Dr. Chauncey Crandall, M.D., writes:

Sleep is essential for good health, and too little of it may shorten your life, according to one study. REM (rapid eye movement) sleep is when dreams occur and the body repairs itself. For every 5% reduction in REM sleep, mortality rates increase 13% to 17% among older and middle-aged adults.

Special: The Simple Secret to Really Good Sleep

The study followed more than 2,600 men, average age 76, for a median of 12 years. Researchers also collected data on nearly 1,400 men and women, average age 52, who were part of another study and were followed for a median of 21 years.

In both groups, poor REM sleep was tied to early death from any cause as well as death from cardiovascular and other diseases. This shows that it’s not just total sleep time that’s important, but the right balance of the different stages of sleep.

Depression can be paralyzing. You want to be happy, but you just can’t shake that heavy feeling of sadness. You might also feel empty or hopeless and cry a lot. You might get annoyed and angry at every little thing or spend your days sleeping. While there are many sides to depression, these are a few common signs.
If you are struggling with overwhelming sadness and/or anxiety that never seems to go away, consider using a multilayered strategy to help bring your mind and body into balance, while also reducing aggravating factors that contribute to depression and anxiety.
Something as simple as going for a walk can help. For example, according to a new study from the University of Limerick, Ireland, just 20 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise (e.g., brisk walking) five days per week helps slash the risk of depression symptoms and odds of major depression!
By supporting your mental and emotional health from many angles, you can do a lot to alleviate depression and enhance your energy naturally — creating positive, rather than negative, feedback loops.​

Light Watkins has been operating in the meditation space since 1998, first as a practitioner, then as an apprentice to his Vedic Meditation teacher, and finally as a teacher himself. He travels worldwide, giving talks on happiness, mindfulness, inspiration, and meditation, and is the leader of popular meditation trainings and retreats.
Light hosts the popular inspirational podcast, The Light Watkins Show, and he writes a popular daily email called Light's Daily Dose of Inspiration. He founded The Shine Movement, a pop-up variety show on a mission to share the stories of regular people making a difference in the world. Yes... I often say most people are "overstimulated" (in so many ways) I once was a volunteer chaperone at my son't boy scout camp (this one was unique... way up in the mountains on a remote logging road) Our camp was the furthest up the hill from the "base" The only place you could smoke was in a special area for the employees like cooks janitors, ect) I literally had to "walk a mile" for a camel (that was an old commercial slogan) Anyway, after several days with no TV, no music, no news (not even newspapers) It was such a good experience... away from all the constant stimulation (just nature) Drove home, turned on the TV (mostly just out of habit) and took a shower ( 4 days without one) The bathroom window was open. I hear all these sirens (like armageddon) I kind of freaked out for a moment. It was just the damned TV (don't even know what was on) That experience changed my life forever.

Here's some more good news, I heard on the news that Mexico has made the statement that it will NO longer buy GMO corn from USA or Canada, or anywhere lese. USA and Canada are puttin up a fight on it, I wish I woulda caught the whole story
