We have five house cats and they were all feral as babies. And five or more in the garage who are still ferals. Not too many mice or rabbits or birds that are dumb enough to land in the yard...

I've only seen one cat Monster would never dream of going after. A black panther on a wooded pasture used for cattle.
Are you referring to the humans known as Black Panthers? Or were you in a tropical country for this "cat" sighting? Because there is no evidence that even a single wild black panther has ever existed in the United States. You might have seen a dark colored cougar, but not a panther.

It was a panther. You know, with climate change, all kinds of weird shit is happening. I saw a ringtailed lemur 75 miles from Lake Tahoe, just a year before facing a grizzly there.

In KS there have been reports of a few Black Panther sightings.

Grizzlies are common in the mountains from northern California to Alaska/Yukon. But the "facts" are, that in spite of numerous reported sightings, there is more "evidence" presented for Bigfoot than for the existence of panthers in the USA. No one has ever been able to "prove" they saw one - not even a verifiable photograph. I have seen a lot of cougars (AKA mountain lions/pumas) and some were dark enough to be mistaken for panthers, but they were not. You may check official animal sighting web pages and you'll get the same answer I give here.

I was less than 50 feet away from this cat. It was definitely not a cougar.

All I can add to this discussion is that "panther" is not an animal species unto itself, but a black colored (melanistic?) large cat, usually of the leopard or jaguar families. Their range on this planet is Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and the jungles of central and south America. The black (usually dark brown) large cats that are being called "black panthers" in the USA, who live in mountainous western forests and Florida swamps, are actually cougars. Cougars, unlike their dark forest relatives (jags and leopards) are quite comfortable in deciduous forests and even open grasslands. If you two say you saw a large black cat, I will not say you didn't, but facts are facts - there has never been any proof of actual black panthers in the USA.

Hi and good night Woofy. Nice to see you here again.

And I think midnight is late enough for this Old Phart too, so I'm gonna snuggle up to my miniature tiger-stripped silver tabby tuxedo panther (Teddy) and get some much needed sleep. ;)

You betcha! I don't really eat much junk food, so I want the best! -- if I sit down as I did last night with some chips and dip, I munch for about 10 minutes or so, then I get bored with it and put it away. Vaping fixed a lot of my compulsive snacking, since I don't have to endure smokelessness till the next TV commercial -- I just sit there and vape. :D

But strangely, Wise makes better corn chips than name brand Fritos... they're thinner, a lot of them are "puffy" the way some potato chips are, and they're a good bit saltier too. Nom.

You're not wrong. We have our choices for and snacks. I agree and would rather get something of quality regardless the price.

I especially have to watch foods like a hawk because alot are loaded with msg and I absolutely cannot toleratee it. Msg does a number on my nervous system and I will have a chronic migraine if I eat anything with it in the ingredients. No matter what I won't be able to get rid of that migraine and twitchy nervous feeling until the food moves it's way out of my body. Shit, oatmeal does the same thing and actually worse!

I really really hate getting older. :giggle:

That really bites. I often feel persecuted by my body, but compared to a lot of folks around here, I have it pretty easy -- have to keep fats low and cholesterol intake almost nil, and absolutely NO sulfites of any kind -- there are nearly an infinite number of permutations: sodium sulfite, sodium metabisulfite, potassium metabisulfite, just on and on, and they can cause complete pulmonary collapse in asthmatics -- but other than those things, I have few limitations, other than those imposed by own tastes. I cannot and will not abide red bell peppers in ANYTHING, it makes anything it touches taste like burnt aluminum foil, ICK. No liver of any kind, EVER, likewise turnip greens or sweet potatoes, can't stand any of that shit. In adulthood, I finally acquired a taste for many kinds of fish, which I couldn't stand as a child, and also beets... hell, I'll even eat rutabagas and turnips (just not the greens!). And one of my most-fave foods since I was old enough to holler for TREES -- broccoli! :giggle: I even like brussel sprouts, which just taste like overcooked broccoli. :D

But you're right, getting older does suck... it's just one hell of a lot better than the alternative. ;) Only the good die young, so you know I'm baaaaaaaad. :giggle:

The rain actually quit for a couple of hours so I could saw my boards outside.
Speaking of rain...
Today's forecast: Mostly sunny, light wind, high 51 - no precipitation of any kind in the forecast
Actual: Freezing fog with 1/4 mile visibility all morning, got above freezing about 1 PM and had high winds and lots of rain, high was about 40 just before sunset - dark now and still raining

You really have some piss poor forecasts in your area.
The local yokel forecasters around here hit it pretty close most of the time.

That was NWS. The locals are usually wrong all the time and NWS is only wrong most of the time. I really wish we had someone who cares.
(Oh, in summer, the locals are usually right: "It will be hot today with a chance of thunderstorms")
Nother shitty day in yur neck-o-dah-woods...
Oh well. Life's a beach, so surf, dude. The work load is the same regardless of weather, so we just do what we gotta do.
