“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

That quote is from famed psychologist C.G. Jung. And truly grasping (and experiencing!) the magnitude of what Jung meant when he said those words changed my life forever.

HINT: it’s the difference between being AT CAUSE vs IN EFFECT. And grasping that concept is nothing short of lifechanging.

More on that later, but for now:

Did you know that you and I -- and more to the point, those who we coach and lead -- go through our day-to-day lives operating, reacting to, and making decisions about our world at the subconscious level...

...95% of the time. WOW!

It’s true.

We just don’t realize we operate that way because, well… these are subconscious actions. Just like the beating of our hearts, our breathing rate, maintaining our body temperature, and the laundry list of other things the subconscious mind controls without our conscious mind being aware of it.

Knowing that, then, what if we learned how to leverage our conscious mind to re-write the “programs” of our subconscious to make day-to-day decisions that would enlift rather than sabotage us?

Think of the impact that would have on your clients.

Imagine how that would elevate your relationships. Not to mention your ability to lead.

Hell, imagine being rid once and for all of those annoying little habits like procrastination or that late night eating binge.

Imagine doing the same for your clients.

Think you’d be in demand? As a coach, a leader… an effective partner?

Hell yeah you would. Because nothing sells -- nothing promotes! -- like results.

Which is what Deb and Brandon Yager teach, and why I’m such a fan of their methods.

I utilize their techniques EVERY SINGLE DAY. Both personally AND for my 1-on-1 coaching clients.

And I want YOU to have access to the same tools.

Because what the world NEEDS now -- more than ever before -- is skilled and effective coaches and leaders.

There’s a reason why seats are going fast for their FREE MASTERCLASS, December 7th and 14th.

It’s the same reason why their live and on-line trainings always sell out.

And it’s the same reason why I *never* miss an opportunity to train with the Yagers.

It’s because I’ve got a world to change. Starting with myself, and extending out to every client I coach, and every person I lead.

Join me Monday the 7th and the following Monday, the 14th for this FREE MASTERCLASS. Let’s sharpen our ninja warrior coaching skills and serve the world in the way we were designed to.

Stronger together,
Keith

Hi Jimi

Any day you hear positive news about your (or a loved ones’) cancer is a great day.

To learn that doctors were able to remove a tumor completely…

Or that your treatment has been a success and your cancer is in remission…

Probably the best news you’ve ever received, right? Sometime soon, the next question will be:

What can I do to stop it from returning?

Cancer Answers did some digging and have the following tips for giving you the best shot of keeping your cancer at bay, for good.

1. Follow Your Health Team’s Recommendations

Your healthcare team guided you this far, it would be very wise to continue to follow their advice. Depending on your individual diagnosis and circumstances, they will likely tell you:
  • When to book relevant follow-up appointments or referrals
  • When to get screened again (and which type of screening)
Always be fully transparent when you have any follow-up, whether with your cancer team or your primary care doctor.

You should always share any and all new concerns, symptoms, and any persistent pain.

Chances are your doctor will be able to relieve your worries, as long as they are kept fully in the loop.

2. Make Meaningful Lifestyle Changes

It’s a marathon, not a race. If you’ve beaten cancer once you have beaten the “odds” against you.

Now that you’ve won that battle, there are many specific things you can do to increase your chances of remaining cancer-free.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) lists these five recommendations for cancer survivors:
  • Quit smoking
  • Cut down on how much alcohol you drink
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Eat well
  • Exercise and stay active
You may notice that most of those tips above were included in our last Cancer Answer, about avoiding cancer.

To these 5 above we’d add: protecting your skin from UV rays (sun rays or tanning beds), continuing to get regular medical care, and emphasizing organic foods and products.

Any and all efforts will help. Even if you have to make changes slowly, research shows that each of the above tips lowers your risk of cancer recurrence.

3. Consider Nature’s Weapons Against Cancer

Thousands of studies have been done on plants that can help support cancer prevention and treatment.

There are at least a hundred natural substances—herbs, spices, vegetables, etc.—that can help you keep cancer away.

If you decide to harness nature by natural supplements, you’ll probably want to focus on those that have shown to:
  • Reduce tumors/growths
  • Stop or slow the spread of cells
  • Prevent or decrease the proliferation of cancer cells
  • Promote cell death
  • Kill cancer cells
  • Decreases inflammation
  • Promotes a balanced inflammatory response
Other benefits you may need or want to consider in your supplementing include bone regeneration and strength, neuropathy relief, antioxidant and detoxification properties, gut balance (for immunity and nutrition), and increasing absorption of nutrients.

Just a few that provide one or more of the above benefits are:
  • Astragalus
  • Black pepper
  • Bloodroot
  • Cannabis (medical grade)
  • CoEnzyme Q10
  • Cordyceps
  • Echinacea
  • EGCG (Epigallocatechin-3-gallate)
  • Omega-3
  • Frankincense
  • Fulvic Acid
  • Ginger
  • Ginseng
  • Iodine
  • Lycopene
  • Magnesium
  • Milk Thistle (Silymarin)
  • Myrrh
  • Resveratrol
  • Turmeric (Curcumin)
4. Get Support

Even though you probably won’t see your cancer team as often...

(And in many ways you probably hope you never see them again!)

There’s no need to feel adrift now you are cancer-free. In fact, experts say it’s important to remain connected and supported.

You could find both in-person and online support groups with other survivors...

Only someone who has had cancer can truly understand what you’ve been through.

Regularly speaking to others who have had similar experiences will help keep you feeling positive and on track with your new ways of living.

Your Main Takeaways for Preventing a Recurrence
  1. Follow your healthcare professionals’ recommendations.
  2. Make long-term changes, including:
    • Avoiding tobacco
    • Decrease alcohol intake
    • Maintain a healthy weight
    • Eat a healthy diet
    • Exercise regularly
    • Protect your skin
    • Get regular medical care (beyond cancer screening)
    • Choose organic whenever possible
  3. Supplement with cancer-fighting substances
  4. Get support
The key to preventing your cancer from returning is to adopt a new lease on life.

This is no time to go back to your old ways! Instead, create a new way of living and incorporate small, meaningful changes in your lifestyle.

All you can do to stay active, reduce stress, sleep better, and get healthier will increase your chances of staying cancer-free.

Approaching it from multiple sides will not only help reduce the risk of recurrence but help you be healthier, more mobile, and live longer.

To your health,

Cancer Answers

Jane has been dealing with some really annoying eye symptoms for the last 2 years with no answers. Her eyes are feeling dry, irritated and even blurry at times. Everyone’s first thought is that she simply has dry eye and that she doesn’t produce enough tears but what is interesting is that when its windy, her eyes tear a lot so that theory breaks down right there.

She tried all sorts of drops from over the counter to prescription steroid eye drops but nothing helped. She saw a few eye doctors but all they did was offer more drops. They tested her vision which was completely normal so she didn’t need glasses but yet, for some reason she was not able to figure out why her eyes were just so sensitive to the environment.

She saw an allergist thinking maybe that was the issue and did anti-histamines but that didn’t really help the dryness or the redness. When I met Jane and talked to her in depth, I saw its been a long while since her last blood work with her regular doctor and based on her symptoms my sense was that it was another organ driving her eye issues and giving her these symptoms.

We ran labs and saw that her issues were actually coming from her thyroid!

The Eye Thyroid Connection
This is connected because the receptors on the thyroid look very similar to the receptors that are found on the connective tissue in the eye socket. When there are issues with the thyroid, specifically autoimmune issues, there is the possibility that the eyes can be affected. There are a lot of different eye issues that are actually related to either Graves Disease or less known but perhaps even more common to Hashimoto’s. In some cases, like with Jane, the eye issues present before the autoimmune issue is detected or diagnosed making the connection difficult to make.

Symptoms of Thyroid Eye Disease
The symptoms of thyroid eye issues can start out like many eye issues. For example, you might have dryness, irritation, redness, puffiness or swollen lids. The usual course of action for these symptoms might be to use drops (including over the counter and steroid gel drops), antihistamines or both but if these don’t work, these may be symptoms of thyroid eye disease. Additional characteristics of thyroid eye disease may include the swelling or puffiness of the upper eyelids especially in the morning with the swelling decreasing through the day. Other symptoms may include chronic redness or a shift in the width of the eye socket. The latter may result in the eyes appearing bigger or wider. There may even be some inflammation causing the eyes to protrude or bulge (proptosis).

How To Know If It Is Thyroid Eye Disease
The most important part of tying an eye issue to the thyroid is to get blood tests. But, it’s not enough to just test the TSH or T4 as many doctors will do. We need to get the full thyroid panel and all 3 thyroid antibodies (TPO, Anti Thyroglobulin and TSI antibodies)

Check out The Link Between Your Thyroid And Your Eyes Episode for a lot more details of why this happens, exact labs and all the things you can do to support it naturally. As always you can read the show notes on the website or listen on itunes or any of your other podcast apps.

Also if you missed the last few episodes, I have been talking about How to get out of your own way of healing on episode 77, anti aging for autoimmunity and answering your latest thyroid questions so be sure to check them out!

Hope all is well with you Jim and if there is anything that you need, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Middle-Aged Heart Attack Victims on the Rise

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

A new report shows that for the first time in decades, the number of Americans dying from heart disease is climbing.

In fact, the decline had been so steady over the past 60 years that heart disease was on track to fall out of place as the No. 1 cause of death for Americans.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the death rate from heart disease and strokes declined by 70% from 1960 to 2010, largely due to efforts to reduce smoking, coupled with better treatment of high blood pressure, new heart disease treatments and procedures, and low-dose aspirin therapy.

Special: Doctor's 'Twin Swap' Health Hack Ends Common Cholesterol Woes

In more recent statistics, the death rate has not actually increased for people in the 20- to 44-year-old age group, or for those age 65 and up.

The increased risk is occurring only in people who are middle-aged. This means that more people are dying from heart disease in the prime of their lives.

Notably, the increased rate did not affect men and women equally. Although middle-aged men are at higher risk for heart disease, their increase was 3%, while the rate rose 7% for women. This was surprising, because women in this age group tend to be better protected against heart disease than men.

If you fall into this middle-age category, your relative youth may not be protecting you against heart disease. That means you need to redouble your efforts to beat this deadly threat.

That means eating a diet rich in vegetables and fruits, getting enough exercise and sleep, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol, quitting smoking, and learning coping mechanisms to manage stress.

What If It’s Not Depression with Dr. Achina Stein

Depression is a complex problem that needs a comprehensive solution. For some, medications can certainly be helpful, but there’s also so much we can do to limit our use of them.

Sometimes the body and brain are on fire, from an onslaught of inflammation caused by diet, lifestyle, allergies, and more. By addressing these issues we can help the body recover from the inside out, and that comes along with better mental health.

Today on The Broken Brain Podcast, Dhru talks to Dr. Achina Stein, who has been through her own journey in overcoming depression with both herself and her son. Dr. Stein is an osteopathic physician who has been in practice as a board-certified psychiatrist for more than 25 years. Her story is super-fascinating. Propelled by her son’s mental health crisis in 2010, she began to pursue Functional Medicine, which resolved his health problems, as well as her own.

Dr. Stein is certified by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine and is a certified practitioner of the Institute for Functional Medicine. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and was awarded the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award by NAMI-RI in 2008. Dr. Stein is presently in private practice in Rhode Island, and she recently launched her online health coaching program, HealthySelf Bootcamp, to assist people from a distance to reach their health goals. She is the author of the book, What If It’s Not Depression?

Dhru and Dr. Stein discuss her own experience in realizing her son had acute depression, which was so severe it made him suicidal, as well as her own struggles with depression, Epstein-Barr, and Hashimoto’s.

Dr. Stein discovered the importance of looking at physiology in conjunction with psychology to help the brain heal. In her son’s case, celiac disease was an underlying culprit that was causing severe inflammation. They discuss why cleaning up the gut is so imperative to treating mental health disorders using a Functional Medicine perspective, and how gluten, dairy, and soy, all tied into her son’s story.

Dr. Stein also shares her experience in caring for her mother, who had a traumatic brain injury when Dr. Stein was a child and was misdiagnosed as schizophrenic. She saw amazing improvements from a real-food diet rich in anti-inflammatory herbs and spices.

They also discuss why medication can be a useful tool, one that Dr. Stein used herself for many years, but why it’s not the only option for treating depression.

Many of us know someone struggling with depression, whether you realize it or not. I hope you’ll tune in to learn more.

Wishing you health and happiness,
Mark Hyman, MD

Health Alerts
Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., writes:
Researchers studied the association between thyroid dysfunction in newborn babies and their exposure to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) for a study published in the journal PLOS One.
Blood umbilical cord and maternal blood levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) were compared with thyroid hormone in the umbilical cord blood and a blood sample collected two days after birth.
Special: Millions Suffer From Chronic Conditions — Don't Know It's Their Thyroid
POPs from in-utero exposure were found to disrupt thyroid function in newborns. The POPs were found to be at levels which generally occur in the population.
Adequate thyroid hormone level in-utero is crucial for normal neurological development. Inadequate thyroid during pregnancy can result in problems such as lower IQ, heart problems, and short stature.
All of these POPs are more toxic when iodine is deficient.
Unfortunately, iodine deficiency is occurring in the vast majority of Americans. One way to diminish the toxicity of POPs and other endocrine disrupting chemicals is to ensure adequate iodine intake.
Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., editor of the Natural Way to Health newsletter, is a board-certified family physician and one of the nation’s foremost practitioners of holistic medicine. In addition to his practice, Dr. Brownstein has lectured internationally to physicians and is the author of six very popular books.

Hi Jim,
Health professionals around the world have identified more than 7,000 peptides to date.
But why is this information so relevant?
Because peptides (amino acids that make up needed proteins), are naturally produced by our bodies but are also being implemented in various disease treatments.
However, it’s hard to understand how each of the 7,000 peptides interacts with your body—and most importantly, how to know which peptides you actually need.
Luckily my good friend and colleague Dr. Kent Holtorf, breaks it down for you during his world-renowned Peptide Summit, launching on December 7, 2020.
Why do I feel this is groundbreaking information you need? Well, because this summit will attract a lot of attention (media, doctors, and specialists alike)... but you can get access by being a part of my community— and if you act quickly.
Plus, worldwide experts will even discuss how peptide therapy benefits a wide range of illnesses, including Lyme Disease, osteoporosis, obesity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and many other chronic inflammatory conditions.
Unlock this summit now… and learn more about how peptides can positively affect your health.
Please, don’t miss this cutting-edge health update. Do this for your future health and wellbeing.
Be Blessed,
Dr. David Jockers

*-- Foot Care Tips--*

At an absolute, bare minimum, feet should be clean. I mean, you walk on them, don't you? What if you were stuffed into a leather shoe all day, strolling through parking lots, jogging in parks, shopping, doing laundry, tapping impatiently in line at the bank. Feet suffer from lack of air, from shoes that don't breathe, from sweaty conditions on hot summer asphalt. Daily scrubbing with soap and a nail brush is a good start, but it's only a start.

When it comes to toenails, there is no in-between. Clean, healthy, well-groomed toenails are just simply more appealing. Grubby, long, unhealthy toenails are nasty. Toenails should be well-brushed with soapy water, clipped short and neat with clippers, and treated with anti-fungal medicine if nails are discolored, thick or peeling.

Even girls can get athlete's foot (always wear flip-flops at the gym, at the pool, at the park, in any shower that is not your very own), and there topical medicines that can cure it. (If you don't know what athlete's foot is, it's a fungus that causes feet to burn, itch and peel).

Assuming your feet are clean and healthy, the step to beauty is a short one. Keep your feet smooth by using a pumice stone a couple of times a week, rub them with lotion like Upper Canada Peppermint Foot Cream to keep them soft, and use a clear polish if you don't like brightly colored toes.

No one talks about it (except in women's studies class), but women grow hair on their toes. If your toes are fuzzy, you can wax them to add to overall foot smoothness. Get a pedicure for that professional polish, but don't let them cut your cuticles, whose sole purpose in life is to keep your feet safe from infections.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Damages the Liver

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a common sweetener in sodas and fruit-flavored drinks. As use of high-fructose corn syrup has increased, so have levels of obesity and related health problems in the country.

HFCS is corn syrup that has undergone an enzymatic process to convert some of its glucose into fructose, a type of sugar that is actually sweeter.

It’s found in beverages, processed foods, cereals, and baked goods. In other words, it’s in a vast array of processed foods — exactly the type of foods that make up the diet of too many Americans.

Special: Are 'Bugs' in Your Gut Making You Fat? Change It Today.

Chemically, high-fructose corn syrup is similar to regular sugar, but there is a difference in the way that the body metabolizes it. As part of the chemical process used to make high fructose corn syrup, the glucose and fructose — which are naturally bound together — become separated.

This allows the fructose to go directly into the liver, which turns on a process of fat production called lipogenesis.

Because of this difference, some people think that HFCS is the real driver of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and other chronic diseases we face today.

This is a key reason why HFCS is being blamed for the growing epidemic of fatty liver disease, which has become one of the most common diseases in the U.S. today and a leading cause of liver transplantation.

Human affection takes many forms, with different cultures adopting distinct ways to greet, comfort, and show love between people. In Western culture, a hug signifies physical affection while being largely devoid of sexual or even romantic intentions. As a result, this intimate method of communication has become commonplace amongst family members, friends, and individuals of the same and different gender identity.
Although the origins of the hug as we know it today are complex and somewhat unclear, what is abundantly clear is that social hugging has increased dramatically in the last 50 years. More relaxed societal norms led to more relaxed methods of greeting and showing affection, ultimately culminating in the chiefly casual act hugs have become today.

Hugs and Mental Health—What’s the Link?

Some people love to give and receive hugs; others have a more difficult time with the inherent intimacy. But regardless of which camp you naturally fall into, research suggests that hugs can sustain beneficial effects on mental health by boosting mood, increasing trust, and providing support and comfort.

Hugs for Boosting Mood Following Conflict

Research is mounting on the mood-boosting potential of hugs. A 2018 study published in PLOS One sought to discover the effects of hugs on decreasing negative affect and improving positive affect following a period of conflict. Gathering data from 404 adult participants, results showed that receiving a hug was associated with “improved concurrent negative and positive affect and improved next day negative affect compared to days when conflict occurred but no hug was received.”
Furthermore, these results were controlled for numerous variables related to personal intersectionality, such as age, sex, race, and more.
Interestingly, the study also suggests that hugs are a form of interpersonal affection that verbal support can’t compete with. Lead researcher Michael L. M. Murphy references instances where verbal support does more harm than good for positive and negative affect, potentially due to unsolicited advice from family or friends that makes the individual in question feel incompetent or inferior. On the other hand, hugs are associated with having greater “responsiveness” than other forms of support—that is, “conveying understanding, validation, and care.”

The Potential Role of Oxytocin

More support for the stress-reducing and mood-boosting effects of hugs comes from the theory that hugging can stimulate the release of the neurotransmitter oxytocin. Oxytocin has long been labeled the “hug hormone” or the “cuddle hormone”; and while its mechanism of action is more complex than these terms can describe in name alone, they point to some key associations between physical intimacy and oxytocin release.
Oxytocin is highly associated with “pair bonding” between partners, and bonding between breastfeeding mother and child. Moreover, higher levels of oxytocin in the body are generally associated with greater relaxation, greater ability to trust others, and overall psychological stability.

Human Touch and Existential Fear

Aside from instances of interpersonal conflict, studies have also found hugs to help mitigate existential fear of mortality in individuals with low self-esteem. A series of studies published in Psychological Science found that even hugging an inanimate object, such as a stuffed animal, could partially reduce the fear response. In fact, participants who received a light and brief touch from the study’s experimenter reported less death anxiety on an associated questionnaire than those who didn’t.
Researchers hypothesize that individuals with low self-esteem may even seek out platonic touch when dealing with issues related to their own mortality.

Humans Want to Be Hugged

Well, not all of us—but as a population, it’s clear that we are desperate for physical kinship. The modern world is more connected than ever before, but simultaneously less physically intimate. And while language suits its purpose, it is not the only way to convey love and care. In fact, hugging likely offers something more “pure” than words, stimulating a windfall of beneficial physiological processes that boost mental and physical health in kind.
So, next time you’re feeling down and wondering how to improve the situation, perhaps the first port of call is to embrace your partner, child, or that huge teddy bear beside your bed.

Many women get urinary tract and bladder infections from sex.

If you're a guy, save this protocol on your hard drive. If your woman gets a UTI, you can be her hero.

Urinary tract infections can be called honeymoon cystitis, interstitial cystitis, or UTIs.

They have many different names, but sometimes bacteria can get up into the urethral canal when you make love.

Your pee exits your urethra, the little tube that runs from your bladder out of your body. When you make love, you feel the friction there. Sometimes, bacteria can get in there and get established. You then feel a burning sensation, may have blood in your urine, and feel significant pain and even fever.

Here's A Link To My Video ⇐ Natural UTI Cure

And here is an article I wrote about the protocol:

Cure UTIs, Bladder Infections and Honeymoon Cystitis Without Antibiotics

As soon as you feel pain, see blood in your urine, or can’t stop feeling like you must pee, you’ve got to try my suggestion in the video and the article.

Antibiotics are not a good treatment for everyday UTIs. Ingesting them kills the good bacteria in your gut, which attack the harmful bacteria in your urethra.

Get on the D-Mannose if you’re having recurrent issues. And always hydrate with electrolytes and pee after sex.

Alkalizing your body with coffee and baking soda works even better and is healthier.

If you try this and it works, please comment below the video. If you have any tweaks to this protocol that have worked, please share them as well.

#1 lifestyle changes to avoid and fight cancer
mail

Hi Jimi

If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with cancer, you are probably feeling a wide range of emotions.

You’re probably feeling worried and scared. You may feel confused and uncertain.

Now what?

Then again, you might have moved through the initial shock and now feel determined, even hopeful, and are looking for ways you can beat it.

We highly recommend every step you take is in partnership with your oncology team, but there are areas of your life where you have the control…

This is where every little lifestyle improvement counts.

But there’s one that stands out above the rest: Decreasing inflammation.

Of all the steps you can take to better your odds of beating cancer, balancing your inflammatory response is number one.

Researchers first discovered the link between inflammation and cancer in 1863. Since then, it’s become near indisputable that inflammation is at the root of cancer.

This connection can be direct—inflammation from infection or toxins, etc., that creates an environment for cancer.

Or indirect—chronic inflammation that creates and contributes to conditions like diabetes, obesity, and autoimmune diseases.

Each health condition dramatically increases the risks of cancer.

Research also shows that chronic inflammation damages cell DNA, leading to uncontrolled cell growth, another cancer indicator.

There are some relatively easy, natural ways you can help balance your inflammatory response. Here are seven you can try immediately.

7 Ways to Decrease Inflammation
  1. Limit your alcohol intake: The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) states, “The more you drink, the higher your cancer risk.” The link is inflammation.

Alcohol not only causes inflammation in your gut, but it also makes it more difficult for your body to regulate inflammation

Limiting your drinking or even stopping altogether may help lower any inflammation and gut imbalances contributing to your cancer.
  2. Limit sugar and carbs: Research shows that too much added sugar and refined carbohydrates found in sodas, candy, donuts, white rice, and pizza cause inflammation.

These can also create weight gain, which leads to more inflammation.
  3. Watch Your Fats: Eating a high-fat diet (HFD) causes inflammation. Most research in this area focuses on fats and not on the whole diet.

Since a ketogenic diet includes high levels of fat but has been seen to lower inflammation in many people, it can seem science is contradicting itself.

It’s far more likely that the typical HFD also includes many refined carbs and sugars that together create inflammation.

People on a keto diet exclude those and usually focus on healthier fats and more fiber.

While research continues, be conscious of your unhealthy fats intake and carbs, which might work in your favor and lower inflammation.
  4. Detoxify Your Life: You’re faced with hundreds of environmental toxins every day. Gases from our furniture, countertops… Packaging, cars, industry.

Chemicals in cleaners, cosmetics, shampoos. Our drinking water. Chemicals in foods. The list goes on!

Toxins in our body create inflammation. To combat this reality and help your body to decrease its toxic load, consider:
    • A good HEPA air filter
    • A water filtration system
    • Quitting smoking
    • Using chemical-free household cleaners
    • Using natural cosmetic products
  5. Lower Your Stress: Chronic stress causes inflammation.

Any change you can make to lower your stress levels will be beneficial and add to your efforts in decreasing inflammation.

There may be more significant life changes needed, like a new job or home. Smaller changes could include getting someone to clean your home and babysit for a few hours while you relax.

Meditation works for many. Deep breathing is also helpful and can be done a minute at a time while still providing stress-lowering benefits.
  6. Exercise: A 2017 study out of California found that just 20 minutes of moderate exercise lowers inflammation. It also boosts your immunity, which can also be beneficial when battling cancer.

Of course, any weight loss will decrease inflammation even more, so exercise has multiple benefits.
  7. Go organic: A recently published, 5-year study of almost 70,000 people found that eating mostly organic foods lowers your cancer risk by 25%.

They believe this is partly because organic foods are not grown with (and therefore contain significantly less) inflammation-causing toxins, like the herbicide glyphosate, pesticides, and other agricultural toxins.
The C-word can be devastating, but you live in a time where you have a very high chance of survival. All things you can do to decrease inflammation in your body will help.

Next time we’ll look at even more lifestyle changes you can make to improve your odds and strengthen your body and spirit for the road ahead.

To your health,

Hey Jimi,

Plant-based diets are gaining in popularity.

A 2018 study reported in USA Today told us that 83% of Americans were adding more plant-based foods to their diet.

And for good reason…

A nutritional update for physicians reported in The Permanente Journal noted that plant-based diets:

Are actually cost-effective “medical interventions”

Can reduce obesity, lower blood pressure, improve blood sugar control, and drop LDL cholesterol levels

May reduce the number of medications needed to treat chronic disease

And even lower death rates from heart disease

That’s why I want to tell you about an upcoming complimentary 80-minute Food for Health Masterclass. It’s from one of my own health heroes and a champion of plant-based eating, John Robbins.

In case you don’t know, John Robbins was groomed to be heir of the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire. But John walked away from his future “paved with gold and ice cream” and devoted his life to educating people about healthy eating.

>> Reserve your spot for the Food for Health Masterclass [FREE]

In this brilliant Masterclass, you’ll discover 10 powerful plant-powered food breakthroughs that are easy to implement — and can help you enjoy your healthiest life (while relieving your stress and boosting happiness).

They’ll tell you about the dangerous and deadly food lies you’ve been “fed” by the food industry.

And you’ll see how you can help save the planet with what you eat — and don’t eat. Plus, your food choices today will leave a better world for your grandkids.

If you value your health, like I know you do, then this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Poor Sleep Raises Heart Disease Risk

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

Disrupted sleep patterns, such as those that occur during shift work, increase the risk of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes, three conditions that are major contributors to heart disease, a research study shows.

The study, published in the journal Science Translational Medicine, was designed to simulate not only patterns of sleep deprivation, but also the irregular patterns of sleep that occur for people who do shift work — an employment practice designed to make use of or provide service during all 24 hours in the day.

Special: Study: Sleep Loss Actually Steals Years Off of Your Life

Researchers put 21 healthy, well-rested men and women — half of whom were in their 20s, and half of whom were in their 60s — in a sleep lab where conditions caused them to become sleep-deprived for three weeks. After three weeks, the subjects were allowed to catch up on their sleep over nine nights.

During that three-week period, the researchers found the subjects burned fewer calories while at rest than they did when they had adequate sleep. Their pancreases also produced less insulin than normal, resulting in higher blood sugar levels. Happily, the condition reversed when the subjects were able to catch up on their sleep.

Previous studies have linked disturbed and too little sleep to heart disease, but this study provides strong evidence on how these metabolic changes occur.

Everyone should make sleep a priority, even if you are working odd hours. If you must work the third shift, make sure that you get enough sleep during the day, and that your family and your friends respect this need.
