But not always true -- I love tea, I love garlic, I love blueberries, and I'm quite fond of chocolate... which all turn out to be good for you, in one way or another. But yeah some very beneficial things taste pretty awful -- everytime I open the bottle of B complex vitamins I'm reminded of that; the smell alone is enough to knock a vulture off a shit wagon.

But I daresay you'll never find me eating algae. :giggle:

Awww come on that slimy stuff growing around the lake shore is quite tasty.
to some fish and snails that is.

Ahh the old 'if it tastes good spit it out' thing.
Medicine must taste bad, etc...

Must be something started by Pentecostals?

Everything fun is a sin to them.
It shouldn't bother you if you're not one of them. Just sayin.:p

Actually it's the puritan mentality, brought to North America all the way back in 1620, and which has persisted ever since, despite modern attitudes to pleasure and pleasurable things -- y'know, like the baptists who won't make love standing up, it's too much like dancing. :D

I really wish england had burned those joyless bastards at the stake instead of letting them out to pollute north america and then most of the world with their joyless life-sucking attitudes.

But they get laws passed and such. Remember the Sunday closing laws?
And tax breaks for a Noah's Ark theme park, etc...

Remember I live in the Bible Belt. Non believers are demons here and a bit persecuted.

An event I remember from childhood.

On asking why Jesus drank wine and it is a sin.

"Ohh they did not have safe drinking water there."

Well then why did he turn water into wine?

"I told you their water was unsafe to drink"

Jesus could not just purify the water?

"go stand in the corner"

Man. Sounds like whoever answered your questions was an idiot.

The punishment for questioning was a lot harsher than that so I quit asking - and quit believing as a pretty young kid

yeah same here.
One can only stand so much hypocrisy.

I did however learn to see a longer and bigger picture than most.
My mind never stopped questioning although my mouth did.

And since I am one I guess I'm not wanted.:(

ahh but the difference is you are not trying to force your religion on us.
Those are the ones we are talking about.

You are both liked and wanted.

real Christians are fine people.
Unfortunately there are not nearly enough of them.
Religion is the problem not the faith.

This Thread should be renamed to the Christian haters Club

You know we love you - and none of my comments were aimed at you or Christianity

I dislike organized religion of every stripe but have never attacked anyone's personal beliefs period, only shared personal experience

No worries. We love ya.
Thanks. I really am sorry. You guys need to vent about this without me getting all whiny and crap on you. I was not raised the way you guys were. If I had a question about God or anything else in the Bible, my family or church members answered it kindly. No one said I couldn't dance. Or be happy. Just obey the Ten Commandments the best you can. And accept Jesus as your savior. And if you fail that's fine because it doesn't matter as long as you are trying to do your best. Everyone fails and it's expected. People built me up.... not tore me down.

I grew up in a loving family although my mother did go nuts when my father died. We went from going on vacations every summer and having money to being almost destitute. I can remember waiting tables and an old, so-called rich friend of mine was with all his friends. I gave him the wrong spoon for his iced tea instead of a teaspoon and he was infuriated at me. I think he is one of fake Christians that you guys speak of.

I drank some wine. And I found a dumped off young Pitbull. He was so afraid but I coaxed him to follow me home with a sausage. Unfortunately he almost took my hand off he was so hungry. I got out of the car and he actually jumped all the way up and grabbed it out of my hand!

Anyway poor baby. He had his tail between his legs the whole time. I came inside and rinse my hand off and it wasn't bleeding so it's all good. I fed him some dog food and gave him some water. I had to sit down on the ground and talk to him because he was so scared.

Hopefully he will still be here in the morning and I can get him to trust me more. People are so horrible dumping off dogs like this. It's awful. Anyway I named him Danny after a friend that loves his Pitbull. And hopefully he will stick around and I can take him to the vet by next Saturday we shall see.

But seriously Atcha, Animals are at their most dangerous when scared.

Oldest granddaughter has a scar on her face from a stray Dalmation that the son and his then wife took in. Stupid thing to do with a toddler in the house....
I went to shoot the dog but the pound had already picked it up before I got back from the hospital.
the son and his wife laid low for a while as well.
