I use protanks and minis. I make my own coils. I keep a bunch of them so I can swap out on the fly. I've always used 32g kanthal, 4 wraps for roughly 2.2 +/- ohms. I just made one, came out at 2.3 ohms. I make another, it comes out at 5.0 something. What? I tested on an ohm reader and an MVP. Scrapped it. Made another and another. Same thing! What the hell is going on? This is 32g from Temco. No issues before, so why all of a sudden? >bam!< Jacked up ohms. ???

Don't think it's the Kanthal. Temco is great. Whenever I've finished wrapping and installing a new coil and it is jumped way up to like that 5.0 your talking about, it has always been because one of my wire ends we're not fully secured...... You know, like making good contact. Like it's touching but not tight.

Just my experience. Haven't wrapped a pro tank in ages though.

Weirdest thing. So it's possible I'm cutting the leg TOO short? I always try to clip them as close as I can so they don't poke out.

When that happens to me, it's usually because I didn't clip the legs close enough. The ohm reader will go crazy if even a tiny amount is poking between the post and the insulator.

I'm not sure about that pro tank build. Anybody else? I remember one wire goes through the middle and one on the side of that grommet.

Anyone else know or remember Where a connection problematic be? The coil touching inside that cylinder wall? Could that run the ohms up high ?

Sorry Huck, been a long time for me rebuilding a pro tank. I don't remember if that happened to me on that build

Yeah, I try and watch for that. I didn't see or feel anything poking out. (that's what she said, just cuz you know someone wants to say it)

No worries, I appreciate both of ya chiming in for me. I'm gonna keep at it, cuz this is too weird to not turn out right. The first one was fine. I've been doing this since some time last year, so I'm not brand new at it, but something's not right.

Yeah, that too. But for me it's usually been a problem with the legs. Another problem is not getting the legs positioned opposite of each other or displacing one when pushing the post in. Aaack . . . coil building can be frustrating!

I do remember one thing, of all the coils I have made, horizontal, vertical, twisted, crazy ass coils, the pro tank rebuild was trickier for me than any coils I make now. :)

Then I'm ultra talented!

OK, finally.... I don't know what went differently this time, but I got another 2.2 Jeez, 3 in a row were over 5 ohms. Thanks for all your input guys. Apologies to everyone for the coil building info here.

It means it's not connecting. something is loose or touching what it shouldn't be. you'll either get the 'check atomizer' or a high ohms reading.

Oh hey, Smokachino, that's really good info. Never ever considered that! Good stuff. Thanks for building a coil with me, guys! That was cool :)

I'm drinking cocoa made with coconut-almond milk, spiked with anise.
And I'm thinking, I'd vape Cocoa plus Anise...why have I never tried that?
So you know what I'll be mixing next.
That sounds quite yummy atm, too. I was thinking of coffee, but cocoa sounds good!

make sure everything is make a good connection everywhere and nothing is loose. sometimes the center pin gets a little loose and the cube thing and insulator get a little loose and my ohms get a little crazy. I know pro tanks and kayfuns are different but still just make sure everything is nice and tight, maybe its the mod to. check those contacts . I dont really know why yours is but that always seems to be my problem. something somewhere is loose.

It hit the spot - hadn't had cocoa in months, and there was some Ghirardelli cocoa...

Now I have a Big Red soda. hahaha! WTF is this supposed to taste like? My guess is cream soda plus bubble gum. The manufacturer says almond, but I say they're being intentionally misleading. :p

I got ever so adventurous and changed the Bilberry to Forest Fruits in my Bilberry-Apple Pie-Custard tank, still at 2% of each (roughly).

The taste changed more than I expected! The pie crust is more to the fore, and it seems less custardy. Very nice :)

Big Red soda goes great with White Castle cheeseburgers. For those days when being ultra bad. Like last week, the power went out, big storm, boyfriend had to pick me up from work because I also had a flat tire and the spare had a nail in it (wth did that happen?). That was an ultra bad day and White Castle was open at 2 a.m.

I had about 1ml of solo FA Oakwood and about 1ml of solo NF Almond cream left in a couple of tanks after testing them .. so I poured them together to finish them off.
OMG ...yummy
Now I need to find some FA replacements for the Almond Cream and I've got a good tobacco recipe.
Sometimes my "leftover" tank tastes better than my pre-planned stuff, but I end up with a pretty good flavor (if I can duplicate it)

Huck ... I've ran into the same wicking problem as you did a few months ago.. somehow it mysteriously went away.
It drives you crazy when you have doing something for over a year with no problem, and then for some puzzling reason it all go's to shit

When I used PTs, I stopped clipping ends, and reverted back to twisting them off. The end breaks off just inside the grommet, so there's never and issue with an errant legs sticking out too far. That causes all sorts of stuff, like weird shorts, and resistance issues, to hot legs, etc

I recoil my protank heads (actually, easier to buy wick-and-wire precoiled, but I have recoiled from scratch), and this sounds like Swahili to me. 'Weird shorts' and 'hot legs' - must be related - snicker...

I've been riding a scooter for about 35 years and I'm so over all of the black leather look and generally just hop on the big hog while wearing my weird shorts....... Although my legs get hot, I've not been accused of having hot legs for about 15 years........ :)

I did try one little quick mix for my daughters friend .
I used about 6 % of Cap strawberry and cream ( kept going 2% at a time ) till I hit 6% and thought " wow, this is a lot "

So, wasn't much cream in there so I threw in 1% each of FA fresh cream and Vienna cream And it wasn't bad.

Daughter tried it and said " how bout more Strawberry". I'm like "really?"

So I gave it 2% of FA strawberry.

She Iikes it.

All I could think of was how much better a mix someone else here has made after taking their time with it.

( this is when someone says " Hey, next time, try this"

:)

I would have have gone 3-4% FA Strawberry, 1% Vienna, and 0.5% Fresh cream. Left out the Cap all together. That 1 and 0.5% is my normal cream base. And that strawberry is just amazing!

OK I need to read ahead but too lazy to do so and go back. I'm sure it's been answered, but either leads are funky (try nail clippers to get close) OR for whatever reason your head isn't making good enough contact to the center pin.

I guess you got it figured out but a bad 510 connection can cause those problems also.
Yeah that was my thought as well, darn pin on the mvp especially likes to get pushed down and reading gets all funky.

Just mixed up this one. I find Mango very strong and overpowering. But authentic. I'm going to dilute the flavoring and try at even lower percentages.

Sunrise Smoothie
1.5% FA Banana
1.5% FA Vienna Cream
0.25% FA Peach
0.25% FA White Peach
0.25% FA Papaya
0.25% FA Orange
0.25% FA Mandarin
0.25% FA Mango

@HIC...look familiar?

So you agree with my note about Mango in there, huh? I remember testing that one - couldn't believe 0.25% Mango could push around 1.5% Banana. They're really opposite ends of the FA strength spectrum!

Really? I've never had to adjust my MVP. Just my ego, lol. And the ego batt.

Yes, thankfully I did get 3 good coils going. Thanks for the offer Curly. I'll keep that in mind.

I do! It really does bring it all together though. I think even at .15% or lower it would still have the same effect but be less intrustive. This mix is delicous as it is but to me, just a tad heavy on mango. Crazy at only .25%, I know!!
