Hi Jimi,
Every year, one report lands in my inbox and I find myself forwarding it to just about everyone I know.

The EWG's Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen just dropped for 2026, and if you do any of the grocery shopping in your household, this one's worth a few minutes of your time.

Here's the thing: I don't share this to create fear around food. The goal has always been the opposite... to give you the clearest possible picture so you can make confident, informed choices without second-guessing every aisle at the supermarket.

What I find genuinely fascinating about this list is how it shifts year to year. It's a real snapshot of how food safety standards and pesticide use are evolving across the industry, and sometimes the changes are surprising.

This year, spinach and kale hold firm (meaning they're more likely to have pesticides) at the top of the Dirty Dozen, while strawberries, grapes, and peaches are back on the list too. On the flip side, avocados, pineapple, and onions remain among the cleanest, largely because their tougher skin acts as a natural barrier to pesticide absorption.

It's a simple framework, but it can make a real difference, especially if buying everything organic isn't always realistic for your budget (and honestly, for most people it isn't).

2026’s Dirty Dozen List

The Dirty Dozen consists of fruits and vegetables that tend to have the highest levels of pesticide residues when conventionally grown. So to err on the side of caution, we definitely recommend you buy organic, or at least spray-free, when picking these up at your local grower this year.
  1. Spinach
  2. Kale, collard, and mustard greens
  3. Strawberries
  4. Grapes
  5. Nectarines
  6. Peaches
  7. Cherries
  8. Apples
  9. Blackberries
  10. Pears
  11. Potatoes

2026's Clean Fifteen List

The Clean Fifteen comprises fruits and vegetables that tend to have the lowest levels of pesticide residues when conventionally grown. For these items, buying organic is considered less crucial because they have lower pesticide residue levels than the Dirty Dozen. One thing you’ll notice is that most of these safe foods tend to have a tougher exterior or skin that is removed when prepared for eating. You could even see this as a suit of armor that protects the foods from the outside world so you can enjoy them in all their deliciousness.

I want to kick off and welcome Stress Awareness Month by taking a real look at how stress actually shows up in your everyday life.

It’s easy to brush it aside as just another part of being busy, but the signals your body sends are real, and worth paying attention to.

Because stress is so much more than an occasional worry.

Unlike worry, which stems from our internal thoughts, stress is a response to external pressures.

Think about scenarios like moving house, going through a divorce, becoming a parent, or preparing for a high-stakes interview. It affects both mind and body, and for many people, it’s a constant, enduring companion.

Here are five easily-felt signals that stress has taken the driver's seat:

  • Physical tension and pain
    Stress often reveals itself through musculoskeletal discomfort, persistent headaches, a clenched or aching jaw, tightness in the neck, shoulders, or back, and sometimes even unexplained aches throughout the body. These symptoms are your muscles’ response to being on constant alert, often without you realizing it.

  • Disrupted energy and sleep cycles
    Chronic stress can leave you drained during the day, even after a full night’s sleep. Paradoxically, it can also make it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep, as your mind races and your body remains on high alert, preventing deep rest.

  • Internal distress and irregular body functions
    Beyond muscle tension, stress can upset your internal balance, causing shallow breathing, chest pains, heart palpitations, digestive problems (like stomach pain, bloating, or nausea), or even spells of dizziness. These symptoms reflect your organs and internal systems reacting to prolonged pressure.

  • Emotional overwhelm and indecision
    When stress is triggered by external situations, it can make you feel powerless or “at a loss.” This sense of overwhelm often leads to difficulty making decisions, irritability, or feeling emotionally raw, as if even small problems feel insurmountable.
  • Constant ‘fight or flight’ state
    Extended stress activates your sympathetic nervous system, keeping you in survival mode. This heightened state makes it hard to relax, recover, or experience pleasure, as your body is constantly bracing for the next challenge rather than shifting into healing and renewal.


If you’ve experienced any of these, ignoring these signs doesn’t make them go away. They simply become woven deeper into your day-to-day life until they feel normal.

Hey...I know it's April Fools Day today and I thought about pranking you, but honestly what I'm about to share is shocking enough on its own.

I wish what I was about to tell you was a joke, but it's not.

As you know, I've been investigating the differences between food products sold in America versus Europe for a really long time now.

And what I've found has really opened up my eyes as to how much Americans are being poisoned compared to our friends in other countries.

Food companies have reformulated their products to sell overseas – selling them safer versions of the same products while continuing to sell Americans the more toxic versions.

And the more I dug into this, the more I realized it wasn't just happening with processed food ingredients.

It runs the gamut from pesticides sprayed on our crops, chemicals in our plastics, the drugs and feed given to farm animals, even the substances in our cookware and food packaging.

The double standard is everywhere.

These 3 "superfoods" are secretly toxic

If you've been told that peanut butter, almonds, and spinach are healthy staples, what you're about to read could change your mind.

These 3 so-called superfoods might actually be causing problems inside your body.

Here's a closer look at why...

1. Peanut butter

Yes, peanut butter has some protein and a handful of vitamins. But the negatives outweigh the positives by a wide margin.

First off, peanuts contain some of the highest levels of aflatoxin out there.

That's a mold toxin that develops when peanuts sit in humid storage conditions.

Peanut butter is also loaded with inflammatory omega-6 fats. And because of how it's manufactured, those fats wind up damaged and oxidized.

Most of us are already overloaded with omega-6s from vegetable oils like soy, corn, and canola.

That imbalance contributes to insulin resistance, heart disease, brain inflammation, cancer, and a whole list of other problems.

The average person takes in 5 to 10 times more omega-6 than their body needs.Peanut butter also has moderate levels of oxalates.

These are plant-based antinutrients that, when consumed in excess, can trigger kidney stones, thyroid problems, gut issues, joint pain, and more.

And oxalates are an even bigger issue with the next food…


2. Spinach

Spinach is celebrated as a superfood green, but the downsides far exceed the upsides.

It's among the most oxalate-dense foods people eat regularly (along with beet greens, beets, almonds, and certain other vegetables and nuts).

One normal-sized bowl of spinach can pack up to 600 mg of oxalates.

According to Sally Norton, one of the leading oxalate researchers in the world, daily intake should stay between 100 and 200 mg total to avoid health issues from high-oxalate plants.

So you can see why spinach is a real problem given those extreme numbers.

Eating too many oxalates too often can cause kidney stones, thyroid dysfunction, gut damage, skin flare-ups, and painful joints.

Some people have actually landed in the emergency room with kidney failure after drinking green smoothies too frequently.

That's genuine oxalate poisoning.

3. Almonds

Almonds and almond milk are promoted as health foods, but they carry many of the same concerns listed above.

Too many omega-6 fats and far too many oxalates.

Having them occasionally probably won't do damage.

But I personally keep almonds to a minimum because of the oxalate and omega-6 issues.

Healthy Foods Coming to Hospitals Near You and Kansas Pesticide Immunity Shield Shut Down – Your MAHA Media Hub Recap​

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz announced new guidelines for hospitals this week: provide healthy food for patients or risk losing federal funding. This major MAHA™ win will have an immediate impact on protecting the most vulnerable among us, reinforcing that nutrition is one of the most important first lines of defense in healing.​
In another significant victory, Kansas HB 2467, which would have granted pesticide companies immunity from harm caused by their products, has failed. This outcome was driven in large part by the grassroots pressure sparked by the MAHA community.​

More than 6,000 everyday supermarket foods contain a type of ingredient that new research suggests may be damaging your gut lining from the inside out.

They’re called emulsifiers. And until this year, most of the evidence against them came from animal studies. Not anymore.

So what are emulsifiers?

They’re food additives used to blend ingredients that don’t naturally mix—like oil and water. They’re what keep your ice cream creamy, your salad dressing smooth, and your bread soft for days longer than it probably should be.

They’re in cereals, sauces, plant-based milks, protein bars, even foods that look “healthy” on the front of the package.

Now, not all food additives are a problem. Some are perfectly fine.

But three specific emulsifiers have been raising serious red flags in gut health research—and a recent human trial just confirmed why.

What they do inside your gut

For the past decade, researchers have been looking at what certain emulsifiers do to your digestive tract.

And what they found is pretty alarming.

Two common ones, carboxymethylcellulose and polysorbate-80, were actually changing the composition of gut bacteria. Pushing those bacteria into the protective mucus layer that’s supposed to keep them away from your intestinal wall. And increasing intestinal permeability (what we often call “leaky gut”).

But here’s the part that really got me.

When researchers took the gut bacteria from emulsifier-treated mice and transplanted them into mice that had never consumed emulsifiers, those mice developed the same inflammatory changes. The disrupted microbiome alone was enough to drive the inflammation.

So the damage isn’t just from the chemical itself. It’s from what it does to your bacteria.

Then a trial came along that really changed the conversation

Just last year, the results of a trial called ADDapt were presented. And honestly, I find this one genuinely fascinating.

This was a proper clinical trial: randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled. It involved 154 people with mild to moderately active Crohn’s disease across 19 hospitals in the UK—one of the largest dietary trials ever conducted in Crohn’s disease.

Both groups were put on a low-emulsifier diet. But here’s where it gets really interesting. The control group was secretly given emulsifiers back through their supermarket deliveries and daily snacks (which contained carrageenan, carboxymethylcellulose, and polysorbate-80). Neither group knew which one they were in.

So what happened after 8 weeks?

Patients on the genuinely low-emulsifier diet were three times more likely to see significant improvement in their symptoms.

They were more than twice as likely to go into remission.

And their fecal calprotectin, which is a key marker of gut inflammation, dropped significantly.

There were no serious side effects. And participants were actually able to stick with the diet, which tells you it’s realistic—not just theoretical.

Why this matters even if you don’t have Crohn’s

This study was specifically in people with Crohn’s disease. But the processes they identified—emulsifiers disrupting the microbiome, eroding the mucus layer, increasing permeability—aren’t unique to Crohn’s.

They’re the same processes that drive gut inflammation in people who’ve never been formally diagnosed with anything.

So if you’re dealing with bloating, food sensitivities, fatigue, or that general feeling that your gut is just not right, the emulsifiers in your everyday foods could be part of the picture.

And it goes beyond the gut, too. A large French study linked regular emulsifier exposure to increased risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes.

This isn’t just a gut issue. It’s a whole-body issue.

Three ingredients to start watching for

You don’t need to overhaul your whole kitchen. But these are the three emulsifiers with the strongest evidence for gut harm:
  • Carrageenan (sometimes listed as E407)
  • Carboxymethylcellulose / CMC (sometimes listed as E466)
  • Polysorbate-80 (sometimes listed as E433)

You’ll find them in ice cream, plant milks, sauces, dressings, processed meats, and plenty of foods that look clean on the front of the package.

Flip it over. Check the ingredients. If you see any of those three, see if there’s a simpler option next to it on the shelf. Often, there is.

And the simplest change of all? Cook more from scratch when you can. Whole foods don’t contain emulsifiers.

I know that’s easier said than done (believe me, with a baby at home, I get it). But even small shifts add up. Swapping one sauce. Choosing one cleaner option. It compounds over time.

Your gut lining is just one cell thick. It deserves to be protected, not slowly worn away by ingredients you didn’t even know were there.

Ashwagandha Improves Sleep Quality

In the Cureus Journal of Medical Science, researchers assessed the safety, efficacy, and tolerability of ashwagandha root extract for general health and sleep benefit in elderly people.

Superbugs Will Kill More People than Cancer if Big Ag Doesn’t Ditch Antibiotics and Pesticides​

The use of antibiotics in agriculture is a major cause of the increasing number of untreatable infections across our country.

Scientists publishing in Frontiers in Microbiology recently showed that the most common species of multi-drug-resistant bacteria from hospitals are not only resistant to multiple antibiotic classes, but also to high concentrations of the weedkiller glyphosate.

Drug-resistant foodborne illnesses are spreading through meat from factory farms, where medically important antibiotics are routinely fed to healthy animals under the guise of "prevention”, (now that using them for growth-promotion is prohibited).

Antibiotic fungicides and herbicides like glyphosate are making things worse, spawning antimicrobial resistant germs — including deadly yeasts and molds — that contaminate and live on fruits, vegetables, grains, or travel from farm runoff into tap water.

And water treatment won't save us. It doesn't kill them.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Farmers in Europe stopped using antimicrobials to boost growth over a decade prior to those in the U.S. They also no longer use antimicrobial animal drugs routinely to prevent disease. Antimicrobials on European farms have dropped by around 43 percent over nine years up to 2020 at which point their use was more than 80 percent lower than in the U.S.

These chemicals are used to grow produce, or after it’s harvested, and can remain on items when they’re sold. This includes fungicides like pyrimethanil and fludioxonil, which are linked to hormone disruption. It also includes pyrethroids like permethrin and cypermethrin, which recent studies in people have linked to harm to the developing nervous system.

Consumers have a right to know the types and amounts of pesticides on produce, given the potential health harms from exposure through consumption. Ample numbers of peer-reviewed scientific studies show that connection.”
