I have a bit of ancestral wisdom for you below, but first a quick reminder to watch The Sacred Science movie if you haven’t already. We’re screening it for FREE until Sunday at 11:59pm ET - make sure to squeeze it in!


Ok, one key lesson from the film that has been a guiding force in my life ever since is the medicine of silence.

Our overworked minds often infiltrate the body with worry. But when we get quiet enough, we allow ourselves to enter a state of direct experience with the beauty that is all around us. We liberate ourselves from woes and limitations, and we open up to possibilities that weren’t visible just moments before.

In the Amazonian healing protocols seen in The Sacred Science movie, the patient is asked to surrender just about everything they own at the door - i.e. all distractions. This means cell phones, laptops, watches, jewelry, books of all types.

You are then led deep into the forest to your own dieta hut. Yes, you can wander outside and occasionally go on solitary walks through the jungle, maybe even jump into the river. But the majority of your waking hours are spent in this thinly screened-off enclosure, far from anyone—or anything—else.

The idea is to remove any outside stimuli that might distract you from doing the deep inner work that is required for healing to take place.

The good news is that we can apply these same methods at home. You don’t have to go to the Amazon to experience deep states of awakening.

It sounds so simple, but we humans go to great lengths to avoid sitting alone in silence. We tend to seek anything that might give us quick comfort instead.

If you’re ready to sit with the medicine of silence, then try this exercise:

Take yourself to your favorite place in nature or somewhere you can be alone and undisturbed. Leave EVERYTHING behind. That means no phone.

Bring something you can use as a timer - or surrender to your own sense of time.

Take a few grounding breaths or use whatever tools are in your practice to get into a meditative state. Begin to watch your thoughts and notice how they fluctuate over the course of 60 minutes.

Some things you may want to pay attention to:

  • How long does it take for your mind to become extremely quiet?
  • What triggers your mind to become hyperactive?
  • What thoughts, positive and negative, begin to come up?
  • What can you sense about your immediate environment?
  • If you are working through a particular health challenge, what thoughts are coming up around this?
At the end of your 60 minutes, try journaling about your experience. The profound medicine of silence is always accessible to us, we just need to make space for it.

In the last days of the Biden Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency announced the start of a project it should have finished before Trump took office: determining the health risks of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in sewage sludge disposed of on farmland.

Biden’s EPA found that these toxic “forever chemicals” can cause cancer and other diseases in people who live near farm fields where sludge is spread–or those who consume tainted milk, beef, or other foods from these farms–including kidney and liver cancers, decreased birth weight, increased cholesterol, and diminished immune system function.

How likely is Trump’s EPA to finalize these findings?

Trump’s EPA has already decided to “rescind” and “reconsider” regulatory limits on PFAS in drinking water. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are trying to stop the EPA’s health risks determination. The House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee included a policy rider in their fiscal year 2026 appropriations bill, Section 507, that would permanently prohibit the EPA from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing its Draft Risk Assessment for PFOA and PFOS in Sewage Sludge.

Nutritional Deficiencies Are Common

Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., writes:

My job as a physician is not only to properly diagnose a patient, but also to help that patient improve his or her health. My medical education taught me how to diagnose pathologies. However, it did not teach me how to analyze a patient’s health status.

After educating myself about what aids the human body in achieving good health, I learned to order the proper lab tests to assess a patient’s nutritional status. This includes checking for proper macronutrient and micronutrient levels.

Special: Doctor: All Multivitamins Are Not the Same

Unfortunately, I was also taught that nutritional deficiencies were a thing of the past that only occurred back in the days when food was scarce. I recall only three hours (out of four years of medical school) of instruction devoted to illnesses caused by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. I learned that scurvy — caused by severe vitamin C deficiency — was characterized by bleeding gums and leaky blood vessels.

I was also taught that iodine deficiency causes goiter, which is a swelling of the thyroid gland. During that instruction, the professor emphasized that both scurvy and iodine deficiency were essentially extinct conditions because of the U.S. government’s mandate that many foods be fortified with vitamin C and that salt be iodized. But during those three short hours, I was not taught to order a lab test to see if a patient had optimal levels of vitamin C or iodine (or any other nutrients, for that matter).

Some 30 years later, after ordering and interpreting thousands of laboratory tests for micronutrient and macronutrient levels, I can assure you that nutritional deficiencies are very common in the modern world.

When I began checking patients’ micronutrients and macronutrients, I was astonished by how deficient they were. It didn’t matter whether they were young or old — everybody had some deficiencies. How could that be the case with our abundant food supply?

I had very few overweight classmates when I was in elementary school. Today, obesity has become commonplace in schools, and a third of U.S. adults are obese. That’s a national tragedy. Overweight patients have many more abnormal lab test results. In fact, I’ve found that the vast majority of all patients and nearly every obese patient has multiple nutritional and hormonal imbalances.

Unless those imbalances are identified and dealt with, the patient will continue to struggle with his or her weight and other comorbidities such as diabetes and heart disease.

Hi Jim,

I have an exciting share that I hope may be helpful.

I recently watched a fantastic webinar on Epstein-Barr virus through @desbiopractitioners and it was a big a-ha on my own symptoms and history.

My EBV journey:

-Had mononucleosis at 17
-Moved into a moldy house at 33 (not known)
-Started to have chronic aches, chills and sore throats at 35
-Was doing everything to heal without results
-Diagnosed with Epstein Barr at age 40
-Found out I had Hashimoto's at 41
-Found out I was living in mold just after (it's very immune dysregulating)
-Got a whole lot better but even now I have some weird flare-ups that I'm just realizing is still EBV

I'm generally healthy but I can have sudden bouts of immune flare-ups of feverishness followed by asthma - like out of nowhere and then it's over in 24-48 hours.

I've also had bouts of super sleepiness and I'll sleep 12 hours a night or take two naps a day. And I have some swelling around my thyroid at times.

Excited to be starting a deep EBV protocol through DesBio including homeopathics and enzymes.

More on EBV:

Discovered by two British researchers ( Epstein and Barr), this is human herpes virus 4.

If you are exposed very early in life you may never have symptoms and never have a flare up.

However if you are exposed in your later teen years you may be more symptomatic and risk flare-ups especially if your immune system is compromised.

Triggers include stress, mold and menopause. I have also developed flying in in airplane as I trigger so I bought a radiation blanket.

When this virus attaches to your white blood cells, your cells are unable to fight the infection properly and you experience symptoms.

EBV is also associated with a few types of cancer.

A summary to this short post: most people will be exposed to this virus and it won't be a big problem.

However if you experienced it severely initially as mononucleosis and have already had flare-ups of feverishness and swollen glands I really suggest you look into treatment and or testing.

The Age of Blind Trust Is Over

Message from your unborn child, your newborn, your infant, and your minor children...​

“Mom & Dad: Are you going to poison me prior to investigating the vaccines they want to inject into my body?”​

In what situations do you follow authoritarian mandates simply because of the explanation, “I said so”?
Parents, perhaps we have set our children up to accept this level of blind faith by ending arguments with “because I said so.” Or perhaps we were set up for this by our own parents using that technique!
As I considered why, I realized our entire society is set up for obedience. We obey traffic laws (sometimes). Students are taught to follow teachers' instructions, to listen to their parents, doctors, attorneys, and elders. Most would agree that we need law and order for a society to function. Forbidding theft and murder are examples of laws we can all agree on.
What should parents do when confronted by a doctor or anyone telling you that you must vaccinate yourself while pregnant, give your newborn a hepatitis B vaccine containing enough aluminum to poison an adult, or give all the CDC-recommended vaccines (up to 10 at a time) or else:
  • Your child cannot attend daycare or school.
  • You might lose custody of your child for being a neglectful parent.
  • You will be putting your child at risk of death from a vaccine-preventable disease.
  • You will be a disgrace to your family.
  • Your child won’t be able to play with other children.
Why are about half of new parents now not sure if they will follow the CDC vaccination schedule, as demonstrated by this recent JAMA study, “Vaccination Intentions During Pregnancy and Among Parents of Young Children”?​

Sleep Your Way to Better Health

While cholesterol-lowering medications have been among the most profitable prescription drugs for the pharmaceutical industry, revenue for sleep medications is increasing as well, because approximately 60 million Americans experience chronic sleep disorders.

The problem with drugs is that they rarely produce restful sleep, and often plague users with complications and side effects, including next-day drowsiness, sleepwalking, and confusion.

Special: Why Those Over 50 Should Take Sleep Issues Seriously

Here are a few steps that will increase the likelihood of a good night’s sleep:

• Always try to go to bed at least by midnight. Staying up late resets the biological clock and can disrupt sleep patterns.

• Keep the room slightly cool. Benjamin Franklin suggested a cool pillow to induce sleep.

• Make sure the room is dark. Avoid nightlights, brightly lit phone dials, and illuminated clocks.

• Try playing soothing music on a low volume at bedtime.

• Avoid reading or watching television at least one hour before bedtime. Allow yourself time to wind down.

• Avoid sugar and sweet foods in the evening. Some people will become hypoglycemic during the night, and this will wake them up.

• Avoid caffeine, smoking, and all foods containing excitotoxins.

• Avoid sleeping late and taking naps during the day.

• Exercise earlier in the day. Exercise lowers inflammatory cytokines. Exercising late in the day revs up the metabolism, which can keep you awake. Do not exercise after 7 p.m.

• Before retiring for the night, take vitamin C, magnesium citrate, and melatonin.

Other natural sleep aids include valerian root, passionflower, and chamomile — all of which calm and soothe the nerves.
