You mean like food, shelter, and fire?

I have it now, but still stuck at not being able to get the .dfu file. Thanks a lot for your help OD.

The DFU file is in the folder. I don't have this mod so I'm not sure how the updating process works. I did see 2 applications, 1 is a DFU file manager and the other is an updater. If I were to guess how the updating process works I would say, open up the updater file (Hohm Wrecker G2 updater.exe) then click open, you should see 2 files (FSK G2 2.4.4.4.dfu and FSK G2 2.5.5.dfu) select G2 2.5.5.dfu and click open, you should get a message at the bottom of the screen saying "Ready for update: *turn devices update port on, then click update..." do as the message says and click update.

I don't own a G2 and I may be wrong, rather be safe and wait for someone who did the update to reply.

And make sure that you have installed the driver located in the driver folder, select x86 if you have a 32 bit Os or 64-bit if you have a 64 bit OS

Even with the wirRAR utility, win7 can't open the .dfu files. I didn't install the driver, this version of windows is 64 bit, I'll go give that a try...

I downloaded raymos updater twice, once using chrome and once IE. One of them has a Updater Raymo Edition V2 folder. It seems to execute automatically with a double click, but get an error message that the dymamic link library (which I leery of messing with) file STDFU.dll is not on the computer.

If I use the updater.exe file I get to FSK Updater and windows can't open the .dfu file(s). Tried extracting driver, STDFU.dll, and .dfu files to the folder with winRAR, but just trying different shit at this point since I'm completely confused.

You don't open the DFU file, the app inside the folder should do it... I think it's the updater.exe file... load the DFU to the updater and begin

After extracting @raymo2u 's file you should get these contents.

Can't figure out how to load the .dfu file to the .exe. And I think raymo did that in the V2 folder, but this V2 .exe halts when the STDFU.dll is not found.

GTG, but thanks again. I'll check this thread when I get back to see if you have any other ideas

Just double check and see that you have all the same files as in the pic above.

Well I'm doing something wrong or there is something wrong with my computers. But at this point it's :deadhorse:

The thing does work well in Ti and SS temp control. With 316L it works better than my dna200. And it's light enough that I can hold it with just thumb and fingertips, so the ergonomics are tolerable. Kind of glad I didn't throw it against the wall last night, came close though lol.

Maybe someday I'll get 2.5.5 and be able to experience the wonders of kanthal temp control.

All versions of the firmware I've used work with kanthal.

2.4.7 does not temp control kanthal. At 350 degrees it just keeps firing until it will burn a wet wick.

I was going to try 7zip but while looking for a download came across articles detailing serious security flaws. I don't know if it's an issue for an individual user like myself, but feel hesitant to use it until I find out more.

That is not temp control then if I have to lower the power until it doesn't burn a juiced wick.
Not power, the FSK.

Set the temp to say 400, the wattage to 50 (for starters), and adjust the FSK until you get a vape that matches those settings. 400F should be a bit cool.

When dialed in you can bump up the temp and wattage (faster ramp up).

FSK is sort of like setting a TCR for other mods, just a lot easier once you get the hang of it. The temp and power is dependant on the FSK you set, just like setting a custom TCR on other mods to match the metal you are using, the biggest difference being that TCR's only work for the TC metals, FSK works for every metal. One thing that works for me is to lower FSK just to the point that it will not light up the coils, then bring it up a little at a time until you get the vape you want. I use that method if I want to vape my cotton dry to switch flavors, works like a charm.

I only use XXX mode and for me kanthal coils work in the 1.5 to 7% FSK range, SS coils in the 12 to 17% FSK range.

A lot of people on here were frustrated in the beginning because it is different, myself included. Once you figure it out though you will love it, it just takes time and patience.

I had the FSK set at 9%, wattage maxed out at 151 and temp at 350 in XXX. So the FSK was way too high. I'll try getting the FSK set with just some bare coils, no wick and see how they light up to get in the ballpark. Guess I'm stuck in a dna200 mindset. Ti and SS modes work fine, but it does seem to pulse wildly compared to the dna200. Thanks for the help.

Do yourself a favor and watch Ben's video from Hohmtech. He does a good job of explaining how the board works.

I am not sure it really works with dry cotton or bare coils, I am pretty sure that was the problem phil busardo was having when he tested the G2.

Yeah, you have to forget what you know about TC with the DNA200 because it is different. Was the 9% with Kanthal coils? If so that would be too high IME.

Did already, raymo sent me a link to that video. But that was before I had the mod, so it was rather confusing. I'll check it out again...

Yes, kanthal coils with wet wick. Burned the cotton and juice stinky black. Couldn't get the stink out of the coils either and tossed them. That gave me a sad face as they were staggertons that I had purchased.

For TC to work correctly on the FSK board you must be pulling air across the coils, cotton burn tests won't really work. Not in the way it does for other temperature control devices.

So if you are pulling a lot of air over the coils, can you turn the FSK up higher? And vice versa, if you're using a mtl tank does it need to be turned down?

Temp control is working in XXX mode with SS. It seems to work better than SS mode.

The e juice I make is designed for lower power levels. The way I set my g2 for tc is by vaping in power mode to see the power level. Let's say it's 45 watts. Then I go to tc mode. I leave the joules at 45 watts and I set the temp at 400. I know that's cool but remember my stuff is made for lower power to get the flavor. Then I go to fsk. I found 3.3 to be good for that. For my stuff it is great.

I tried the whole set the temp at whatever you like and joules to 151 and fsk to whatever. That didn't work for me. It was always too hot.

Maybe I am doing it wrong but it works for me.

XxX mode does work better since it isn't a static setting, it's all most of us use.

You can turn the setting up a little, 0.x percent perhaps if you do fast pulls.

I still don't have something right. Temp at 400 and watts at 60, I get dry/burn hits at 2.2 FSK. Start working down .1 FSK at a time and nothing seems to change much until 0.7 FSK where I get no vapor. Start working back up, and get no vapor until 2.2 where it returns to dry/burn hits. Should I go lower on temp and watts? This is with 28k/36k aliens at .4 ohms.

I see you guys referring to the triple X mode in lower and upper case. This one it is all caps; XXX

ok, I'm starting to think something is whack with this mod or firmware. Now it just stops firing from time to time in XXX with kanthal coils. Up and down with the FSK - nothing. Tried shutting down and restarting - nothing. Going in to the main menu and reselecting XXX gets it firing again.

Something is definitely wrong. Went to switch back to a SS .6 braid and it would not read the new resistance, just stayed at the prior .4 until I turned it off and back on. Now it won't fire the SS in XXX, had to go back to the SS mode. Need a firmware update...

Well I tried to by hitting the fire button to get the "connect atomizer" prompt. No go. Then I held the button down until the "check atomizer" left the screen. Nope. Had to shut down and restart.

2.4.7 It's been behaving pretty well lately, but for now I just don't have kanthal temp control. Spent too many hours attempting updates on my win7 computers. Microsoft is offering a free upgrade to win10, so tried to put that on my laptop. It takes a few hours to download, and a couple hours to install, and both times I tried it stopped at 99% complete on the install. Done with that shit.
In happy news, I got some real carbon fiber panels and put them on the G2. I like the way they look.

Just putting this here...
I'm selling my wrecker g2 silver standard edition. I posted in trading post hardware section but figure I'd go here to in case anyone is looking and doesn't see my for sale. Selling for 75shipped. Includes 2 married hg2 batteries.

The carbon fiber pieces I put on the G2 were applied with a 3M adhesive. In theory they would be removable, but you might destroy the pieces getting that done. Don't know why anyone would want to, they look tits....

I don't think the photos posted above do them justice, the changing look in various lighting and the tactile feeling of the stuff just compliments the diamond plate look of the edges of the mod. I ordered some red/black kevlar/black carbon fiber and some enhanced black special pattern stuff to put on the silver one from Trusty.

Was in the B/M today and they have a G2 for $110. They bought it and some other mods from a vender at the vape meet they had. The vender from California didn't want to pay to take them back with him. I was really tempted.

Ecig still has them. Or did when I ordered mine.
Was on the fence between three mod and this won out.
Now I am stalking the mail bastard.

Honestly excited as hell now.
Just ordered a few more colors of battery wraps and some hb2s to marry.
