I still buy a lb. of pipe tobacco about every other month. I don't use it but I buy it for my neighbors. I've lived in this nice low income apartment building for the past twenty years and all my neighbors have come to depend on me for a smoke or two when funds run out. The tobacco I buy is the cheapest stuff you can find; $13 a lb and tastes horrible, but it was what I used ever since California started raising taxes on the back of smokers.

So I keep it on hand for people to roll their own in times of need. It keep us in touch with each other. I've only convinced one person to take up vaping so far, but they know I'm into it if they want to try it.

Aw :)

That's very kind of you caddis...and I hear you on the tax thing...that was the reason I decided to try e-cigs.
Thanks tax people! :D

I wish I could convince the people I know who smoke to switch, but I don't like to be pushy so I rarely say anything.
:(

Yeah, I'm not the pushy type. Pushing never worked on me and I suspect many others are the same.

BTW my notifications started as soon as I posted something. Maybe if you don't post anything for a couple of days the stop coming. At least from this thread.

I just mixed a 6ml sample of HIC's Tiramisu recipe and I tried to shake and vape it and I get mostly the coffee. Is this one that needs to be steeped? How long? With 7 flavors I am assuming that is my problem, that it needs to be seeped. I do 0mg nic but I was not an everyday smoker, I was debating on going back to cigars or pipe smoking and my wife was vaping. So I decided to start vaping myself now I am mixing and a hobbyist. She vapes 6mg and my kids are going to try and quit the ciggs so I see some 12 or 18 mg mixing in my future. I am glad to do to keep us all of smoking.

Congrats on keeping your family from smoking. Mixing your own juices gives you the flexibility to customize things to your liking. Im assuming your talking about the strawberry tiramisu, right? To me this is good as a shake and vape, but does improve after a few days steeping time. This has become an ADV for me and I usually mix 120ml at a time. HIC offered a couple of variations so you might consider reducing the tiramisu if the coffee taste is too strong for you.

after vaping for close to three years...and having chased the unicorn, and tried countless builds, every wick material that's come down the pike. after trying juice after juice expensive and cheap....DIYing my own juice seems to be giving me the missing piece of my vaping puzzle.I am finally getting juices that appeal to my tastes that aren't sickeningly sweet and overly flavored.with flavors that appeal to me...
It's funny there seems to be a real lack of immagination among juice makers...there seems to be about a dozen recepies that most juice makers produce or variations on them....sort of like going to safeway to go shopping.they aim to appeal to the broadest spectrum.
I have to say I'm really surprised at what a diffrence a tailored e juice makes toward the enjoyment of my vaping. the money be damned.but it is nice not to have to shell out 30.00 for 30ml.

Pulsevape, have you tried RocketPuppies RY4 recipe? I bet I've made 100 recipes in the last year but her RY4 remains my ADV. I have played with it some and this is where I and my daughter are now:

RY4 R Puppy 10%
Nicotine Strength 14.00 mg
PG Level 50.00%
VG Level 50.00%
Amount to make 120.000 ml
Ingredient, Ing %, Drops, Weight, Volume
*Nicotine 100 VT VG, 14.00%, 588.0, 21.168 g, 16.800 ml

*TFA Acetyl Pyrazine 5%, 0.50%,
*FA Vanilla Bourbon, 0.50%,
*FA Vienna Cream, 0.50%,
*FA Caramel, 0.50%,
*TFA RY4 Double, 10.00%,

Recipe called for 5% TFA RY4 Double.

You are right on about supply & demand with vendors selling sweet ass, coil clogging, limited flavor range. The best thing is the flavor variety....rum, coconut, lemon, lime, cardamom, apricot, Vienna, custard, oh my. Apple pie, cookie, mandarine, bergamot, he'll yes! Forest fruit, bilberry, meringue, vanilla & brandy! What tiny additions of spices or liquors can add is incredible. Papaya & mango, don't forget Irish cream! I'm in hog heaven!

You really hit the nail on the head there, @pulsevape ! It is such a sweet moment when you take the first vape of your own DIY and realize you've made something awesome. I remember ordering vendor liquids, anticipating the great flavor everyone raved about, taking that first vape then wondering why it tasted like %$#@ to me if everyone else praised it. I wonder how many people give up on vaping at that point.

Vendors' lack of imagination surprises me, too! Many copy each other's hits (and I think often use DIYers' recipes) so it's rare to see original flavor ideas in the vendor world. With all the flavorings available, there's no good reason for that. If I didn't have the variety that DIY allows me, I doubt vaping would have worked for me.

In some ways I'm not toally surprised...as an advid foodie who loves to cook...I know I go to what 90% of the population would consider rediculous lengths over food to the point of growing alot of my own vegetables in order to get the most flavorfull and freshest ingridents for a dish.....I know what you mean, so many times I would read glowing reviews of an e-juice and eagerly await it's arrival in the mail, finally it would arrive and I'd put a fresh build in my atty....only to discover it was total unvarnished drek...drek.
If you took away snickerdoodle, cheescake,"exotic tropical fruit" and sweet and sour carmel dipped breakfat ceral watermelon...half the juice companies would fold overnight....What surprises me the most is the total lack of craftsmenship....I think 5 pawns was the first juice I tried that attempted craftsmenship.usually it's some hamfisted slop that tastes like it was mixed in a bathtub by someone with the palatte of a 12 year old that went shop lifting a candy counter at the local 7-11.

that's FA Blackcurrant by it's European name, right?
Awesome flavor! It's both sweet and tart, like ripe blackcurrants squeezed into juice. There is no alcohol to it, no fermentation at all - just fresh fruit/juice flavor. Excellent mixer with all the berry and fruit flavors. It's one of my favorite FA fruits, partly because there are few treats here in the US that feature blackcurrant.

Just a heads up the recipe was updated recently: 0.2% AP. I like it like this and 0.3%. I was experiencing a sort of ambiguous "bubblegum caramel" taste fully steeped with 0.5% AP that was still very pleasant but less AP lets "brown sugar and licorice notes" (as I describe it) from the RY4D come through better. Just my $0.02

Yeah creme de cassis is made from blackcurrants......and is delicous has a sort of wine like dark rich flavor.

Thanks for the reciepe... I've been making my own Naturally extracted tobaccos for awhile now, and just lately I've been starting to add flavorings to my NET juices...I have been quite surprised at the results, and in some ways it has redefined what an e-juice should be for me.This receipe would fit in well with some of the stuff I've been making.

Vanilla Gelato TFA has very pudding like undertones but more vanilla extract than pudding. Not what you were asking I know...
Ingredients for real homemade vanilla pudding: milk, white sugar, cornstarch, salt, vanilla extract, butter
For everything besides the cornstarch: 2-3% Vienna Cream, 1% Fresh Cream, 1% Vanilla Classic
That last 2% needs to be corny or simulate it... custard (pudding and eggs)?

Maybe a drop of oba oba or cocoa to get that powdered milk texture and/or note, depending on if you're going light or dark? Fresh cream has some unsweetened cream notes if you want. Enough ranting, here's a blind stab at vanilla pudding:

2% Vienna Cream
2% Custard
1% Vanilla Classic
1% Fresh Cream
0.5% Marshmallow/Oba *opt
<0.25% Cocoa *opt. (powdered milk texture?)

LMAO!! I recently got a free juice sample with an iStick I ordered and I'm wondering if it actually came from a horse's ass.

I know! Not my quote, came from dude's previous post, but the one I quoted was in the original email notification I got. I read that and about spit the water I was drinking all over my desk! Got a visual from the movie "Road Trip" where the guy stuck the French toast down the back of his pants. Only in my vision, it was a bottle of juice.....LOL!!

An FA version (w/o vanilla) might be 2:1 Custard and Vienna Cream. Maybe 4:2 or 3:1.5 %'s. Maybe a drop of oba oba or cocoa to get that powdered milk texture and/or note, depending on if you're going light or dark? Fresh cream has some unsweetened cream notes if you want.
That's awesome, I know you didn't mean to quote me, but I was wondering what tfa vanilla bean gelato tasted like!

The recipe I was using and I will have to go back and find the exact name tomorrow but it had 1% Tiramisu and 6 other flavors all at around .5 percent. I think I will try it again with .25 tiramisu and than add some cheesecake to give it the mascarpone taste at about .75 percent. I will see how that works. I have a friend who is a new vapor who loves coffee and may make her the recipe that I thought had to much coffee taste.

does anyone know how to make strawberry taste like strawberry preserve or jam. I made my first juice today without a recipe. I know it is not anything special but I like it. Going to play with it and see if I can maker it better.

Strawberry FA .75 %
Strawberry Ripe TFA 1%
Fresh Cream FA .75%
Vienna Cream FA .75%
Marshmallow FA .5%

I am sure it is not original but I was happy. I seem to be getting a hand on figuring percentages of flavor I would like.

It will probably be all strawberry, maybe some marshmallow etc if it's not round enough. No cream. Strawberry Ripe TPA tastes simpler like jam imo. The challenge would be keeping it from getting too sweet or it'll taste like candy. This would be especially difficult in a heavy VG mix for this reason I think. Could be wrong.
