I’ve been called a “5G crank” on Twitter recently.
It was irritating for a bit, but I tried my best to be compassionate with the person who went for the ad hominem attacks. In his reality, he really believes that anyone who says that 5G is a health risk is a crazy person.
The problem is that so many otherwise smart people still believe a lot of completely unscientific myths about electro-pollution/EMFs, or specifically about 5G.
If you’re new to the topic and just joined my community, this podcast is essential. If you’re already convinced about the dangers of EMFs, it might be a great idea to send this episode to skeptical people you know… at least to those that are a bit open-minded and want to hear more about the science.
===> [New Podcast] 4 Top Unscientific Myths About EMFs & 5G
Enjoy the episode,
Nick

PS --
Remember to be GENTLE and COMPASSIONATE towards other people who don’t agree with you. Yes, even to people who have been acting like jerks in the last months.
So many people have been stuck in fear since March. We have to be the adults and hold that space for them, and make our discussions productive, not destructive. There’s already enough bullcrap on the Internet and excessive negativity.
(I’m not immune to falling into egoistic Internet wars, by the way. I wrote the advice above for others, but mainly as a personal reminder.)

Snoring Damages Carotid Arteries, Hikes Stroke Risk

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

People who snore are more likely to have damaged or thickened carotid arteries, a condition that raises stroke risk.

The carotid arteries are located on either side of the neck and carry blood from the heart to the brain. Obstructive sleep apnea is a common cause of high blood pressure (hypertension), which adds to stroke risk as well.

However, in this study, which was presented at a Combined Sections Meeting of the Triological Society, researchers found that snoring can damage the carotid arteries even in the absence of sleep apnea.

Special: Dr. Crandall Reveals Secret of Lower Cholesterol Without Drugs

The researchers speculated that these alterations in the carotid arteries were due to vibrations that damaged and inflamed the arteries.

Studies on snoring and cardiovascular disease have found mixed results. In one such investigation, researchers showed that people who snored were no more likely than non-snorers to develop cardiovascular disease. But an earlier trial showed loud snorers were significantly more likely to develop disease.

If you snore, you should consider going to a sleep disorder clinic to find the source of the problem. Make sure the one you see is a reputable clinic, preferably at a major hospital or medical school.

Snoring is serious and can often be a warning signal of heart disease and sudden death.

Why You Should Soak Your Feet in Apple Cider Vinegar (plus step-by-step instructions)

For centuries, people have turned to organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (ACV) for medicinal purposes. Its high levels of acetic acid are believed to be the reason why.

ACV is made from apples that have been crushed, distilled and then fermented, according to research published in the Journal of Food Science. Adding yeast to the mix is what ferments the sugars and turns them to alcohol. Bacteria are then added to ferment the alcohol further, which turns it into acetic acid — the active compound in vinegar.

Studies suggest that the acetic acid (normally five to six percent) gives vinegar its pungency and many beneficial properties.

Other health benefits of ACV are believed to come from a substance called the “mother.” This natural substance gives ACV it’s murky appearance and is made up of strands of enzymes, proteins, and friendly bacteria.

Since ACV protects against harmful pathogens like bacteria and fungi, soaking your feet in it could provide a natural remedy for common foot problems, including:
  • Foot Odor
  • Athletes Foot
  • Cracked Heels & Calluses
  • Itchy Flakey Skin around the toes
  • Toenail Fungus
ACV can literally turn back the clock on years of aging in your feet!

Discover why I rub ACV on my feet every night and why I put in on my face every morning! =>

Remember that ACV has been shown to:
  • Hydrate
  • Soothe
  • Reduces redness and inflammation
  • Prevent and heals breakouts
  • Minimizes wrinkle
  • Lighten age spots
  • AND contain powerful antioxidants to protect and heal your skin
It is literally the single-best age-reversing ingredient that mother earth has given us!

Discover why you should be RUBBING Apple Cider Vinegar on your Face EVERY Day (& feet!)

Most of us tend to extend grace and patience to those around us far more than we allow ourselves. This is true especially if you’re trying to accomplish a big goal that only you can control.
If you’re trying to take control of your life and your health by eating right, exercising properly, getting enough sleep, and staying hydrated while also keeping a hold on life’s other responsibilities, it can be overwhelming. Sometimes we get so down on ourselves that we give up altogether!
Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind the next time you’re being too hard on yourself:

1. Listen to What You’re Telling Yourself

We are our own harshest critics. The little voice inside your head is not right all of the time, sometimes he or she is downright mean. Listening to that voice as if it’s a separate person will give you the space you need to start talking it down.
When you hear it say mean things, talk back to it. Remind it that you’re not lazy, you’re working very hard thank-you-very-much. If it tells you that you’re not doing enough, respond back with ‘I’m doing the best I can and every little bit counts.'

2. Treat Yourself Like You Would Your Child, Best Friend or Spouse

We need to take gentle care of ourselves, especially when we’re feeling down. Let yourself rest. Take a hot bath. Walk around the neighborhood listening to the birds and enjoying the landscape. Read a good book or watch your favorite movie.
If someone you loved was struggling, you’d encourage them and offer to help in any way you could. Do the same for the person in the mirror. Remind yourself that you’re so strong for taking on this challenge in the first place! You’re rocking it!

3. Reach Out to a Friend

Especially if Tip 2 above is hard for you, make sure you’ve got a support system on speed dial. If you’re not sure how to actually speak nicely to yourself, call someone who does. Listen to them. Tell them that you’re feeling low and be honest, sometimes that honesty alone will help you shake off the dark cloud you’re carrying around.

4. Stop Comparing Yourself to Anyone Else

‘Comparison is the thief of joy’ - Theodore Roosevelt. It is wholly unhelpful to compare your life to anyone else’s. No one has lived your life but you. You haven’t lived anyone else’s life either. Just because you’re in similar places in life, or are similar in age, or health, or anything else, doesn’t mean that you should be comparing yourself to them.
We tend to be unnecessarily hard on ourselves when we take our perception of another person’s life or experience to be true. But that’s just the problem! Our perception is only that - ours! And if we talked to them about it and compared fact to fiction, we would see that they’ve got their own struggles. The highlight reel that we see, especially through social media, is rarely even close to the true experience.

5. Don’t Be Critical of Others

If you tear down people, whether to their face or only in your head, you’re reinforcing the language you’ll use later to shatter your own feelings. Even if you’re not criticizing your friends and family, throwing critical remarks at complete strangers will have the same effect.
Whether you’re having a tough day or a tough week or even a tough month, show yourself some extra kindness and compassion today. Use these tips the next time you’re feeling hard on yourself and give yourself some space to be human. We all struggle but the fact that you’re here, trying to live a happier, healthier life is worth celebrating!

mRNA vaccines — a new era in vaccinology

Hi :)

Yesterday, Friday Dec 11, The Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency authorization for a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and their German partner company BioNTech.

This means that US vaccinations can begin in a matter of days for individuals age 16 or older. This is not an FDA approval, but rather an emergency authorization which is part of the fast-tracked race to fight COVID-19.

In less than one week, another vaccine developed by Moderna, a biotech company, will request emergency use authorization as well. The Moderna vaccine is based on the same messenger RNA technology, and it is expected to be authorized quickly as well.

Is the Vaccine Safe?

This is the question that I have been getting for weeks. And the answer is… not for everyone.

The rollout for any new pharmaceutical is expected to be complex, and not everyone will be a candidate for these new vaccines developed during “Operation Warp Speed”.

The FDA, when granting the emergency authorization noted that the vaccine should not be given to anyone with a history of allergic reactions to any component. This advice comes on the heels of 3 reports of anaphylactic reactions requiring emergency care following receipt of the vaccine in Europe earlier this week.

In clinical trials, common side effects included pain at the injection site, fatigue, fever and chills. Less common and more serious reactions included Bell’s palsy (a temporary paralysis), swelling of the lymph nodes, and transverse myelitis, a neurological disorder that involves inflammation of the spinal cord resulting in weakness of the arms and legs, loss of bladder and bowel control, and pain.

The vaccine has not been tested in women who are pregnant and breastfeeding or in children under the age of 16. So, until further testing is conducted, the vaccine is not currently approved for use in these populations.

One major oversight is that none of the clinical trials included people with known autoimmune conditions. Unfortunately, those with autoimmune conditions were excluded from the clinical trials, so there has not been enough time elapsed to see if the otherwise healthy trial participants end up developing an autoimmune condition over the next 12-24 months as a result of the vaccine.

Over 24 million Americans currently suffer from one or more autoimmune conditions. This number does not include those living with undiagnosed autoimmunity. This is potentially concerning due to the fact that the mechanism of the mRNA vaccine is to instruct the body to manufacture the spike protein of the SARS-COV2 virus (the virus that causes COVID-19).

The idea is that the presence of this protein inside the cell would trigger inflammation and a resulting immune response, attacking the protein and enabling the immune system to create memory cells for that protein. This way, should the body encounter this protein again, it would be able to quickly fight it.

The problem is that the creation of these spike proteins could be a trigger for autoimmune conditions to start or flare. Since autoimmune conditions like Rheumatoid arthritis, Systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus), Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Multiple sclerosis (MS), Diabetes, and Hashimotos can take many months or even years after a triggering event to show symptoms, much longer testing would be needed to ensure this mRNA vaccine is safe for these populations.

In a paper in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, Drew Weissman, MD, PhD, of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and an early pioneer of mRNA technology stated “A possible concern could be that some mRNA-based vaccine platforms induce potent type I interferon responses, which have been associated not only with inflammation but also potentially with autoimmunity,"... "Thus, identification of individuals at an increased risk of autoimmune reactions before mRNA vaccination may allow reasonable precautions to be taken.”

Nearly 7 percent of the US population is diagnosed with autoimmunity and that number is growing rapidly. There are more than 80 known autoimmune diseases. Several factors contribute to the development of an autoimmune condition. These include a genetic propensity, impaired barrier function, and a triggering event. All three factors must be present for the autoimmune condition to develop. It is possible to have a genetic propensity and not develop an autoimmune condition, as long as barrier function integrity is retained and triggering events are avoided.

At this time, I would advise those with autoimmune conditions or with a genetic propensity for autoimmunity to give some extra thought and perhaps wait a while before raising their hand to get the new fast tracked COVID-19 vaccine.

If you are wondering if you might have a genetic predisposition for autoimmunity or other weaknesses in your immune system that could make you more susceptible to infection, I highly recommend the Immune and Autoimmune reports and training modules as part of DNA Made Simple.

In Immune and Autoimmune Genetics, you will learn about your risks in the areas of immune health, respiratory illness, autoimmunity, mold toxicity, inflammation, autophagy, and brain inflammation.

Understanding your potential risks and what you can do to fill the gaps in your immune health can be life changing and help you make the right choices when it comes to protecting your health and the health of your family.

The naming convention of REM should give us a clue that our inner minds aren’t mirroring our resting bodies.

“Rapid eye movement” – that’s what REM stands for.

Have you ever thought about why that is?

Leading research suggests that it’s the rapid movement of our eyes that allow us to change scenes while we’re dreaming.

And if that seems a little bit magical, know that it’s just the tip of the iceberg of what’s possible and accessible to our human consciousness during nighttime brain activity.

If you’ve never heard of dream yoga…

Take a moment and let your imagination fill out the shape of it…

Take a look at what your brain created.

It’s so much more than that.

Without getting too reductive, it’s like lucid dreaming, if you went even deeper and infused your practice with intention.

It’s hard not to imagine downward-facing dog or mountain pose when we’re talking about yoga… but the word “yoga” is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning “unite.”

Dream yoga is about uniting your subconscious being with your conscious being.

It uses the rich and fertile ground of the mind at sleep to connect with beings on the astral plane, heal unresolved traumas, create protective fields around your energy, transcend the self and transform your life.

It’s not that hard…

Unless you’re alone with no guide.

That’s what I want to be…

Your guide.

I’m a seasoned professional at dream yoga, as I’ve been teaching it and practicing it for decades. After the year we’ve all just had, I saw a need for laying out this knowledge and experience in an easy-to-absorb format, helping to connect the hurting and disjointed people of the world to their ethereal spirits.

Enrollment is available for the first time ever…

Click here to learn more about it.

Your unconscious mind is capable of more than you know.

To your health,

5 Tips to Avoid the Operating Table

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

In rare cases, there is little or no way for a person to avoid heart-fixing procedures. However, most diet and lifestyle changes can ensure that you will never need these devices.

Special: Top Hospital Screwups and How to Avoid Them

Here are five tips for avoiding the operating table that are all based on medical research.

  • Bid farewell to eating red meat, permanently. Researchers who tracked the eating habits of 110,000 adults for 20 years found that just one 3-ounce serving of meat (about the size of a deck of cards) was associated with a 13% greater risk of death. People who ate processed meat such as hot dogs or bacon fared even worse.
  • For a healthy snack, try popcorn. Researchers have found that the crunchy hulls of popcorn are rich in polyphenols, antioxidants that prevent cellular damage. They are also 100% whole grain and rich in fiber. Just be sure to enjoy the unbuttered, unsalted variety.
  • Indulge in chocolate. One study shows that people who eat chocolate have a lower body mass index than those who don’t. Researchers noted chocolate is rich in antioxidants, and also may help boost metabolism. For best results choose a type that is at least 80% dark chocolate, and just enjoy a square or two a day.
  • Get enough sleep. Multiple studies show that a lack of sleep is linked with heart disease. Sleep is also imperative if you are trying to lose weight. Researchers at the Mayo Clinic showed that healthy people overate an average of 550 calories when they were deprived of 80 minutes of sleep per day.
  • Pray. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine looked at 100 studies over the past century and found that 79 of them showed that those who had a spiritual practice experienced significantly greater well-being, life satisfaction, and happiness.

A Sunrise Prayer to Start Your Day

All we need is the morning.
As long as there is sunrise,
then there is the possibility
that we can face all of our misfortunes,
celebrate all our blessings,
and live all our endeavors as human beings.
Spirituality is something that has become
necessary in these troubled times.
Yet it is inherently superfluous.
We need it to remind ourselves,
to bolster ourselves,
to integrate ourselves,
to fulfill ourselves.
If we could simply acknowledge
the mystery of night
and the glory of morning,
we would need neither civilization nor spirituality.
At its simplest, life begins with dawn.
That is blessing enough.
All else becomes fullness immeasurable.
At dawn, kneel down and give thanks
for this wonderful event.
We may think mornings are so common
they are unworthy of veneration,
but do you realize most places in the cosmos
do not have mornings?
This daily event is our supreme goodness.
Greet the dawn.
That is your miracle to witness.
That is the ultimate beauty.
That is sacredness.
That is your gift from heaven.
That is your omen of prophesy.
That is knowledge that life is not futile.
That is enlightenment.
That is your meaning in life.
That is your directive.
That is your comfort.
That is the solemnity of duty.
That is inspiration for compassion.
That is the light of the ultimate.

Hi Jimi,

There are millions and millions of universes.

That concept is present in so many different cultures, religions, spiritual practices, and even scientific bodies.

These days, most of us can barely travel a few states over, let alone to the multiple universes available in conjunction with our own.

But there’s a deeper, hidden world that we all have access too..

Even if we don’t know it.

Dream yoga is what takes you there.

You see, our bodies need rest and recovery. We take a thousand hits every day and every night, we piece ourselves back together in our sleep. It’s a pretty sound system.

But our subconsciousness…

Our subconsciousness stays active even while our bodies lay prostate and seemingly lifeless.

And just like the inner biological mechanics of our bodies sew up wounds and regenerate cells…

Our subconsciousness is capable of teasing out the problems of our conscious, daily lives and awakening the spiritual self that’s been dormant (and probably the root cause of a lot of those day-to-day snags) by tapping into the inner power we all share – the power of our Shens, or Spirits.

When we talk about productivity in the Western world, we’re talking about quotas, metrics, corporate goal posts and savings accounts.

We’re not talking about real productivity – the advancement and agility of our ethereal selves.

That’s where the potential for real, life-changing, self-transcending work lies.

Unfortunately, we’ve forgotten what our energetic bodies are capable of. Because of my experience as a Taoist Abbot and senior student of the last remaining Great Masters of the Yellow Dragon Monastery, I’ve decided to make it my mission to remind us.

It’s a delicate art, dream yoga.

But I’ve just unveiled, for the first time ever after teaching it for decades, my online full-stack course on how to master it.

Check it out here

And take the first step in awakening your subconscious to its travel and growth potential – all while your body soundly sleeps.

Hope to see you there,

Hi Jimi,
Sweet potato fries are ubiquitous these days, but did you know that you can make fries with almost any starchy vegetable?
Give it a try with my adaptable recipe below, including some of my favorite options for dipping sauces!

Carrot Fries Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. whole organic carrots, peeled and cut into ¼” thick, 3” long ‘fries’
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons gluten-free flour blend
  • 3 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon freshly-ground sea salt
  • Freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
For Basil Aioli Dipping Sauce:
  • ½ cup vegan mayonnaise
  • Large handful fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
  • Juice of ½ a lime
For Curry Ketchup Dipping Sauce:
  • ½ cup organic, naturally-sweetened ketchup
  • ½ teaspoon curry powder
For Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce:
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup honey

Carrot Fries Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450°F and line two sheet pans with parchment paper. In a large bowl, gently toss together carrots, olive oil, flour, sugar, salt, and pepper until carrots are evenly coated.
Step 2: Distribute carrots across both pans in a single layer, ensuring that they don’t overlap. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, rotating pans front to back and top to bottom halfway through baking time. Flip the carrots if you want even browning, but if you don’t want to fuss with this step, it’s not necessary. Either way, make sure that the carrots are slightly charred and caramelized before removing them from the oven.
Step 3: While the carrots are baking, prepare the dipping sauces. For each sauce, stir together ingredients in a small bowl and adjust seasonings to taste.
Step 4: Serve carrot fries straight out of the oven with dipping sauces. Store any leftover fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days and reheat in the oven. Dipping sauces will keep in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to a month.

HONOUR

I've been creating my first online course for months now, and it's starting to feel almost like a child. It's got a lot of me in it, and it expresses much of what I have valued in my cancer journey. As I approach the finish line with it, I keep coming back to something that has been the backbone of Orenda and which comes across clearly in my course. It's what I place the most value on in anyone's cancer journey: their right to choose what feels like the path for them, whether that includes everything I suggest, none of it, or anywhere in between.

When I first started on the cancer chapter of my life, it was confusing and overwhelming. There was so much information, lots of it conflicting, and so many paths spidering out in front of me that it seemed impossible I would ever find my way through it all let alone to that one path that was meant for me. In searching for that path, I discovered something I had never known before: just as the conventional world can be very negative towards and biased against the alternative, so too can the alternative world be the same towards the conventional world.

I was floored by what I saw online and sometimes experienced personally in comments made to me. Wouldn't the alternative world, that has faced so much negativity and persecution from others, want to try to counteract and not perpetuate those things?

I have never taken kindly to being told what I have to do. Just ask my mom and my sister! It's the reason I hated swimming lessons as a kid. Once I knew enough to be confident I wasn't going to drown, I couldn't understand why I couldn't just splash and play and swim the way I wanted to and not the way the instructor told me I should be. The foundation of these beliefs informed my approach to cancer too. Everyone should be allowed to find their way through this experience in the way that feels right to them, without being judged or criticized or demeaned for making a different decision than the next person would make.

And that has been the value at the foundation of Orenda. All healing paths are welcome here, without judgement, without attempts to change your mind, with encouragement to listen to your gut. And I think it's something that we should bring into our everyday lives a little more. The Anishinaabe have another beautiful ethic in their code that reminds me very much of this, and I encourage you to take it with you today and let it be your intention for the day:

"Honour other people's thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression."

Happy Healing ❤️

Mental Health Monday

After I was diagnosed, I wasn't working, and so all of my time and energy was available to be put into learning and implementing and healing. That didn't last forever though! Once life started expanding again to focus on more than just cancer, things started to become more stressful and to fall off. Life and work are important, but after a cancer diagnosis (and any time really!), your health and wellbeing HAVE to be placed at least just as high as those two. But man oh man, can that be hard! In this MHM video, I share my four top tips for balancing life, work, and wellness and helping to ensure that your health stays at the top of your list.
