Mitral Valve Repair Boosts Well-Being

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Patients with mitral regurgitation often suffer stress-related symptoms, such as depression and anxiety. But these problems can disappear after surgery to correct the condition, a recent study shows.

Mitral regurgitation occurs when the heart’s mitral valve, which is one of four valves that keeps blood flowing in the correct direction, doesn’t close tightly, allowing some backward flow in the heart.

Earlier studies have found that 1 in 4 people with mitral regurgitation suffer from a condition known as PES, or poor psycho-emotional state, which includes elevated anxiety and traumatic stress levels.

Special: The Simple Secret to Really Good Sleep

Such an emotional state can result in problems such as shortness of breath and fatigue, the researchers noted.

The researchers wanted to learn how undergoing mitral valve repair would affect the emotional status of such patients. They administered questionnaires relating to emotional status and lifestyle quality to 131 patients who were slated to undergo such surgery and compared the results with 62 patients who did not undergo surgery and to 36 patients without the condition.

Prior to the surgery, the mitral regurgitation patients ranked their emotional status and quality of life poorer than the other two groups. But six months later, their emotional state had risen to levels comparable to patients without the condition.

However, the patients with mitral regurgitation who did not undergo surgery experienced no improvement.

The researchers also looked at patients with early-stage mitral regurgitation, which does not show symptoms.

Although surgery is generally reserved for patients in later, symptomatic stages of the disease, the researchers found that patients who underwent it earlier experienced an improvement in their emotional well-being, and therefore earlier surgery should not be ruled out.

One of the greatest weight loss hacks of all time is intermittent fasting…
Now— before you say, “Nope, not for me!”...
I’m going to share the easiest intermittent fasting trick you’ve ever heard…
That’ll actually make it very, very pain-free…
You probably won’t even feel hungry.
See— when most people think of fasting…
They think they have to give up food for 24-hours…
Walk around like a moody zombie…
And starve… all. day. long.
But they’re making it way too hard.
You see— all intermittent fasting is… is going a certain period of time without eating.
And you can get some awesome benefits just from keeping out of the fridge for somewhere between 12 and 16 hours…
So here’s a little trick I like to do…
All I do is stop eating at 8:00pm…
And then I don’t eat until 10:00am the next morning…
That’s 14-hours right there…
You spend at least 2 of those hours with your belly nice and full…
You spend another 8 of those hours sleeping…
Which is already 10-hours of fasting right there…
And then to make the remaining 4 hours easy as pie…
All you have to do is drink a glass of water first thing when you wake up…
And then sip on black coffee or tea until 10am rolls around.
The caffeine in your coffee or tea eliminates hunger… but it DOESN’T break your fast.
Easy, right?
If you’re still skeptical, just do me a favor and give it a try.
And if it’s not as easy as I made it out to be, then reply to this email and let me know what the trickiest part was.
Also— if you want to maximize the fat burning effects of your fast…
Click the link below.
Inside I’ll share 3 ways to make belly fat disappear during the next 14-hours.
=> Do THIS during your (very) short intermittent fast do shrink your belly much faster!
And if you think you have what it takes…
Give this fasting trick a shot for just 5 days this week, that’s all…
I’m sure you’ll be shocked by how quickly you notice your waist begins to shrink.
And if you get really excited about the results, just hit “reply” to this email and let me know… maybe I can put together some more fun and easy intermittent fasting hacks for you to kick the fat loss into high gear.

skipping breakfast
Does eating early burn the most tummy fat?
Or does eating later help you get a lean belly FASTER?
It depends on whether you’re a level 1 or level 4 fat burner.
Level 4 fat burners do GREAT when skipping breakfast and eating later.
Level 1 fat burners should NEVER skip breakfast.
So, how do you know?
Use this to pinpoint whether eating earlier OR later burns the most tummy fat for you:
==> Determine best TIME to eat during the day for a flat tummy (based on your fat burning type)

Today's Motivation

Wednesday

December 30, 2020

Being grateful is a way to become happier instantly. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, stuck, and unhappy, bring your attention to the things going in your favor. Show appreciation for things you do have, including the seemingly "smaller" things. It can instantly improve your mood and shift your perspective. The more you practice gratitude, the happier you become.

Here’s how I like to define new normals in my life:

1 - Reflect on what was hard. Why was it hard? What were the main sources of the pain? Is there anything I can do now to prevent this in the future?

2 - Reflect on what was learned. What were my life lessons? How did This experience change me? Which changes do I like and want to keep/amplify? Which changes do I not like and want to change?

3 - Reflect on what brought joy. What were the moments of joy and happiness? Who was there? What was I doing? How else can I bring that feeling/energy into my life?

Once I walk though the good, the bad, and the lessons, I can decide how I want to create my “normal” life moving forward.

For me, 2020 has shown me how strong I am in solitude, with no other large events or gatherings, I really had to learn and understand my own voice in a way that is completely new.

I also learned how being wrapped in the love of community is critical for my health and happiness. And I hope to bring more community into my life (and yours) as 2021 unfolds.

There have been so many life lessons from 2020. If you would like to share yours, I would love to hear them. Post them as a comment on my Facebook or Instagram page. Or reply to this email.

Wishing you a joyful and love filled New Year!

?Top 20 Lessons Of 2020?
What a year!

Lots of ups and lots of downs! It was a tough year for many and a great year for many.

Through it all, I think we can all take some time to reflect on the silver linings that this year brought. ?

So, here are my top 20 takeaways for this year:

1. Self-care is more important now more than ever! Take some time daily to nourish your body, mind and spirit. Prioritize your health and well being. ??

2. Focusing on your breath is so simple but yet so powerful in helping us reduce stress and BE in the present moment. 6 seconds on the inhale and 6 seconds on the exhale. ??‍♀️

3. Prioritize sleep! (7 hours per day at a minimum). Keep sleep times and wakes times as consistent as possible. ?

4. Drink plenty of water or herbal teas. Keep your body well hydrated throughout the day and start each morning with a large glass of water. ?

5. Take your daily supplement stack (it's impossible to get all nutrients through diet, our soils are quite depleted). For me that's vitamin d, c, b complex, magnesium and amino acids. I also take medicinal mushrooms daily - specifically reishi, chaga, turkey tail, cordyceps and lions mane. ?

6. Get out of your comfort zone! This is where growth takes place! This year was a year of growth for me. I shared my message and voice on social media, webinars and within the Living Proof Community more than I ever have. If you've been wanting to start a business or podcast or passion project, do it! If I can do it anyone can! Be authentic, share your truth and as Wayne Dyer says "Don't die with your music still in you". ??‍

7. Reading is so much more productive and fun than watching TV or scrolling your phone. Take at least 20 min to read and learn something new. ?

8. 5-10 minutes of meditation and/or taking a pause to go inwards first thing in the morning can make such a world of difference for your mental health. I think 2020 really taught us all to slow down and take some time for stillness! ??‍♀️

9. Surround yourself with plants ? Plants have such healing properties and really help to lift our moods. ?

10. Read or listen to a spiritual teaching daily. This has been one of the most uplifting things that I have done this year. It brings me peace and solace to know that everything will be ok. ?

11. Take care of the earth - consume less, be more mindful of the long term impact of your purchases. Reuse, compost and reduce! Be mindful of who you purchase from and support small businesses whenever you can. ?

12. Get out in nature daily. Nature is so healing and this year has really made me appreciate nature even more since there was nothing else to do except go for a walk! Appreciate the beauty of the trees, flowers, the leaves changing colour, the snow, the birds, water flowing. ?

13. Put a limit on your social media consumption (and watching the news if you still do) - I have found this to be a huge game-changer. It's so easy to go down the rabbit hole and spiral into negativity and fear. ?

14. Eat more mindfully and intuitively. 2020 taught us to eat more home cooked meals and slow down our pace when eating. Eat more fruits and veggies and all the colours of the rainbow! ?

15. Take a moment for gratitude each and every day. There are so many things to be grateful for! ??

16. Spend more time and be more present with loved ones. Tell them how much you love them and appreciate them. "Physical distancing" has only made me closer to those whom I have a deep connection with. ?

17. Keep life simple! We really don't need much to be happy and healthy! ?

18. Listen to music, dance and move your body! Yoga and riding my bike is what brings me joy! ??‍♀️

19. We are all on our own journey, try to have compassion and tolerance for others without judgement. (This one is tough!)?

20. Love yourself a little more - this planet can only heal when we heal and learn to love ourselves. Remind yourself daily that you are worthy and enough! ❤️

Cancer gets called a lot of things - a disease of a failed immune system, of mitochondrial disfunction, of unfavorable epigenetic modifications, etc…

which are all true, but really, at its core, it’s a disease of WRONG… as in the opposite of doing the right thing.

Cancer cells use way more nutrients than necessary, and go as far as to steal them from healthy cells, who then don’t get enough.

Cancer cells use an inefficient means of energy production, which then pollutes the whole area around it, giving rise to more disease.

Cancer cells trick healthy (good) cells into doing their bidding.

Most healthy (good) cells don’t even see cancer cells for what they are, and therefore do nothing to stop them.

Sound familiar?

The old axiom “As above, so below, As within, so without” seems to be holding pretty true.

End of the day, cancer is a result of a preponderance of a service to self, above service to others mentality.

I’m not saying any one of us individually can stop the powers that should not be from stealing from us through taxation and inflation, or suppressing alternative energy production for that matter…

but we can stand up to insidious behaviors we see happening in our local areas…

and showing those within our sphere of influence, what they’re contributing to by submitting to them…

even if they don’t want to hear it at first.

So in 2021, yes, let’s all get the healthiest we can be, and show the world what it REALLY means to be well…

and let’s also do the right thing, even if that thing is uncomfortable…

as I do believe it’s the only way to activate the immune system that is the innate good of humanity, and stop this cancer of fear and control from overtaking the planet.

***************************************

Fairly unrelated, but, speaking of cancer, wanted to make sure you’re aware the Live Longer Feel Better series is showing free for the VERY LAST TIME soon!!

This is a really, really good series covering a whole lot of advanced topics when it comes to general health and deep dives into specific diseases, including cancer.

Leading up to the event they’re giving away three searchable expert interview transcripts, two of which I notice are on cancer in specific (the other on natural approaches to depression) and thought you might want to take a look.

You can grab the transcripts and sign up for the event, all for free here.

Look for the ‘USP’ Label When Buying Supplements

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

One of the problems with buying vitamins and supplements is that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate them the way they regulate prescription drugs.

As a result, you may not be getting the potency you expect. To find out, researchers analyzed 55 different bottles of vitamin D.

Special: This Gut Health Secret Is Key to Your Body's Immune Challenges

The pills came from the same manufacturer but were from different lots. They found potencies as low as 9% and as high as 140% of the listed dose.

Although supplement manufacturers don’t have to conform to FDA standards, they can voluntarily comply with the standards set by the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), which helps insure quality.

If you are not buying your supplements from a trusted brand, look for the USP stamp on the bottle.
