No matter how intense your emotions are, the fact is that they will pass. It's healthy to let yourself feel what you feel. But don't let those emotions hijack you.

Going forward, your life may be different, but you can still experience happiness again. Connect with your loved ones. Help each other.

Challenge yourself to find a little bit of joy each day. Just one thing that makes you smile each day. Allow yourself to fully embrace it.

The goal is not to deny your pain but to make space for other emotions as well.

Hey there Jimi,
As people age, one of the things they tend to find most concerning is the loss of strength and mobility. While some muscular decline is natural and expected, too much muscle loss can lead to significant problems, especially relating to independence.

Thankfully, there are ways to maintain and promote muscle mass. However, it should be stressed that some muscle loss is natural and unavoidable. The key is maintaining a healthy lifestyle, using both diet and exercise to promote mobility and muscle development.

1. Start Resistance Training

Resistance training is among the better fitness routines for older individuals. This style of strength training amounts to less risk of injury, and with varying difficulties, the equipment meets users where they currently are physically.

For a fitness routine to effectively build muscle, you need to commit to it and challenge yourself during it. Older individuals should aim for two to three sessions per week for a minimum of 30 minutes each. You should also consult with your physician before starting any new fitness regimen.

2. Walk

Have you ever been driving down the street and witnessed someone who looks like they are running but at a walking pace? People often undervalue the benefits of simply walking.

Pretending to run or convincing yourself you are running can stress your system because your brain reacts to what it thinks your body is doing. Walking can be just as beneficial as running when done right.

Not only will frequent walks increase your mobility, but they can also speed up recovery time and build and maintain muscle mass. Also, you do not have to take one long walk to experience the benefits; you can break your 30-minute exercise allotment down into ten-minute increments, allowing for multiple breaks throughout the day.

3. Eat Protein

Beyond exercising, you will also need to focus on your diet. Protein is one of the best things you can consume to improve muscle mass.

The body needs amino acids to build muscle, and it converts or breaks down protein-rich foods into these necessary compounds. You can have a diverse diet when focusing on protein. Some popular protein-rich options include:

4. Increase Omega-3 Fatty Acids

As people age, they tend to have more problems with inflammation. Unfortunately, inflammation can cause muscles to break down.

To reduce the risk of muscle loss because of inflammation, you will want to include anti-inflammatories in your diet. The most potent anti-inflammatories come from omega-3 fatty acids.

You can take omega-3 supplements, but it is best to get them from a food source. While walnuts and flaxseeds contain these essential nutrients, fatty fish like salmon is the best source.

5. Take a Vitamin D Supplement

People under the age of 60 can usually get enough vitamin D from sun exposure. Unfortunately, for people over 60, it takes approximately four times longer to receive the vitamin from the sun.

Since vitamin D is vital to muscle protein synthesis, it is necessary to find another way to ingest the vitamin. The best way to maintain vitamin D levels is with a supplement. However, before you start any supplements, talk to your doctor.

There are many ways to maintain muscle mass and promote strength as you age. However, you must get comfortable with some loss.

The Hidden Causes of Endometriosis


Today we are seeing unprecedented levels of endometriosis, PCOS, infertility, and other hormone-related issues. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month and unfortunately, it affects 1 in 10 women worldwide. However, there are simple methods that have been shown to stop the pain and address the root causes of endometriosis.

The first step in diagnosing endometriosis is noticing symptoms. The most common endometriosis symptoms include menstrual pain, painful intercourse, pelvic pain, difficulties getting pregnant, and irritable bowel symptoms. A doctor will usually perform a pelvic exam and ultrasound. Although ultrasounds do not always distinctly show endometriomas, they do often show ovarian cysts which is a related symptom. A more invasive diagnosis option is laparoscopy, where a doctor makes an incision in the stomach to check for signs of endometriosis.

Endometriosis looks like little dark spots known as lesions on the endometrium. Prolonged exposure to estrogen turns on an enzyme called cyclooxygenase enzyme, which is the source of the lesion pain common in patients with endometriosis. "Endometriotic lesions have high cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 and COX-2-derived prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) biosynthesis compared with the normal endometrium…High concentrations of COX-2 lead to high cell proliferation, a low level of apoptosis, high invasion, angiogenesis, EMS-related pain, and infertility" (Int J Biol Sci-Fi). The prolonged exposure to estrogen does not just come from the ovaries, but also other cells in the body which can make their own estrogen and excite the endometrial tissue. Furthermore, if progesterone production is impaired, this may further exacerbate the imbalance of estrogen.
Endometriosis News recently stated, "In endometriosis, increased inflammation and the release of inflammatory cytokines partly result from altered progesterone production…Since endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent disease, treatment approaches still rely on mechanisms to suppress estrogen action."
When treating endometriosis it’s key to acknowledge factors at play so that the root cause of prolonged estrogen exposure can be addressed.
-Addressing diet is key to balanced sex hormones. Adequate protein consumption so that the liver can detox estrogen may help.
-Reducing stress may help to alleviate endometriosis because prolonged stress can have an estrogenic effect on cells.
-Supporting progesterone with bioidentical progesterone. Progesterone opposes estrogen and has been shown to solve many of the symptoms of endometriosis.
-Certain estrogen-lowering vitamins like Vitamin E may help. One study showed vitamin E "significantly reduced aromatase expression, suggesting reduced estrogen synthesis" (The FASEB Journal).
-Low thyroid can cause estrogen excess and should be addressed. If needed, a natural desiccated thyroid may help alleviate symptoms.
-Herbs that support progesterone may help. Chamomile extract has been shown to have an anti-estrogenic effect. In one study, "chamomile extract was shown to stimulate osteoblastic cell differentiation and to exhibit an anti-estrogenic effect, suggesting an estrogen receptor-related mechanism (67)" (Mol Med Report).
-Working closely with a provider that understands the true causes of endometrial and ways to support the body to overcome the symptoms can be helpful.​

Dr. Chauncey Crandall, M.D., writes:

Women with slightly elevated blood pressure before they get pregnant may have an increased risk of miscarriage, even if they’re not diagnosed with hypertension.

Special: How to Fix Your Blood Pressure (Do This Every Day)

Researchers examined data on 1,228 women with at least one previous pregnancy loss who were trying to conceive. Out of the 797 participants who became pregnant during the study, 188, or about 24%, had a miscarriage.

Even when their blood pressure was in a healthy range before pregnancy, each 10 mmHg increase in systolic blood pressure was associated with an 8% higher risk of miscarriage. Each 10 mmHg increase in diastolic blood pressure was associated with an 18% greater chance of miscarriage.

The American Heart Association defines hypertension, or high blood pressure, as a systolic reading of 130 mmHg or higher and diastolic readings of 80 mmHg or higher.

Systolic pressure reflects the pressure blood exerts against artery walls when the heart beats. Diastolic pressure indicates the pressure between beats.

He is a Yale graduate and is chief of the Cardiac Transplant Program at the world-renowned Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He practices interventional, vascular, and transplant cardiology.

Hi Jimi,​

Most of my life I've taken the road less traveled.

I'm an only child and I never really fit in as a kid...

I questioned everything. And I was often inclined to do the opposite of what everyone else was doing... not because I wanted to be different. I just was different.

When faced with cancer, I went against conventional advice and instead, relied on my instincts, intuition and faith to guide me on the path to healing.

I prayed a lot. I prayed for wisdom and guidance. I prayed for strength. I prayed for my wife and family, and I prayed for peace, and for healing...

I was desperate, and I reached out and asked for help. And I got it.

I stepped out in faith, into the unknown, alone... And miracles happened. People and information came into my life at exactly the right time. I knew it wasn't coincidence.

Yes, I took Massive Action to change my life...

But it was clear to me that God was guiding me and answering my prayers.

Tonight's module on Spiritual Healing and last night's module on Stress are the two most important, most personal and powerful modules in the SQUARE ONE course.

In tonight's Module, I will be sharing my faith journey with you, things I never shared publicly until I created this course... my struggles, doubts and fears, and the answers I found when I went looking with an open mind and an open heart.

As you entertain new ideas you learn to push yourself out of your comfort zone and change outdated beliefs.

When you're comfortable considering different perspectives, you're less judgmental of other people. Having an open mind makes you more empathetic.

Even when you disagree with someone, you don’t get angry or shut them down. Try to actively think in an open-minded way.

Consider alternative points of view as often as you can. Avoid jumping to conclusions. Things are often not as extreme as we may think.
