This is the reason I often marvel that any real communication happens. Can be funny at times & frustrating other times.

Consider a few variable words for example.

"Hey man, that was some good shit."

"Oh, your excrement was good as opposed to bad? How do you know which is which?"

"Nah, man I'm talking about the herb I used."

"Ah, I see well in that case I guess shit got deep."

"What do ya mean?"

"You've never got good stuff from me. I give you trash."

"Man, you're a rotten shit!"

"Look over there at that thing."

"This?"

"No, the other."

"Oh, that one?"

"No, the thing that looks like that thing but could look like something else."

"Fine, walk over there and get the thing you mean."

"Wife, do you remember the other day when, ..."

"Wait, the other day as in yesterday or ten years ago?"

"Hm, no not yesterday, maybe a few days ago ..."

"Well when you remember when specifically come tell me and I might help you."

"Ugh!"

"Know what I think?"

"No, what?"

"Well damn now I'll not know either."
