Win 7 Home Edition. Downloaded updater and latest firmware version, extracted etc. Tried to follow Hohmtech video, nothing seems to be working as shown. I've tried so many different things now I don't know where I am. I'll go look for raymos version. Thanks

For me it was as simple as go to the website. Download the updater. Open the updater by extracting all the files and what not. Then downloading the firmware version 2.5.5 and opening it in the updater and away it went. Super easy but I have heard problems with some

This may be an issue, the 2.5.5 downloaded to a seperate folder, so I dragged and dropped. But seems like it didn't want to open in the updater folder. Go try again...

yeah, windows won't open the 2.5.5 .dfu

The hohm tech stuff is designed for Windows 10. Raymo made it so it would work with older versions. Try one of his. When I downloaded 2.5.5 it went to my downloads folder. I just dragged it to the hohm tech folder that was created when I downloaded the updater.

One other thing to check that tripped me up for about an hour... did you turn on the update port in the mod? you have to go through the settings and turn it on before you can update.

Update port was activated. The STDFU.dll from raymo and the 2.5.5 update will not open "windows can't open this file"

At the FSK Chip updater it wants to open *.dfu files but none are found on the computer. I guess this is because the 2.5.5 won't extract. IDK, frustrating.

Now when I'm trying to update the mod is completely shutting itself off and when I restart it all the settings have gone back to what it was right out of the box.

My Updater with the latest Update: :LINK

Make sure you take out the Batteries on the G2, Open the Updater. Then Plug in the G2, replace the batteries and then go into USB Mode. It should see the G2 and let you update right after.

I click on download for your file, it looks like it's downloading but where it goes I do not know. Its not under downloads at any rate.

Do I have to sign up for this Media Fire?

Well I've been fighting this fucker for a couple hours now, need a refresh. The lake looks glassy so go kayak for awhile and then try it again...

No, it should download to your downloads folder, refresh the page if its not working when you click it, be sure you have your pop up blocker turned off.

@AlbyKortoona, some people use a user accout and not the administrator account so it helps to stop hackers and what not. If you are doing this than you need to log into the administrator account as you will not be able to do updates from a user account.

There is also about 3 USB drivers in a separate folder with the Hohm updater you downloaded, they are USB drivers and one of them should work for you.

Refresh did nothing, it looks like it's downloading then there is no box in the lower left of the screen and nothing in my downloads folder. Right now I have update 2.4.7. With this firmware, in the XXX mode should I have auto-tc enabled?

First impression of G2 is not a good one. Why they would put out updates on their site that will not work in Win7 is beyond me. I'm hating this motherfucker and Hohmtech right now.

It can be frustrating that its not working on your PC, although I do blame Hohmtech for not making the updater to work easily on more OSs I dont think the mods to blame. Make sure your using the bit OS for your computer, try this LINK and follow the steps I mentioned earlier. If you cant download from that link then your computer would be suspect IMO.

You should read through the thread to see all the tips from posters and get all the info you can, 90% of any question has already been discussed in detailed form so it should be easier to find what works and what doesnt work as well.
You do not want AUTO TC enabled...its just a battery killer. xXx Mode is a ALL- METAL TC mode and most of us suggest using that mode only for all your TC needs, all you need to do is adjust your FSK Tempo Curve and your good for anything you put on it.

Thanks for the link, but will not download. I did get 4 popups in the background though which I saw when closing the browser. I give up. Anybody want to buy a silver G2?

This firmware does not have xXx, it is XXX. And yes, it blew thru a set of batteries in auto-tc in a couple of hours.

In XXX the TC does not work. Using kantal/nichrome framed staples in a Petri I set the temp for 350 and wattage at 151. With wet cotton it just kept firing and burned the wick until I let off the button.

Alby, Raymo is a great guy...I'd bet if you shipped him the mod he would upgrade the software.

There has to be a pop-up blocker or whatnot on your puter preventing the upgrade.

When I tried updating the software I had the same problems using win7 home edition. It was my browser's pop-up setting (Chrome). Once I disabled the blocker and followed Ray's instructions it took.

Like I said, I would suspect its your PC....that was a link to a Auto Download, it should have downloaded it as soon as you clicked it. If other ads or anything popped up I would start a wipe on your PC and some malicious file sweeping also...If you seriously going to sell the mod many of us will snatch it up quickly...If your looking for a trade then what would you like?? I would love to have another G2 in my possession ;)

That link took me to mediafire.

OK, gonna bust out the laptop and get it cabled into internet access for one last gasp.

Same thing on the laptop. Looks like it is downloading with big green arrow pointing to bottom left of screen, but get nothing.

Thanks for verifying that. I'm using the same chrome/win7 so it beats the shit out of me. This firmware I have now is terrible, so for the time being all I have is a dual battery wattage mod. :(

You could turn off Google’s Safe Browsing feature in Chrome to avoid this from happening in the future.

Load chrome://settings/in the browser.
Select “show advanced settings” at the bottom of the screen.
Under Privacy, locate “Protect you and your device from dangerous sites” and remove the checkmark from the preference.
This disables all phishing and malware checks in the browser including download checks.

If you rely on those, it is better to keep it turned on considering that this impacts other security features such as phishing protection as well.

Note also that Chrome will display a “This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want to keep [filename] anyway?” warning even if you have disabled the protection feature under privacy.

If you happen to open the downloads page by loading chrome://downloads/# you will notice that the files are listed there including an option to “recover [the] malicious file”. If you do that, the file is restored on the system so that it becomes available one it.

I used IE and pasted that url in there and got the download. I'll give it a try here in a bit, mixing ejuice for some people who will be here soon. Thanks so much for the help.

lolll, these things are insane to try to upgrade apparently. I had a bunch of problems too, but eventually I got it to work and it updated properly, but in all honesty, other than the 20 watt bump I didnt notice a big difference in it personally. But I really dont use my G2 all that much. Even though its probably the best TC mod out there, the ergonomics of it with the sharp edges and big boxy shape just dont do it for me. Kind of a bummer. I hear the Hohm Slice is suppose to have the same chip as the G2 only in a single 26650, more ergonomically shaped mod.

Get to FSK Chip udater and it's blank? Looking for a .dfu file I think but there apparently isnt one. The 2.5.5 .dfu file in raymos files cannot be read by windows.

And the G2 is shutting itself down

Trying to run the HohmWrecker G2 updater.exe, guessing that is the correct executable but there is also a .dfu.exe

If I try to run the Dfumanager.exe it wants to extract or generate a file, but there is no list of files

I emailed hohmtech twice asking for help, not a peep out them...
