We have good news and bad news...

The good news is that our petition to FREE NOVAK DJOKOVIC is inching closer and closer to 100,000 signatories from across the globe.

The bad news is that, as of today, Novak Djokovic's visa has been CANCELED yet again by Australia's increasingly tyrannical federal government.

That's why, if you haven't already, we need you to SIGN and SHARE our petition so that we can emphasize our outrage over Australia's deplorable treatment of unvaccinated people, as well as its arbitrary enforcement of its own Covid rules.

Earlier this week, a Federal Circuit Judge in Australia ruled that Djokovic, who is unvaccinated but obtained a government-issued exemption from the country's national mandate, was free to stay in the country and compete in the Australian Open later this month, reinstating his Visa after it had been canceled by the Australian Border Force (ABF).

Prior to the ruling, Djokovic had been detained in a government-run isolation facility, even though he already had natural immunity from the virus and the state of Victoria's Health Department, along with Tennis Australia, had approved his vaccination exemption. Luckily, Judge Anthony Kelly felt differently, and allowed Djokovic to go free.

This came as excellent news and a positive development in Djokovic's case, but, as we warned in our most recent update, this didn't necessarily signify the end of things...

Earlier today, Australia's Immigration Minister, Alex Hawke, took unilateral action to OVERRULE Monday's court decision and canceled Novak Djokovic's visa yet again.

This means that he will be forced to leave the country just days before the start of the 2022 Australian Open.

"Today I exercised my power under section 133C(3) of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds," Hawke said in his announcement, "on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so."

But we all know the truth: What's truly in the public interest would be for government officials to stop abusing their power, following their own rules for vaccination exemptions, and ending this unprecedented discrimination against ALL unvaccinated people, including Novak Djokovic.

But this fight is NOT over: Djokovic is appealing the Immigration Minister's decision in federal court once again, and his lawyers are currently fighting for his right to remain in Australia and compete in the tournament, which begins Monday.

Nevertheless, we must exercise maximum pressure on Prime Minister Morrison, Immigration Minister Hawke, and all concerned federal authorities, and let them know that such blatantly discriminatory violations of human rights will NOT go unchallenged.

Know Which Medical Tests You Need

Not long ago, it was standard practice to have patients take multiple medical tests on a single day. For instance, a cardiac stress test to check for heart disease and an echocardiogram to view the structures of the heart would be scheduled for the same day.

While this used to be a very efficient use of both doctors’ and patients’ time, it is now less likely to occur, as insurers and Medicare administrators are ordering bundled tests on different days.

There are two reasons for the increased inconvenience — and neither of them has to do with medical care.

For one thing, it’s expected patients will protest the inconvenience by canceling the additional tests, which means a savings for payers. Yet even if that doesn’t occur, additional visits can mean more money in the form of additional copayments.

The best thing you can do is educate yourself about which tests are truly necessary to diagnose and help treat your health problem. Reputable sources for this information include the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic websites.

Are You Taking Too Much Vitamin D? Or Too Little Vitamin A and K2?​

For almost two years now, exhortations to supplement with zinc and vitamin D are all over the natural health space. And that's a good thing, except that ...
... some really important details are missing from most of this advice.
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, most people supplementing with zinc should consider their copper status to avoid creating a copper deficiency.
Along similar lines, it's important to to be wise about vitamin D supplementation.
Research has shown that taking high doses of vitamin D only provides benefits in the context of sufficient vitamins A and K2.
The reason for this is that vitamin D stimulates the production of vitamin K2-dependent proteins, and vitamin A regulates the production of these proteins so that vitamin D doesn't cause an overproduction of these proteins.
K2-dependent proteins need K2 to modify them so that they work correctly.
When these proteins don't get modified by K2, they are defective and cause problems like misdirection of calcium into soft tissues instead of hard tissues like bones and teeth.
The result includes serious issues like calcification of arteries, which is one of the main causes of heart .
So too much vitamin D in relation to vitamins A and K2 can cause overproduction of vitamin K2-dependent proteins that outstrips the supply of K2 to modify them to function correctly.
So how much vitamins D, A, and K2 should you take? What is the ideal ratio of A, D, and K2? What blood level of vitamin D should you target?
These are tough questions to answer, even for PhD scientists that study this.
The good news is that there seems to be a pretty wide range of ratios of A, D, K2 that can work for most people.
But there is also anecdotal evidence that there is significant bioindividuality among people as to what dose of supplemental vitamin D can cause harm.
Some people have noticed concerning symptoms of vitamin D toxicity with intakes as low as 1,000 to 2,000 IU per day of vitamin D that were reversed as soon as they boosted their vitamin A intake and/or ceased their vitamin D supplementation.
I suspect that differences among people in their vulnerability to vitamin D toxicity are related to their intake of A and K2, and their genetically-determined ability to convert beta carotene to vitamin A, which varies widely among people with different genetics.
Aside from the fact that nobody is takling about bioindividual differences, the most vocal researchers and educators about vitamin D have based their advice on some questionalbe evidence and logic.
As a result, they have created more fear of vitamin A toxicity than of vitamin D toxicity. But we need to understand that toxicity of either A or D are possible when taken in isolation but is very unlikely when both are taken in reasonable amounts.
I think that the most clear-eyed, balanced perspective on this subject comes from Chris Masterjohn, PhD.
I'll summarize his ideas on vitamins D, A, and K2 in a future newsletter and you can also Google his name plus something like "vitamins D, A, and K2" to find his writings on this.
In the meantime, have a solid intake of A and K2 (from food and/or supplements) if you are supplementing with D.
And don't count all of your beta carotene as vitamin A unless you know that you are effectively converting beta carotene to vitamin A.
Some researchers have suggested an intake ratio of between 4 and 8 of vitamin A to D, but you should not consider any researchers's conclusions as gospel. Nevertheless, these ratios are probably within a safe range for most people.
Just remember that you may not be similar to most people. You may want to figure out where you stand in regard to your D, A, and K2 status.
For now, the key takeaway here is to increase your intake of vitamin A (and/or beta carotene) when you increase your vitamin D intake, most likely increasing your A intake several times more than you increase your intake of D, while also getting K2.
The ideal ratio of K2 to D appears to be far less precise than the ratio of A to D.
Interestingly, one of the food sources of vitamin K2 that is most accessible to most people is butter from grassfed cows, and the level of K2 in the butter is highest from cows grazed on fast-growing grass growing in well-mineralized soil.
Sounds like regenerative animal agriculture.

POSSIBILITIES​

I was asked in an interview recently what the one thing was that I wish I had known when I was diagnosed. It’s a big question, with many potential answers, but the one that I settled on was possibilities: I wish I had known just how much is possible on a healing journey, especially that outside of physical healing. How much I learned about myself, proved to myself, how much confidence I gained, the level of health I regained and then soared above; the list goes on and on.

When I look back at who I was when I was diagnosed, I have come to see that person as an unsure, shrunken, reserved version of me; I often even see myself in my mind’s eye with hunched shoulders and a shut mouth. It would have been astounding, relieving, and exciting for that person to know, in that hardest moment, just how much was going to change, just how much was possible, as a result of that moment.

This is the time of year for new beginnings and new possibilities. Everywhere you look there are mentions of fresh starts, new resolutions, goals big and small. There is pressure from every direction to jump on this bandwagon, to make this change, to start something new, and it can be overwhelming to know where to begin, what to try, and what to pass over, especially in the midst of a cancer diagnosis or other big obstacle.

Cancer taught me, among so much, that there are endless possibilities on a healing journey and that the way to find which direction to move in is to both turn within and also tune into that which is far beyond us. The voice within will guide you to those places where you want to focus and grow and remould, and the force beyond - the universe, spirit, angels, guides, whatever language you like to use - will guide you to those places where you need to focus so that you can achieve those wants.

I wonder sometimes though that if, on Day 1 of A.C. (After Cancer), I had known all that was possible for me, whether things still would have turned out the same way, whether I still would have achieved the same level of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing and development. The journey, after all, is often more important than the destination, and no matter how much we worry about and try to predict how it will go, part of that importance comes down to the fact that all we can ultimately do is take it moment by moment, living in the present as the future slowly reveals itself to us; somehow, not knowing the big picture causes us to examine the moments more carefully and explore the lessons more deeply.

So, instead of looking to others to decide what possibilities you want to focus on this year, take some time to turn within, to tune into what’s beyond, and to forget about predicting the outcome. Don’t be so focused on what you or others think the destination should be that you miss the journey. Besides, what’s possible is so much more beautiful and surprising than we can imagine anyway :)

I was very honoured to be interviewed on Cancer U this past fall, a podcast created and hosted by former actor Andrea Wilson Woods, which she was inspired to start by the loss of her teenage sister to cancer. We talked about SO much, and it was such a wonderful conversation. We touched on topics such as:

I forget where it was, a political forum of some kind, around the time I quit smoking and took up vaping. One of the members, whose wife was from India, which meant they vacationed in India every few years, reported that something like the equivalent of swat teams were raiding lots of these traditional herbal medicine shops in India, confiscating the goods, shutting them down.

"Western pharmacy" is on the move, establishing more if its hegemony. I've been collecting old books on herbal medicine since my teen years.

There will be many situations in life where we feel unprepared to face challenges. Random events can happen and throw us off balance.

We have to accept that uncertainty and unexpected situations are a normal part of life. Be compassionate and patient with yourself as you work towards making sense of and accepting your experiences. Write down your thoughts and feelings in a journal.

It will help you to create a space to see things from a different perspective. Recognize what is within your control and accept what you can’t control. Focusing on even the smallest thing you can control will help you cope during uncertain times.
To me, the anniversary of the covid hoax is March 13, which was the 2020 date when "two weeks to flatten the curve" began in the US. As March 13 approaches again, for the third time, with no end in sight, I feel that I am swimming between a stream and an undertow, persistence and oblivion. On the one hand I persist in trying to wake people up, with evidence, with links, without vitriol, but those around me who sleep prefer to stay asleep. On the other hand there is this new temptation to oblivion, junk food, apathy, sleep.

It's about so much more than a virus bogey. About 20 years ago we were put to sleep with an illusion of never ending terrorism. Even though we still stand in long security lines at the airports, take off our shoes, have our bags scanned, have horrid security grunts yell at us, the illusion has lost its clarity, so I'm sure the illusion of disease doom will be used to prop up government surveillance and control of our lives, for at least as many years as the previous illusion lasted.
