Hi ,

Don’s was diagnosed with heart disease in 1994...

Four years later, he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Over the years, Don accrued 9 stents, his A1c ranged between 8.0% and 11.0%.

His doctor prescribed expensive drugs which Don would have to take for the rest of his life...

In December 2016 Don’s heart was getting poor blood supply...

The doc gave him three options:

  • Pay $150,000-$300,000 for a sixtuple coronary artery bypass surgery and
  • Continue to pay almost $1,000 a month for insulin and
  • Try to lose weight using “diet and exercise”
Three months later Don had completely eliminated his use of both insulin and Metformin. His weight dropped from 215 pounds to 165 pounds, and it has stayed that way for multiple years.

These are remarkable results and it all started with this 90-minute Masterclass that you can watch for free.

This live masterclass is hosted by our good friends and New York Times bestselling authors Cyrus Khambatta, PhD and Robby Barbaro, MPH.

Here's what you can expect from this masterclass:

  • Discover the 5 most important foods to include in your diet every day (because of their powerful medicinal properties)
  • Uncover how to simplify what you eat so that you can lower your cholesterol easily (and predictably)
  • Discover how to easily understand the blood work you get from your doctor's office – so that you'll know what the numbers mean without complicated jargon.
  • Unlock 5 powerful hacks to improve your heart health in the next month (that you can start today without feeling overwhelmed)
Spaces are limited, so join this Masterclass before the seats fill up!

>> Click here to secure your spot (limited seats available)

Heart disease is our #1 killer. In many cases the first sign that something is wrong is a heart attack or stroke. And because we are all for prevention, we hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity.

Hi,
Want to hear something shocking that’s going to change the way you think about how your body changes as you age?
If you’re dealing with confusing and stubborn weight gain, insomnia, fatigue, or brain fog, then I want to share some game-changing information from my friend and colleague, Dr. Mariza Snyder.
She’s on a mission to help women feel amazing through midlife and beyond…
I agree with her as she says you deserve an explanation, Jim.
You deserve more than to simply be told, ‘just brace yourself’ or ‘deal with it’ or ‘it’s all downhill once you turn 35.’
The reality is that you ARE going to deal with unexpected and unwanted changes…
  • Maybe you’re busier than ever, but you can’t seem to get as much done. Your brain fog is BAD and you’re just… drained.

  • Chances are you’re exhausted after 3 pm, but then you can’t sleep at night because your mind won’t stop racing or your nervous system just can’t let go.

  • And how about that bloating you get after meals?
Feeling miserable isn’t a requirement for being in your 30s, 40s, and 50s.
Hormone changes are certainly not something we women should have to just ‘put up with’…
There are multi-layered reasons why we start dealing with all of these symptoms as we age:
  • exhaustion
  • insomnia
  • brain fog
  • bloating
  • inflammation
  • night sweats
  • hot flashes
  • & extra belly fat that shows up out of nowhere
They are hormone-related!
And once you understand what’s really going on with your body, you CAN change the way you look and feel – naturally and with ease and grace.
And that’s exactly why Dr. Mariza created the Perimenopause and Menopause Relief Summit… and why I decided to be a part of it as a speaker.
To finally give you the explanation you deserve so you can know what’s really going on with your body…
To understand that you need different protocols than men, who simply do not have to deal with the hormone issues women do.
To figure out why you are so desperately tired, can’t concentrate, and can’t get your body to work...
Dr. Mariza’s Perimenopause & Menopause Relief Summit is going to help you END your struggle with imbalanced hormones.
It really is a MUST-ATTEND event for all women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, and it’s absolutely free!
Just register here and save your seat.
If you want to know:
  • Which foods to eat (and which to avoid at all costs!)
  • What supplements can help you get more energy and focus
  • How to address the REAL ROOT of what’s really going on
  • And the missing piece that keeps so many women stuck and miserable...
Then do not miss the Perimenopause and Menopause Relief Summit!
When you register for the Perimenopause & Menopause Relief Summit, you’ll get insights from 35 top doctors and hormone experts.
My interview speaks about optimizing your brain chemistry, adrenal and thyroid glands at the “front of the line” so you have less sex hormone (back of the line) balancing to do.
As soon as you register, you’ll get Dr. Mariza’s Top 14 hormone-balancing Recipes Guide focused on using food to help you reclaim energy, sleep, focus, and metabolism. :)
What you do now in these perimenopausal and menopausal years is setting the stage for the quality of your life for many years to come. You are worth getting the answers you deserve!
Cheers to aging with ease and grace!

Drinking Alcohol Linked to Cancer

By Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs

In March of 2020, Nielsen reported a 54% increase in alcohol sales compared to the same time period in 2019. It seems that people’s initial reaction to the pandemic shutdown was to down more drinks.

Are you still drinking more than usual? Many people are, and that has us worried. Evidence is mounting that when it comes to alcohol (even with its heart- and artery-friendly benefits), less is more.

A new study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology shows that in the U.S., alcohol consumption accounts for around 75,200 cancer cases and 18,950 cancer-related deaths every year.

Special: Drink This One Mineral to Restore Your Hearing

Another study in the Journal on Studies of Alcohol and Drugs says that more than half of alcohol-caused cancer deaths are experienced by those drinking recommended safe amounts — one drink a day for women and two for men.

In addition, alcohol is a factor in about 60% of fatal burn injuries, drownings, and homicides; 50% of severe trauma injuries and sexual assaults; and 40% of fatal motor vehicle crashes, falls, and suicides.

It's also related to destabilizing atrial fibrillation and depression, and can make it difficult to manage diabetes, hypertension, and sleep disorders.

If you're handling pandemic or economic stresses by imbibing alcohol, it's time to wean yourself off the stuff. Limit yourself to one glass of wine every day or every other day if you have a high risk for cancer in your family.

And if you've developed dependence, think about giving up drinking altogether. Get help through Alcoholics Anonymous, therapy, and your doctor.

A great substitute for an alcoholic beverage is more physical activity.

Episode 8 may go down as my favorite from this whole docuseries.

That’s like picking a favorite child though, so it’s not entirely fair…

At the very least, it’s WAY up on the list for me!

I’ll think you’ll quickly agree after just a few minutes of hearing from our Ph.D. research scientist Judy M., as she opens her time machine and reveals decades of rich research on disease and viruses.

You can WATCH IT ALL HERE for the rest of today before it expires and is replaced by the final episode tonight.

*-- 4 Signs of an Unhealthy Gut --*

1. Gastrointestinal issues: If you're having abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, gas, etc. you might have a gut issue. There could be an increase in the level of harmful bacteria and fungi in the gut and a decrease in the beneficial ones and this imbalance makes it difficult to break down food.

How to fix it: Incorporate more probiotics into your diet. Plain yogurt, sauerkraut, kombucha and others will restore the balance of friendly bacteria in the gut.

2. Poor sleep: Tossing and turning all night long? Or maybe you only manage to clock in a couple of hours of shut-eye every night despite going to bed at a reasonable hour? Insomnia or disturbed sleep could be a sign that your gut health is out of whack. Here's why: The majority of serotonin is produced in the gut, and when less serotonin is produced, it can lead to difficulty sleeping.

How to fix it: According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults should be getting between seven and nine hours of sleep each night. To give yourself the best chance of a good night's slumber, be consistent about sticking to a bedtime and give yourself time to unwind before going to sleep.

3. Skin problems: Having an imbalance in our gut microbiome can lead to skin issues including acne and psoriasis as well as atopic dermatitis. That's because your gut and skin are connected, and an unbalanced gastrointestinal tract leads to inflammation-a leading cause of complexion concerns.

How to fix it: Many beauty products contain chemical ingredients that undermine the skin microbiome and immune function. To keep your complexion glowing, try choosing organic products when possible and letting your skin breathe regularly.

4. Increased anxiety and brain fog: Microbial imbalance alters certain chemicals in the brain that directly impact mood. These changes can lead to increased anxiety and depression. They may also bring about a change in eating habits, thereby causing a further imbalance of the gut.

How to fix it: People who are chronically stressed tend to have more microbiome imbalance, even when they eat a good diet. Take measures to reduce stress levels (like taking a stroll) and try not to worry too much.

Today we get started with episode 3 of our docuseries. You can click here to get watching RIGHT now:

>>>Making Compost & Compost Teas

**Keep in mind today’s episode is only available for free for the next 24 hours!**

But if you like a good Dad joke, you’re going to love the one I overheard at my local coffee shop earlier this week...

Q: “What did the compost pile say to the orange who’d lost her peel?”
A: A Rind is a terrible thing to waste!

You’ll see why this joke was very timely since today we’re going to talk all about waste…

...Specifically your Compost!

It’s the hot topic of episode 3 in our Joyful Garden docuseries and also one of the most misunderstood. Compost is a good friend to gardners, your neighbors, your plants, and even the planet. Because it brings in lots of beneficial microorganisms, fixed nitrogen, and fresh nutrients to your soil.

Best of all, a good compost pile takes just MINUTES a day to save you hundreds of $$$ on fertilizer! It’s a no brainer once you put a good compost pile together.

Not to mention all the household waste you’re diverting from landfills. You just have to combine 3 things in your compost pile to get it to work:

- Your “green” organic waste
- Your “brown” organic waste
- Lots and lots of air

All aerobic compost bins use these three elements. Now you may not be familiar with the difference between “greens” and “browns” in your garden. For example, most people in the city have an especially hard time getting “browns” for their garden.

(I MAY have an easy solution for you when you watch the video *wink* *wink*.)

But no matter where you live, I’ll show you how you can get your compost setup right in Episode 3 of The Joyful Gardener. You’ll learn how to...

- Pick the right compost system that suits your lifestyle (there are wrong ones).
- Discover how to fix wet, dry and smelly compost piles as well as speed up the composting process.
- Create your first line of defense against pests and diseases (it’s NOT dish soap, canola oil, or baking soda).
- Brew compost teas and apply biochar that will protect and nourish your crops without chemicals or pesticides.

And you know what else is really cool? A humble little compost bin can support a garden big enough to feed 10+ people. It really doesn’t take much.

If you want to learn the secrets of creating homemade compost with just 10 minutes a day turning the pile… check out episode 3 today:

>>>Making Compost & Compost Teas

You get my top composting shortcuts I’ve learned without spending the years it took to learn them. And I think that’s something you can find quite a-peel-ing. 😉

Peace, joy and carrots,
Stacey

P.S. Read what people are saying about this event:

“Stacey is very interesting to listen to w/o ever saying, “Um”. 😊. I’ve learned much already and look forward to the next videos. I want to plant my garden right.” Dodie K.

“I am looking forward to learning more about being a successful gardener. It's so empowering!” Michelle T.

“Fun is better than perfect! Enroll a neighbor to use land and share harvest! I have superpowers!” Serafin A.

“I love how you help so many find joy in growing their own food.” Cherlynn B.

Cold Weather Health Tips:
  • Dress Warm: Gloves, socks and good shoes are key in cold weather. This week we have been digging in storage bins to get our winter gear out and dust it off. I remember my mom would always yell across the house when we were going out in colder months. "Where is your hat!!" This was drilled into me from a young age. Keeping our temperature regulated can help our immune system to stay optimal.

  • Keep Moving: If you are a walker or runner, invest in a range of cold weather workout gear so you can keep up with your routine before the temperature drops. With the right clothes and planning, you can get through most workouts, even in colder temperatures.

  • Eat Healthily: Loading up on fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, is good for your immune system. Eat healthy foods to keep your body healthy even in cold weather. Avoid processed foods and sugars as usual to give your body all the resources needed to stay healthy. Also, try adding some supplementation with things like vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B complex, Elderberry, Zinc and my personal favorite, a glass of Greens+ with an ounce of Haelan 951. 😉

  • Get Outside: Even if it's cold, go out and enjoy the warm sun and get fresh air and sunlight, which helps your body produce vitamin D and gives you energy. Cold weather can often cause us to lock up our homes and recirculate stale air. Getting some fresh air is great for your health. (Also, having an air purifier can be great too)
  • Drink Water: In cold weather, it is easy to forget to drink the water your body needs to function optimally. When its hot outside we are generally reminded to drink more because we are sweating. However, in colder months we need to still make sure we are getting the proper intake.
Well, I hope these tips help you to stay healthy in colder weather. Especially those of us who don't typically have this type of weather.
Until next time! Make good choices and stay healthy! 😀

WEEKLY CHALLENGE: NO TV CHALLENGE
I’m officially challenging you to a DARE! Are you ready?

This is the NO TV challenge. That’s right… one whole entire week without TELEVISION!!

Think you can do it?

According to the US Bureau of Labor, Americans spend more than half of their leisure time watching TV!

That’s an average of 2.8 hours a day… or around 170 minutes! That’s almost 20 hours a week!!!

This matters a LOT, because the effects of watching a lot of TV extends far beyond what you might think.

Watching hours of TV every day is linked with a higher risk of heart disease – the more you watch, the higher the risk!

So… who is BRAVE enough to give it a go with me this week!?

What to do instead:
  • Read a book
  • Play a board game with your friends or family
  • Take up a hobby
  • Clean out your attic/basement/storage room and sell stuff online!
  • Listen to your favorite music
  • Go for a walk outside!
  • Visit with friends
How are YOU going to fill your days/nights this week with the TV off?

Pain Regimen Reduces Opioid Use

By Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, MDs

In 1834, Richard Henry Dana Jr. took a two-year sea voyage from Boston to California and chronicled it in his book "Two Years Before the Mast," revealing the hardships and pain of that daring adventure.

Today, researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston are revealing the incredible benefits of their MAST (multimodal analgesic strategies for trauma) regimen, designed to manage acute pain (such as after surgery) while reducing the use of opioids.

Special: Blueberries vs. Strawberries vs... ‘The #1 Worst Food for Energy’

Their study, published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, found that using oral acetaminophen along with naproxen, gabapentin (the only drug that required a prescription), and lidocaine patches was an effective pain management approach.

If there was breakthrough pain, then oxycodone (an opioid) was used.

This regimen significantly reduced the amount of opioids given to patients while in the hospital, and reduced by 5% the number of opioid prescriptions provided when they headed home. (At the Cleveland Clinic, an unpublished study found alternative pain relief approaches can reduce opioid prescriptions by as much as 35%.)

While opioids are often needed, and are effective, it's smart to limit their use whenever possible.

Fortunately, MAST reduces opioid-associated risks, including gastrointestinal complications and dependency, while relieving severe, acute pain.

If you are going in for surgery or end up in the emergency room because of an accident, ask about this new approach to pain management. That way, you can be the MASTer of your treatment.

And if you do take opioids for a short time, consult a pain management specialist to oversee prescriptions and doses.
