I will be stepping away from VU for a time at least.
I will not go into the reasons except to say Some posting on this board has been tolerated by management and perhaps even encouraged by some. The posting in question does violate rules but seems to have been selectively enforced.
the posts have to do with politics, racism, bigotry and lots of nasty hatred.

Just posted this so no one wold think that something happened to me healthwise or something like that.

And unfortunately NO I am not allowed to go home to Beta Triangula 6 yet either :(

Everyone have a good life and love and help others.
I will miss many of you.

You'll definitely be missed!!!!

I am sorry to hear of this but understand and respect your views on those subjects. Know I discussed some politics. Tried to avoid racism, bigotry, hate though. Those are things which I do not hold as being needed. Rather not discuss politics much either but to say I think it's all corrupted.

Will miss you being around & hope the best for you and yours.

I just remembered that my seven year vapeaversary was August 20th.

CONGRATS!!!

Today, er, the 21st (it's already turned the 22nd by now but you know what I mean!) was my husband's 27th anniversary of sobriety -- he was kind enough to finish off the 12pak that was still in the fridge when I quit. :D

And hey, more good news... the spawn found a job! :bliss: I'm shickled titless about that. And yet more... my recent portion-control efforts are paying off; I've lost 5 lbs! I've been buying "shapewear" lately because all my old stuff is just... old... and yesterday, trying on a cami-with-built-in-bra, I found that the size large fits me... and the extra large was TOO BIG! I am so farking delighted about that, but I can't say I'm shickled titless... another cami that I ordered by mail came today... the bra part fit fine (it was sized by bra size)... but the rest of it was TOO BIG!!! :bliss:I certainly never saw THAT coming... I was the titless wonder for so long, but hey, all I needed was a little weight, and bam, hooters! :giggle:

That they do. I had a colon blockage that was a week in the hospital. They let me out and within 36 hours I reblocked and had a mini heart attack. So they rushed me back to New Orleans and operated on me. But its all well now :)

Damn choppie! REALLY GLAD you're better now!!! Get some double-fiber bread, and frosted mini wheats! ;)

PS: BTW, has anyone seen Atcha lurking around here? I'm not here as often as I used to be, so the few times she pops in, I probably miss her. :( And I DO miss her!

Keep it up, they will make you into Robo-Choppie. :) *hug* Glad to hear better news.

And @AndriaD , glad hearing of good news all around and congratulations on the sobriety. I apologize for not saying earlier. Kind of been scrambling a little here & just was well being my normal idiot introverted and half anti-social self.

I think it is the case. Saw her discussing it in the Bonkers thread and when she contacted me pm to send a package. They were going "more off grid" in HI, said for a while her Internet access may be spotty. At least that's what I understood from our brief talks in pm.
Thanks, Mist :)
Just saw a post by her in another thread, so that was good :bliss:

Well, I was heading to the rack. *chuckles*

Think life, as it is wont to, has seen us gradually drift. Do not think it is a good, or bad thing, only a thing.

Busy doing lots of nothing here. Recently, debating internally to be a paid book reviewer, or not. Does not pay much but it pays and every bit can help. Besides, I used to enjoy reading. Maybe give me a little incentive with it, I can enjoy it again.

Also got started with some crochet. I really should have never started that. It can be addictive. Not gotten anything made yet but might. Having fun learning / re-learning it. Learned that I do not want to knit. Would poke my eye trying to knit, or lobotomize myself. "Ah, that's how I get disability." *chuckles*

Hanging back too and hoping the company my wife worked for does not screw her out of her employee stock ownership, pay out. Spoke with her dad about that today briefly. He agrees that it is likely they're going to try doing that. He understood my frustration but could not offer a course of action. Kind of thinking I might suggest one to the wife, it keeps dragging out.

Well, I'm afixin' ta, ...

Well, I'm afixin' ta, ...

I've taken up a new hobby too -- sewing! I never had a sewing machine, but I was in a position that a huge amount of my clothing needed alterations so I didn't look like the circus fat lady after a starvation diet. :D The portion control/snack control diet is really paying off, but unfortunately it's not paying in money, so it's not like I can run right out and buy a new wardobe. So my husband asked me, if he bought me a sewing machine, would I learn to use it? I thought about it for maybe 20 seconds... might have been 30... and figured that if I could teach myself HTML/CSS well enough to create a ton of websites, I could probably teach myself to use a sewing machine, too! So I got a fairly inexpensive Singer, the 44S; I think it was about $150. That was 2-3 wks ago, and I'm close to running out of garments to alter, so I might soon take the plunge and try to *make* some garments.

I've lost 9 lbs. Which doesn't sound like much, but I wasn't really dreadfully overweight; according the BMI chart in my doc's office, I was right at the top end of normal, for my height. But I've just gotten fed up with rolls of fat around my abdomen and even in my back -- the latter is from steroid use I think, my asthma drugs. I'm a smidge under 5'7", and was at 141 lbs when I started, and now I'm at 132. Thankfully this godawful heat will soon be outta here, and I can take up walking again.

That's awesome. Always good to learn new skills. :)

Uh huh, you got bitten by the learning and doing bug. That's good to read. :)

I've lost 9 lbs.

Congratulations, that's a wonderful thing to do! :) I would need to about 175 pounds to get anywhere what is considered a healthy weight, never mind the BMI. That would put me down to 175 pounds, which is half my current weight.

Been working a bit with some suggestions from a doctor who has a Youtube channel, a Dr. Berg. He actually doctors and doesn't believe in handing pills out like candy. Lots of his focus lies in stuff like a body's ph, mineral / nutritional deficiencies, exercise, using food as medicine. One of his videos dispels a lot of myths about water, one being it can be used to burn fat away. As he says pour water on a slab of fatty bacon, see the results.

Thankfully this godawful heat will soon be outta here, and I can take up walking again.

Sounds like a good plan. :)

Cool on the weight loss. Just had a big drop myself but that was from puking for two weeks and then two weeks in the hospital. 25 lbs but damn tha was rough :p

Awesome on the seamstress! I love things like that where you can be creative. I been doing that with making leather bags and purses.

I would post a picture of some bags but VU been so fucked up lately that it is refusing. 53kb is too large, go figure.

Leather laptop bag and over night bag I made last week.

70505295_2470726436325781_5213938418710478848_o.jpg

Damn, I love those! 'Specially the laptop bag! You know me, anything about PCs and I'm all over that. :D

Most of the stuff I've been altering, I'd be embarrassed to post pics of, because it's mostly... ahem... undergarments. I finally had MORE than enough of FUCKING WEDGIES and got some of that elastic with silicone backing, to put in the legbands of my panties to keep them OUT of my ass! And at the bottoms of camisoles so they stay put and don't roll up. I recently discovered they're WAY more comfy than damn bras, plus give me a little abdominal support and no huge dent in my back-fat (fucking steroids!), and that, coupled with the small weight loss, is why i suddenly care a lot more about how my clothes fit. When I was all here a roll there a roll everywhere a roll roll, I wanted my shirts BAGGY. :giggle:

But also, all my leggings. I've always had to buy XL to get them anywhere near long enough, and have always had to run some elastic thru the waist, to keep them up, since my real size is not XL, but L (though now M in some things! woohoo!). So now, the rubber in the waist really isn't enough, they need to fit more snuggly thru hips and thighs or I really do look like the circus fat lady who went on a crash diet, or maybe a little kid dressed in mommy's clothes. :giggle:

The most challenging aspect of all this is that most start sewing with woven, non-stretch fabrics, but i really don;t own any clothes like that, mine all have some degree of stretch. It was very frustrating until I discovered 1) correct needles for stretch knits, and 2) a special presser foot for the machine, called "easy-feed foot" or "walking foot" -- it's really a tool for quilting, when you need to sew multiple layers, but it's also awesome with stretch knits, because it lets the material feed properly without stretching.

myths about water, one being it can be used to burn fat away. As he says pour water on a slab of fatty bacon, see the results.

That's true; just the fact of drinking water won't make you lose weight -- but I read something earlier in the summer, right around when I first started this diet, dealing with keeping the metabolism running normally, which is a real important thing for women past menopause. I used to have a metabolism like a Saturn 5... now it seems to be somewhat more like a Volkwagen. :D And apparently it requires more water to burn fat, than simply to maintain the status quo. Given that I do vape, and have been borderline-or-slightly-worse with dehydration for a large part of my life, AND that I'm quite serious and motivated with my portion control/snack control diet, I figured drinking some extra water was a really good idea... so every morning when I first get up, I down a whole 20oz bottle of water before I ever start on my tea. It certainly isn't hurting anything, and might even be helping.

One of the really cool things about metabolism and weight loss, is that after you lose a little, it seems to boost your metabolism so you KEEP losing weight.

I'm of an amenable mind toward what you say. Can agree being hydrated can not help, up to the point one avoids becoming water intoxicated. At that point water becomes more likely to be fetal to drink. Until I ran track in high school I would have laughed at someone getting drunk off water. After you see it happen and or have it happen, you stop laughing.

I try to drink at least about a liter of water daily. If it isn't plain old estrogen loaded tap water I'll drink some of either Kroger's or Dollar General's carbonated fruit flavored water/s. I trust my body to let me know when to stop drinking water. Learning you can trust your body with a good bit. :)

+what is the attraction at quora?
i whizzed by there but didn;t see much.

Not sure about the attraction, other than being able to ask questions of people on the internet. I hang around there and answer all the idiotic questions about vaping that I can find, just in order to add my own 2 cents towards countering all the lies and ignorance that the media keeps spreading about vaping. It's a neverending job, but someone's gotta do it, so there is a rock-solid core of vapers there who add their own 2 cents to the anti-ignorance/anti-lie voice. My son asks me frequently why I "waste my time answering idiots," but actually some questions asked there are NOT asked in good faith by those who simply want to know; many of the anti-vaping questions are posed by the bullshit artists themselves as rhetorical devices, and those are the ones that most need to be shot out of the water.

Any of you that can stand it, please come add your voices! Vapers who know the TRUTH about vaping are desperately needed! The bigger noise we can make, the less those bullshit artists can keep getting away with it. This is a very different world from the one in which all the bullshit artists managed to persecute smokers for 30+ yrs -- we have the internet now!

This is an example of a rhetorical-device question that was asked this morning, and my answer to it:

What are the symptoms of popcorn lung from vaping?

You don't get “popcorn lung” from vaping — nobody, in more than a decade of vaping, has “gotten” it. You get it from inhaling vast quantities of “butter” powder when working in a popcorn factory — that's why the media gave it that stupid name.

The condition is VANISHINGLY rare, and is incurable — it completely destroys the lungs, and only a lung transplant allows you to survive it. Unless you work in a popcorn factory, you don't need to know the symptoms, because you don't have it.

I was debating on whether you even deserved to know the right name for it, given the total ignorance of the question, but knowledge is a good thing, in the face of ignorance. The ACTUAL name of the condition is bronchiolitis obliterans. And again, vaping doesn't cause it, and you don't have it.

---

You see I played along as if it was a "real" question... but the way that the question was framed, sliding in that "...from vaping" is a sure indication that it's merely one of the smoker/vaper haters advancing their politics.
