gotten a vaccine for anything, and nobody's ever gotten pinkeye. I've had to give antibiotics a time or two for a bout of mastitis, and one 5-week preemie calf needed some steroids and antibiotics for a lung infection, but that's it. (The calf made it, by the way, and grew up to be a fine fat steer.) Once they're past the "fragile calf" stage, they're pretty indestructible. Clean bedding, clean pasture, clean water, and you don't usually have any problems.
Exactly. Only cows raised commercially need all that crap done to them, because of the filthy conditions they're kept in. I'm quite certain it's EVERYTHING to do with how much money the vet can extort, and nothing to do with a real cow's real needs, when kept in humane conditions.

That's when she recognized me. So I will be getting a Merlin autographed with Petey the parrots foot print

The only person I've ever rode with who doesn't make me sick as a dog is my fiance.
