New on FT, 22mm diameter SS tank for V4 and up.

Screenshot 2014-12-21 at 11.47.46 PM.png

No more having to shorten Taifun GT SS tanks to fit. :) Of course, this fits Kayfun too.

@TheWestPole Yes, seen those, but I like durability. I don't care about seeing my juice level, using the Estia I realised I could tell spot on when the tank was nearing emptiness. I mean, we can tell with drippers.
I like SS, specially brushed ss. I'd cover my walls with brushed ss if I could.
And you can find a lot of spares for Kayfun style atties. Oddly, no one made a simple single piece ss tank, which would be the easiest to manufacture part ever. Even a bulged "fatty" version would be nice, like Gus' to keep it short and still enjoy a decent all day long juice capacity.

I know you wrote this a while ago, but you might still be interested. Check out post #653 above.

Borrowing your thread TheWestPole.

Big Buddha modifications are done. Sorted out the airflow, which is 2.4mm all the way to deck where it narrows down to 1-1.1mm. Took the positive block out, drilled the airholes with a 2mm bit and put it back together. Maybe enough room for 2.5mm holes, but this is good for now. Now its the way it should be. A bit more air than stock orchids. Didn't have to mess with the juice channels, wicks fine with 50/50 juice.

Props to you @Rommel. I like the attitude: less griping, more fixing. :)

Not to rehash an old thread but I just had to order a new insulator myself from avid Vapor for my v4. I was running at 1ohm and apparently I dry burned it a little too long. :(

I built too close to deck, same thing. Delrin tastes like shit.

yeah those are much more 'affordable' than the peek insulators, i'm curious what they're made of too..

maybe just the same as what the orchids come with?

They do seem to be the same as stock, which I think are Nylon, not Delrin, based on handling and trimming them. Not certain though. I would have to torch one to see, and haven't been willing to make that sacrifice yet.

Though I haven't melted an insulator yet, at this price it's not a bad idea to have a few spare sets, no?

thanks for posting this. i singed my insulator on both sides. nothing major at all- i didnt even taste it. BUT, i can see spares coming in handy. the insulator is just too close to the air holes. its hard to find a balance between having your coils close enough to the air hole, yet far enough from the insulator. i may have to end up reducing my coil diameter.

what should i look for? when i replaced my originals w/the peek insulators, i had to heat the positive pin to get that insulator off & happened to get a little warmer than i was aware.. haha, i'll see about taking some pics once i'm home

I've been running delrin that I made and they seem to be working good. I've been expiramenting a lot with coil placement lately and have had mine very close to the deck with no ill consequences. Anyone familiar with using acetal? Much like delrin.

Acetal is the generic name of the polymer made by several manufacturers; Delrin is Dupont's trademark name. Same basic chemistry. Like polycarbonate and Lexan.

New on FT. Foggy colors.

Screenshot 2014-12-27 at 2.40.06 AM.png

I prefer foggy over glossy, so great. Why these are Orchid and the others Kayfun, who knows.

I still need to get me a new KF glass tank to replace the busted one, but in no hurry. The PMMA one is doing nicely and I'm not gonna order one glass tank by itself, that's like asking for it to be broken..

In my experience, those have been the ones that don't get broken. I shit you not. BTW, I have a spare I don't need. You're welcome to it.

That would make twisted sense...lol

Wow, that is super nice of you...but it would probably cost you more in shipping than if I just bought one. And, I don't actually NEED one, I just hate wasting the pretty SS rings I bought. ;)

Other than FT, where would be the best place to buy one though? It's only a few bucks eh..
I checked IBTanked and don't see any...odd. Must be under custom tubes.

Glass only? eBay, otherwise $$$ for IBT custom, or buy a set with rings from 101vape.

You're gonna want that 2 for $10 and the o-rings deal.. Best bang for the buck in the US.

Well, I went and did this....more parts to play with. :D
Should arrive about the same time as my Orchid v4 from the contest win.

FT_order_dec_29_1014.png

I figure, if the glass doesn't get broke this time, I'll have two colors of rings and the glass for 'em. Plus, lots of fun things I can do with that pMMA setup.

And, it'll look luxe on my on-the-way purple wood and brass Fairy mod I picked up for $23 shipped.

(the one on the far left is like what I'm getting. It's 25mm, so the orchid will have lots of room)

Fasttech vapemail arrived today along with 2 of the 3 parts of my new stealth mod :D

FullSizeRender.jpg

Taifun nano cap, Taifun nano tank, v3 Orchid and an Ignition mount for the 18350 mod I have on the way. Already tested it on my box mod, vapes great and no leaks :D

Only challenge was slight modification on the cap to accept the chimney and keep the vacuum intact. Fun times!

Nice. I'm a big fan of the Taifun GT top cap. Well worth the effort to adapt it IMO.

Have you seen these things? Handy as atty spacers for side-by-side rigs. They have quite a variety now.

Oh that's a great idea!

I need to solve another problem with the ignition and that is that the pin is VERY deep in it and it doesn't seem exactly adjustable. I should have gotten 2 so I could take one apart ;)

@TheWestPole If you get one of those heat dissipation caps could you measure the voltage drop? I hear tales of woe with that and those on that but would like conformation. I have some ideas for those suckers if the VD isn't too bad :)

What did you guys do to the taifun top cap to fit it to the orchid design?
You must have had to cut the post that extends down but how did you go about getting an oring in it to seal on the chimney pipe? Love the short look of that top cap.

I actually used an X-acto blade to carve a channel into the plastic and put an o-ring in there much like the original Orchid cap. It took a lot of patience and be VERY careful it's a damn sharp knife.

Hmmm... next time you are replacing the wick can you snap a pic and share?
Not sure where you are cutting for the oring. Assuming the pipe gets cut off with a dremel, next step is what I am unsure of. Thanx.

That look is hawt... need it :)

I am well versed in slicing fingers with a hobby knife over the years :D

Edit...
Ok, so just cut the post. Carve a slot out of the base of the cap for an oring to push up into like the OG orchid top cap. Didn't like that design but it may be worth going back to for the nano cap.

Atty pin is NOT adjustable. Here's my post when I first got my Ignition:

A couple of shots of the construction:

tBIK1y9.jpg 08nogkg.jpg

I had issues with the innards on mine. Going to retrofit a Fatdaddy spring-loaded core on the atty side, and a more secure adjustable pin on the mod side. FIY, the bottom cap is a slip fit with a little bit of glue. If you unscrew the mod connector pin and plate you can gain access to tap the bottom cap free.

Okay, will check. A couple of aluminum ones are waiting at home, but I won't be back to check them out for 10 days.
