On the topic of batteries. Has anyone noticed their battery indicator acting strange? Mine switches to a different percentage when I press the fire button and this second reading fluctuates some times it will read 55% then the next time I look it would be up to 62% (may not be actual numbers, I just picked two for example)

It's just reading the power draw when you hit the fire button. it's normal.

So which one do I believe? Right now just normal it says 83. Pressing the fire button it reads 44. I put fresh charged new chocolates in there on Thursday night

My battery goes to 0 when I hit the fire button in xxx mode. I would say the standing read is accurate.

Update:
I just checked my Slice and it does not go to 0 like the G2. Probably because it's a 26650.

So now that I have been using 2.5.5 for a little while I can say I can't tell a difference. I like it. Maybe I just like the g2.

Yeah, I'm thinking the difference I noticed was most likely due to me being very new to the G2 in general. The real difference is that I now know more of what I'm doing. Loving the G2!

I'm getting the hang of getting the G2 dialed in. The Lemo 2 is 1.06 ohm at 370F, 40 watts and 35 FSK. The Mutation X 234 with dual Clapton is 0.22 ohm at 400F, 50 watts and FSK at 55. I haven't burnt any cotton so I must be doing something right.

Do know if it's going to replace my Fuchai 200TC as my RTA mod because I really like the form factor. And I mainly got the G2 for my RDA. Time will tell.

What the heck my turn to share. At home and ready to go out. If your wondering that's a cell phone case I got for $4 at the discount store. Just had to cut the flap off and get the bottom wet with hot water so it would form to the G2 making it flat. I have a smaller one for the Fuchai that I had to do more to so it would fit the way I wanted.

@DavidOH from the high FSK I assume your running in Kanthal mode? If Kanthal is all you use then that's cool, if you use other wire types than XXX mode (All Metals) really makes it easier. You won't be running high FSK's in XXX mode as well, the range for Kanthal in XXX Mode is between 2% to 8% or so, SS316L range in XXX mode for FSK is 8% to 17%.

I'm in XXX mode. But I had the auto+ TC control disabled. With auto + TC control and auto level enabled I have it down to 4% and lowered the temp to 290F. Guess it could be the difference between auto and manual modes. When I put it that low in manual it was weak. I'll have to play with it some more to see what I like better.

Looking really nice! Where did you get your covers? I ordered one from Jwraps that Im waiting for...really can't wait now.

Super nice!!

Those are carbon fiber samples from Protech Composites. You can get 2 4"x4" with 3m adhesive for 10 bucks. The red/black is kevlar/carbon fiber, and they have some cool patterns available. Carbon fiber look vinyl is way less expensive, but I wanted the real stuff.

I have never tried auto TC or any of the other modes, I know one of them is supposed to be to help with battery life but can't remember which.

Auto is the mode that provides the battery optimizations. It also provides Atty pinging beyond resistance checked, per the manual. You will notice about a 10% drop in the visual display of batt level when switch from auto.

Powering the unit down between vaping has worked wonders. Still using the batts from yesterday and they are just at 70%. Granted I was not chain vaping and I had 2 other mods in rotation!

Loving this G2 more each day!

Are you guys powering down between extended vape sessions like between what would normally be a "cig break"? I ask because I'm noticing batt drop over a few hours of non use? Anyone else exp this?

I am not powering down between uses for 2 reasons.
1. I never have - just because.
2. There isn't enough time between vape sessions to power down.
I chain vape way too much.
I have also noticed very short battery life.
Granted I am still on firmware 2.4.7 so maybe upgrading will help.
I drain 2 sets of batteries daily.
I'm also using a second mod/tank off and on throughout the day.

Yeah, I hear you. This is the first and only mod that I do this with now. My DNAs have excellent battery management as well as my RX200s and IPV5.

The idle battery drain of the G2 is noticeable enough that the added slight inconvenience as worked for me over the last 2 days. I'm not chain vaping on it quite yet. If it moves up a position on my daily use boxes...I will need to find a better alternative, agreed.

Btw, I am using the latest rev 2.5.5 so updating yours likely will not help. I'm also using LG brownies in case anyone was wondering.

I have yet to power down. When I change batteries, I turn them back on. I rotate my mods so I've had these G2's on constantly for 3 days. Of course, if using all the time, all day, I'll change batteries once during the day.

This is interesting indeed. What power do you vape at and and what's the resistance of your build might I ask?

Thanks in advance!

A couple different builds but all above 1 ohm. At 30 - 40w and 350-450. Experimenting to see what I like

my g2 showed up today. i strapped the boreas on and went to the vape shop to deliver some coils. had a look at the instructions while i was chilling there and got myself into xxx mode and tinkered a little with settings. pretty cool mod. i thought it was going to be bigger for some reason, but it fits nice in the pocket and feels very good in the hand. now to comb through this thread for firmware links and advice

Gotcha, yeah those are in will get you extended vape range on any mod.

My builds are all dual .3 ohm max res and I typically vape over 55W, usu 65W. If using TC it's probably around 500deg.

ok got updated and tinkered with everything. tried a lot of different setups and modes and im pretty happy. im sure im not dialed in perfectly on anything yet, but i have been able to tinker with settings to get an improved result from each setup i tried. i have cat tracks in a goon that take a bit to get going and i got them firing really nice on here. then i tried a tiny set of 30/40 fused claptons that heat up way too fast and mellowed them out a little. very cool mod. im glad i jumped on that 4th of july sale. thanks for the heads up on that @mjag and everyone else for all the advice. @raymo2u for the fixed installer  spent a total of an hour updating, reading and tinkering and im good to go already.

Yep, and half the batt life too :)... thanks again for the info. At least the batt life that I'm seeing is consistent. Sadly, will have to leave the G2 at home on travel days to work since it does not have on board charging. All good, I love it when I'm home!

No, don't lock the resistance. Seems like it recommends against that in the manual, don't have it handy it's in the box in the box of boxes lol. I tried auto-tc and it sucked the life out of the batteries in a couple hours. Now in xxx with auto-tc disabled, battery life seems good, really good actually - like as good as I can ever remember a mod doing.

Okay I avoided the temptation of the Fourth of July sale. I figured two g2 units are enough, and I have to get another slice anyway. For the hell of it went to the 4th deal link on page 25 here. Long story short the coupon code still works for the refurbished g2. And I ordered another slice as well.

Only thing that has me thinking is why so many refurb units?

I think I can shed some light on that with my theory. I believe that most people don't read the manual or watch videos about the mod. Since the mod has a slight learning curve and does things differently than most of us vapers are used to I think a lot of people get very frustrated with the mod quickly. I know I would have had it not been for @raymo2u and his thread. I think a lot of people send them back thinking the TC does not work and that's how they have a bunch of refurbs. Look how many people here got frustrated very quickly and swore they were going to throw the mod up against the wall or sell it because they just didn't have the knowledge to dial it in. It's unfortunate that we live in a world of such impatience but hey better for me because now I can get a rocking deal on a refurb. Anyway, that's my theory on the refurbs. Next time I talk to HT I'll be sure to bring it up and ask why.

Im pretty sure thats the biggest contributer for them, you can easily see that just going through the thread on how quickly people go from excited to hate it and either try selling it immediately or listen to what the next 5 or 6 posts that follow say and then come to love it....People need to start learning how to manage their impatience better because its a pretty gloomy outlook for humanity if thats how people really act and react these days...I love a challenge and not having shit handed straight to me....its one of the reasons Ive pushed myself this far into multiple hobbies and job types...

If you hand a kid a video game system in the 80's-90's that kid would push buttons and carefully document how each things works in their heads and then learn from there....try the same thing today and the kid will toss the controller across the room and call the system stupid or some other name and then move on to something else....Im wondering if thats because the parents have always provided new stuff in constant for them or has the human mind really changed that much since then...I acknowledge the art in the smallest item, the kindness in gestures, and appreciate almost everything I touch and see, even if I dont understand it off the bat. Maybe thats why I will take a few days just to learn something and then pass the info along, even if the person its passed to doesnt seem to have the care of day to follow what Ive learned.

Im 27 but my childhood was sub-poverty and abusive....and thats paraphrasing. You dont need to be ancient to gain a appreciation of having things. If you have ever lived without TV, running water, or electricity then you'd also have the same gratitude for small things ;)

Most people have had it tough...what comes of it is what makes the difference.

But no I didnt walk 15 miles to school uphill both ways with newspaper sandals and 30lbs of books...but that wasnt the point I was trying to make...its exactly what DeucesJack was saying. People dont give anything a chance as they would rather blame something and say its broken without even giving it a second chance, all because it didnt work for them at first without hassle.

I also think it has to do with so much information at our fingertips there is so much crap to filter through to get good info it is mind boggling.

I'm active on a lot of forums and groups and I see the instant gratification thing all the time and it sickens me. I can't tell you how many times an extremely basic question is asked on a vaping board when all it would have taken was a quick google search. In fact I would venture to say that most of the times it took longer for that person to ask the question than if they just would have searched for it themselves. Now mind you I am happy to help anyone I can but I would like to think before people ask a question they have at least made a small effort to find the answer on their own. So, is it laziness or just a sense of instant gratification I am entitled to that answer right now attitude? I honestly don't know the answer to that question but either way it's answered its disturbing. Yes, had this information not been available to me here I would have had some level of frustration. The difference is instead of acting like a little spoiled bitch about it, I would have done my research and put in ample effort to get the mod to perform the way I want it to.

We have not touched on "Entitlement" most appropriately it seems entitlement for entitlement's sake. Entitled, cause I paid money for x, entitled because my age is x...

I appreciate the great tips that you have given me with the G2 DeucesJack.

@raymo2u, thanks for the insight, seriously. It's unfortunate that that type of rhythm does not resonate always, but I have to say that it was a positive highlight and thanks for sharing your knowledge here and what has been your life outside of vaping experience! Respect

Huh, guess I missed the "spoiled bitch" posts...
Well, then go thru the thread again. Plenty of people acting like little girls throwing a temper tantrum because they can't dial in a mod. They just aren't willing to take the time to read the manual, watch a video, or read this thread.

I'll pass on that re-reading suggestion. But I can relate to frustration with this mod. I spent many hours over the course of 2 days trying to get my first G2 working correctly. Now that I have another, I can see that there is something wrong with the first one. I watched videos, read the manual, and did more research on this thing than any other mod I've ever had. It was never going to behave correctly, and I guess now it needs to go back to hohmtech. Learning Escribe and the Dna200 was a comparatively enjoyable experience...

So you had a faulty mod? Ok, HT did the right thing and replaced it? I still don't understand your point. You seem to be defending bitchy behavior and I'm not sure why. Surely you can see the difference between complaining about a faulty mod vs complaining about a mod you don't know how operate because you're to lazy to learn how?
