From cancer to vibrant health—Dr. Jockers’ story

mail

Hi, just a reminder that you're receiving this newsletter because you purchased one of our programs or attended one of our events or webinars. If you no longer want these emails, you can unsubscribe here.

At 27, Dr. David Jocker was burning the candle at both ends: late nights, stress eating, gut pain, brain fog, and bone-deep fatigue.
Then came the wake-up call: skin cancer, the same disease that took his grandfather.
Instead of surrendering, he rebuilt his health by cooling the underlying inflammation with food timing, smarter nutrition, movement, and targeted therapies…
These are disciplines now backed by a fast-growing body of research (Furman et al., 2019; Irwin, 2015; Estruch et al., 2013; Gleeson et al., 2011).
👉 Join Dr. Jockers and 30+ experts at the Conquering Chronic Inflammation Summit 2.0—Aug 5–9, 2025. Reserve your seat for $0.

What you’ll learn at the Summit

  • Find the true triggers. How hidden drivers—blood-sugar swings, sleep loss, visceral fat, oral/gut dysbiosis, and environmental stressors—keep the immune system on a hair-trigger.
  • Practical ways to bias meals toward polyphenols and omega-3s that modulate inflammatory pathways, without complicated rules. (Calder, 2017, Proc Nutr Soc)
  • The right blend of aerobic + resistance work that lowers inflammatory tone and improves immune regulation.
👉 Save your seat now (Aug 5–9, 2025). You’ll get the full playbooks, case studies, and Q&A with doctors who do this every day.

If one idea sticks, make it this:

Inflammation isn’t “bad.” It’s a powerful repair system that’s stuck on.
Your job isn’t to smash it; it’s to retrain it with the daily inputs it understands: light, sleep, movement, and nutrient-dense food.
The Summit shows you how. Real protocols. Real clinicians. Real-world results.

Most people know probiotics, which are the "good bacteria" that live in your gut and support digestion, immunity, and your overall health.

However, fewer realize that probiotics can only thrive if they’re fed properly. That’s where prebiotics come in.

Prebiotics are special types of fiber that your body can’t digest but your beneficial gut bacteria can.

They act as fuel, helping these microbes multiply and produce compounds that reduce inflammation, balance blood sugar, and strengthen your immune system.

Here are the three top fruits widely available in supermarkets that are rich in prebiotics:

  • Bananas (especially slightly green): They contain resistant starch, a powerful prebiotic that nourishes gut bacteria and helps regulate blood sugar.
  • Apples: Rich in pectin, a type of soluble fiber shown to increase beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacteria.
  • Berries (such as blueberries and raspberries): Packed with prebiotic fibers and polyphenols that your microbes convert into anti-inflammatory compounds.
Next up, Jimi, to gain an understanding of the other top foods and nutrients for your gut health, be sure to see...

Can You Exercise AFib Away?

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

New research suggests exercise might ease the severity of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common abnormal heart rhythm affecting millions of Americans where the upper chambers of the heart quiver in a fast, irregular heartbeat.

Special: Dr. Crandall’s Healthy Habits to Stop and Reverse Heart Disease

When people with AFIB participated in a six-month exercise program called ACTIVE-AF, they were able to maintain a normal heart rhythm and had less-severe symptoms than those who only received information about the benefits of exercise. The benefits lasted for at least one year.

Everyone in the study continued their usual AFib medications. After one year, the AFib recurrence rate was 60% in the exercise group, compared to 80% in the advice-only group. Recurrence was defined as having an AFib episode that lasted longer than 30 seconds, undergoing an ablation procedure, or requiring ongoing anti-arrhythmic drug therapy.

People in the exercise group also had fewer heart palpations and less shortness of breath and fatigue at one year compared to those folks in the advice-only group.

Hi Jimi, with Microbiome starting tomorrow (more on this below), here's a little-known tip to boost your gut health today:

Be sure to stretch.

Specifically, try the top stretches for your gut below that massage your internal organs, calm your nervous system, help ease gas and bloating, and are otherwise excellent for your digestion and gut.

Try these before bed, in the morning, or anytime you feel sluggish digestion.

Here's an image of the 6 gut stretches, followed by a brief explanation of each for you:

mail

1) Cat–Cow
Slowly alternate arching and rounding the back. This rhythmic motion massages the abdominal organs and helps regulate the gut–brain connection.
Do this for 1–2 minutes at an easy pace.

2) Child’s Pose
With your belly resting on your thighs, breathe deeply into your lower abdomen. Gentle compression can encourage movement through the intestines.
Hold 1–2 minutes, releasing if your knees or hips feel strained.

3) Supine Twist
Lying on your back, bring knees to one side, arms stretched out. This wrings out tension, gently compresses the belly, and stimulates circulation.
Hold 30–60 seconds per side.

4) Deep Squat
With feet slightly wider than hip-width, sit into a natural squat. This opens the hips and increases blood flow to the digestive tract.
Hold 30–60 seconds, or break into shorter rounds if you need to.

5) Knees-to-Chest
Hugging the knees inward massages the colon and can ease gas.
Hold 5–10 slow breaths, repeat 2–3 times.

6) Bridge Pose
Pressing feet down, lift hips toward the ceiling. This stretches the abdomen and stimulates circulation.
Hold 30–45 seconds, repeat 2–3 times.

Next up, Jimi, be sure to register here for the free Microbiome that starts tomorrow if you are interested.

First of all, you get two excellent new guides on healing your gut and microbiome right away as a bonus.

Not all fermented foods are “good” for you
mail

mail

Hey, it's Dr. Nandi here...

I know you might not expect me to say this...

But NOT all fermented foods are good for your gut (or your brain).

In my 20+ years as a gastroenterologist, I've seen too many patients loading up on store-bought yogurt, kombucha, and fermented foods thinking they're helping their gut health…

Meanwhile, their anxiety and brain fog keep getting worse.

Here's the problem…

Most grocery store fermented foods use wild, uncontrolled fermentation with random bacterial strains…

NOT the specific, studied strains that actually benefit your brain.

That yogurt? Random lactobacillus strains plus 12 grams of sugar.

That trendy kombucha? Wild fermentation that could produce harmful bacterial metabolites or mycotoxins (mold!).

Even traditional fermented foods can contain pathogenic microorganisms when quality control is poor.

And recently, a Polish study of 372 medical students backed this up…

Students who ate MORE fermented foods actually had WORSE anxiety and depression symptoms during stressful periods.

Not better. Worse!

Now, the gut-brain connection is absolutely real…

BUT, feeding it random bacterial strains with no proven mental health benefits — plus additives and potential contaminants — does more harm than good.

That’s why if you’re struggling with memory, recall, brain fog, or even low moods…

I recommend choosing probiotics that are actually DESIGNED to support your brain like this one.

Either way, be careful with store-bought fermented foods…

And pay close attention to how you feel before and after eating them!

Just because it’s marketed as “healthy”, doesn’t always mean it is :)

Sometimes all that's needed to shift our reality is a little wisdom, spoken to us with gentleness and a pure heart. I came across this powerful Lakota prayer a few days ago and wanted to share it with you. I hope it helps you on your path. I know it did for me.

Lakota Prayer

Great Mystery,
teach me how to trust
my heart,
my mind,
my intuition,
my inner knowing,
the senses of my body,
the blessings of my spirit.
Teach me to trust these things
so that I may enter my Sacred Space
and love beyond my fear,
and thus Walk in Balance
with the passing of each glorious Sun.

According to certain traditions, the Sacred Space is the space between exhalation and inhalation. To Walk in Balance is to have Heaven (spirituality) and Earth (physicality) in harmony.

At the core of this timeless wisdom is the word "trust". When did we stop trusting ourselves? When did we start giving that trust, that power, away?

In many ways the healing path is a process of reestablishing that trust with the infinite that resides within us, just waiting to be activated.

Ever Feel Stuck In The Same Old Patterns?

We all want to feel happy, inspired, needed, and loved. But sometimes even the best of us get into a funk that clouds our vision…

Sometimes we lose our way. I’ve been there—and I know how even a small spark of wisdom, a gentle reminder, or a compassionate voice can shift everything. That’s why I’m so excited for The Ultimate Healing Summit, happening September 9-15.

For 7 days, over 50 trusted teachers—including Deepak Chopra, Tara Brach, Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield, Kristin Neff, and more—will share simple, science-backed tools to release stress, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with what matters most. And it’s completely FREE.

If your spirit could use a little boost, reserve your spot here and let this be the week you begin to feel like yourself again.

Stay curious,

Color Your Hair? Read This First

Did you know graying hair is caused by increased levels of hydrogen peroxide?
It bleaches your hair from the inside out!
When you’re young, your body quickly breaks down this hydrogen peroxide.
But as you get older, heavy metals start accumulating in your system.
These heavy metals can reduce your ability to break down hydrogen peroxide.
As a result, your beautiful hair fades to gray.
Studies show exposure to common heavy metals such as cadmium, lead, and arsenic can accelerate aging in at least three other ways:
  1. They shorten your telomeres — the protective caps on your DNA that control how fast your cells age.
  2. They create oxidative stress — which damages cells in your brain, skin, and organs.
  3. They disrupt DNA methylation — accelerating biological aging behind the scenes.
Women have a higher risk than men of being affected by heavy metals.
For instance, estrogen affects the way your body handles heavy metals, potentially increasing your susceptibility to their toxic effects.
So if you’ve noticed more gray hairs, wrinkles, brain fog, or fatigue lately, it might not be ‘just aging.’
It might be heavy metals.
World-renowned detox expert, Dr. Wendy Myers, is sharing a free class on the Nobel Prize science behind the fastest and safest at-home detox available.
