I have an Ivogo Velocity clone that's just great. Easy build, great flavor and endless airflow options.

I also have two Petri 1.5 clones that are awesome as well. Outstanding flavor, perfect airflow for me and they both came with the matching Dotmod style drip tips. They're a bit more of a PITA to build on because the posts have two holes side by side and one screw to hold down the leads. I use 24 gauge and it can be difficult to get the screw to hold both of them down.

Try a sleeper coil in the Petri. Once you have the first coil made and adjusted in the Petri, you can tighten the lead down and only have to deal with one side. It works with most 2 post RDAs.

I have an authentic Vulcan RDA, lovely vape, no nonsense, extremely easy to build on, heatsinks work great. Air flow will be too restrictive for some. I don't like the "wide open" style and I think this atty is spot on!

I'm a lil behind on getting the newest things only pick up new attys every couple months or so and if I'm lucky a new mod when I have the extra money besides that most of my money goes into juices, cotton, and wire. But as of right now is my velocity (great for the flavor and cloud chasing.) Love the 2 post design is fun to build on other than your standard 3 nd spilt 4 post decks.

Had one for the past couple of months and I like the Vector since it has massive post holes for fused claptons etc. Not a cloud chaser by any means but for flavour it is top notch. The top fed airflow is just enough to cool down the vape while keeping the vapour nice and dense & the mesh within the drip tip is good for stopping any unwanted spit back.
There are 2 negatives though 1. You cannot use your own drip tip & 2. there is no option for single coil airflow.

Love my Wotofo Troll with a couple of fused nichrome claptons and the flavour and cloud production are superb however I also spend a large amount of time using my Twisted Messes as it is sooo much fun to fill with stupidly large builds for the sheer hell of it.

I just got the Tobeco velocity mini. You can have the airflow wide open or close it down pretty tight, and it comes with an adaptor to put in a small drip tip. Flavor is fantastic!
You still liking the Tobeco Velocity Mini, @AmandaD? I'm thinking of getting into DIY. Hadn't occurred to me, before, but I guess an RDA is the most efficient way to test.

(It also comes with a squonker pin, so I think I'm going to put it on my Reo!). It's incredibly easy to build, which is a huge plus in my book.
What is a "squonker pin?"

It's a pin on the 510 of your atty, that has a hole in it. Your tubing from your bottle of your squonker mod hooks to it. If you didn't know, a squonker mod is usually a single battery mech box. REO is the most recognizable brand name. You can find some mods out of China though.

Yes, my favorite little RDA. The squonker pin is just a 510 pin with a hole drilled through it so that it can be bottom fed by something like a Reo Grande!

Very well. Maybe one of the LVS' carry it. Otherwise it's waiting until well after the 1st of the year. Probably ;)

Ah. Something for which I've no need, then. Thanks!

ETA: Poked-around on the 'net a bit. Must be a popular product, because everybody's out of stock--except NWVape, I think it was, had 'em in baby blue and an 'orrible shade of green.

Picked up a Velocity RDA (clone, I assume) for $15 at an LVS, yesterday

Velocity_in_box.jpg

Yeah: Green splatter. Couldn't resist :D

Interesting airflow control options. Didn't want to seat all the way down on my eVic-VTC Mini, but judicious application of file to the screw head fixed that. Used some 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper to "polish" the result up a bit.

I'll build something on it a bit later today. See what happens. So far my Marquis clone has been my favourite, though my Plume Veil does have its advantages. This one will be my first dual-coil RDA build. And the first with a chuff drip tip.

Welll... I'll say this: The deck is crazy easy to build on. There's enough space to hold a football game in there. (N. American or rest-of-the-world type.) Just for grins I built a pair of of coils using 28 ga., 10 turns at 3mm. Came out to 1.2Ω. Had room to spare. Wicked it with Elfwick. Fed the result Mystic E-Liquid's Verdea Tea.

Maybe I should have gone with a sub-ohm build? I suspect I'd need at least 24 ga. for that. Maybe 22 ga. Unless I wanted ridiculously tiny coils. Maybe tried a juice with a little more "presence?" Dunno. With it set for indirect airflow, or direct with a bit of restriction, the thing's producing slightly warm, major storm system-sized clouds. Dense, too. (If I exhale slowly they just sink to the ground.) But the flavour I'd hoped for doesn't seem to be there.

Could be a bit of vape burnout, too, I suppose. Was vaping a really rich savory juice, Mystic E-Liquid's Peanut Butter Parfait, all morning. I'll set it aside and give it a try first thing tomorrow morning.

You could just twist some wire and wrap some coils.

If your post holes are big enough that is...

Twisting wire in a drill is pretty quick and easy.

I usually run my coils in an RDA sub ohm, down at around .5 ohms.

So I quickly vaped with the Velocity Mini, first thing this morning. There is taste, but it's not the taste I expected. Maybe I need to play with the build. I will say this, @AmandaD: So far my Marquis clone with a single-coil build blows away that Velocity clone for taste.

I know they're much different builds (single coil at 1.15Ω on the Marquis, dual coil at 1.2Ω on the Velocity), but this result appears to be in keeping with @Shark Vape's (and others') theories regarding design vs. taste vs. cloud production. The Marquis has a much smaller build deck; much smaller, more concentrated intake airflow and a much more narrow drip tip bore, as compared to the Velocity. The Velocity takes much more power (35-40W to generate any kind of flavour, vs. 25W on the Marquis), chucks massive (to me) clouds and isn't near as flavourful.

So, so far, of the three RDAs I've tried: Plume Veil, Marquis and Velocity Mini (all clones): The Marquis wins on taste, hands-down.

You have to build low on a velocity....
You have to build sub ohm on this rda to produce flavor..

I kind of thought that might be the case. Haven't given up on it, yet. Just haven't decided whether to:
  1. Twist up 28 ga. Kanthal
  2. Twist up 26 ga. Kanthal
  3. Wait until tomorrow and buy some 24 ga. Kanthal
  4. Wait until tomorrow and buy some 22 ga. Kanthal

I have 2 regular size clone velocity, collecting dust right now... It's just not for me....
I bought my buddy a mini, slap 22 g 5/6 wraps on it, closed the smiling airflow just enough and WOW it's a flavor/chucker... Good luck Jim

Do you recall what it came out at, resistance-wise, with 5-6 turns of 22 ga.?

I regularly use 24 g kenthol. each twist gives me .1 ohms. 9 twists and two coils gives me .45 to .48 ohms every time.

By "twist" I understand that to mean coil/turn/loop? At what diameter? (e.g.: 2.5mm, etc.) Right around 0.5Ω is where I expect I'd want to be.

From their advert I think an LVS is having a NYD sale. I'm gonna head on over there to see if I can pick up some 24 and 22 ga. Kanthal for cheap. (And hope I'm strong enough to pass on the Sapor RDA I know they have behind the counter. Cuz I need another RDA like I need another hole in the head.)

Correct. Twist was a wrong way to put it. I meant per coil.
I usually make coils with 3.0 mm Inside diameter.. But going down to even 2.0 ID doesn't change it a whole lot.

Been enjoying this petri. Probably one of the best flavor attys ive ever used, though cloud cap reduces some of that flavor in favor of bigger cloud production. Gold plated contacts for optimal conductivity and peek insulated deck counters the heat which is pretty bad ass. Plus it looks sick on my gold efusion.

Got 13 heavens 9 hells and double vision rdas both on the way which i ordered last night at 2 am a little on the drunk side i guess i felt i needed those in that state so that should be cool when they come hahaha hopefully wife doesnt check the bank for a few days i spent like 400 in vape shit this week

Is 0.44Ω low enough, do you think? That's what I ended-up with with two coils of .24 ga. Kanthal, at nine turns each on a 3 mm mandrel.

I tried a max VG juice with a little more "presence" than the one I tried yesterday. One I've been "tuning up" a bit. Results were underwhelming. Other than needing more wattage to get things going: Vape seemed little changed from yesterday's. Flavor was just "meh." I'll try it again, first thing in the morning, on a "fresh tongue," so to speak. If that still fails to produce a flavour "pop," I'll re-wick it again, and put that PB Parfait I've been using in the Marquis clone in it. A:B the two.

.44 is way too high for my liking JIM,
I don't use kanthal though, and I don't VAPE max VG, I mean I do have max VG juices that I just to mix with other juices...
Not sure what to tell you,
But one thing I know,
For sure for the mini velocity
22g NICHROME 5/6wraps raised up 2.5 mm diameter 70/30pg juice
Insane flavor, in ur face,
9 wraps is just too much IMO..

I'm not a fan, so far. But I continue experimenting with it.

There's another recent RDA thread where the Sapor receives favourable mention two or three times. An LVS recommended it when I bought my Velocity Mini clone there. But the Sapor was $10 more and I wanted to try the VM. If I get another RDA: It will be that Sapor, most likely.

It's the perfect rda for flavor and yes it doesn't leak, all the expensive rda out there has nothing on the Sapor, I'm about to buy another one to match my fuchai

I haven't quite given up on it, yet. If I can't get the flavour I want: I may keep it around just for the sheer volume of clouds it chucks :). But if I decide to part with it: I'll give you first crack at it. It is a clone, you understand.

Avid never did make a mini, but Tobeco did call it a Velocity. So it's an authentic redesign of their clone... So it's a floor wax and a desert topping.

Jim - fwiw, the Sapor gets a lot of love but some folks hate it too. Never know till you try. So, what else is new?
