That would be pretty neat making your own knife blades tho....I would actually like one, handmade.
I have one I bought from a guy when I was in North Carolina that was hand forged. It's tiny, and doesn't hold a good edge. I don't think he hardened it. The Buck 110 made from 5160 that I got on Amazon is better.

I used to collect knives, then I gave them to my son, who now collects them.....BUT, I never had a handmade one.

I'd bet being in TX, there is quite a market for knives. Lot of hunters, etc...there.

I used to have an interesting collection of knives, but sold most of them. I prefer quality over quantity. The only knives I have that I made were never hardened, since I don't have a forge. The best ones were ground from files that were no longer viable for use as files.

It really is fun to pull red hot steel out and pound it on the anvil. I always wanted to make a Damascus blade, but just couldn't get the technique right for folding, pounding, reheating, pounding, etc. I watched one of those knife-maker TV thingies (a zillion years ago) and was awed by how smooth they made it look, Guess I am just not that good -- or lack the patience, though all my life people have commented that I have the patience of "Job," but I guess Job wasn't a knife maker. Or I am just not good enough. Anyway, I do not have a forge today and it is just as well... I can, however, perform the occasional miracle with wood. :)

Guys here will carry any cheap knife. They don't care about quality, because they can buy a new one for a buck or two. But, they'll drop a grand on a gun, no questions asked. I guess shooting is more important than cleaning their prey.

It would be hard to field dress an animal using a gun......:teehee:
Would you believe that ALL the knives sold around here are all stainless steel? Nobody sells knives made from high carbon steel anymore. That's why I went to Amazon for my Buck. Then, it had to be special edition, in order to not be stuck with a stainless Buck.

Make a cheap website, start taking orders....I bet you would be dumbfounded with all the orders you'd get.

One thing at a time. A fireproof floor to put a forge on. Then, a roof. Then, he can build a forge. After that, he can try to get high carbon steel and handle materials. I already bought forging tongs at a yard sale, and we have the hammers. Oh. The 500 pound anvil might be problematic to procure.

Don't you do some leather work too? If you make the knife, you need a beautiful custom sheath too, which might make the sale quicker than the blade for those customers who don't know about quality steel.
There you go....there is ALWAYS a way to start your own business, there is no such word as CAN'T.

Phillip has already been saying he is going to make all the knives, and I make the sheaths. I still want to forge a knife of my own that I can be proud of.

I did have a micro business once. Only made about 5K a year. Then went belly up after 3 years. Suppliers and buyers went out of business due to financial market changes.

I still have a kitchen knife I ground from a file that I have to finish grinding. Then, there is the smaller one I keep with my welder for stuff I have to scrape. I feel like I can't wait to forge blades from files. It's the only quality steel one can buy at yard sales.

Vandyvape lost my business. They crank out crap, and the suckers buy it. Then, Vandyvape thinks the suckers won't learn their lessons. At least I learned it on a lousy $40 atty that leaked.

The pulse is pretty nice if it didn’t leak.. either way I’m gonna patch it up and it’ll be fine for me

I have the Kylin. I was able to stop it from leaking too much for a few months. But then it found new ways to leak. It's like they make their shit that way on purpose.

You guys make me glad I have these cheap little Protanks... been sucking them for three years and nary a single leak from any of them. :D
I wound up buying a Smok Big Baby Beast. It don't leak as long as I use factory coils, and should last until I can get something that doesn't suck.

I’ve experienced leakage from all the RTAs I’ve had.. even from those that use coils..

I see geekvape didn't learn much. They discontinued their leaking eagles, then made the griffin the same way. Even the top airflow version has airholes on the bottom to leak through.
The OBS engine is looking good, but not sure if I can trust it not to leak.
