Speaking of raymo... saw the g2 on sale, is that a must have ray? Its hard to pull the trigger on any purchases when i have to work overtime to buy any new toys but it seems like a really good builder's mod

The heat turns them a bit grayish/muted in color on the ss316L. Mine start off shiny silver at first also. Maybe Azriel's using some of that uber super duper gold plated ss316 lmfao. J/k, looks like it's reflecting the light in a way that gives it a gold shine in the pics. They look like brand new coils so should be like polished chrome silvery looking acting like mirrors.

Those coils, damn. Great photos of them as well. Raymo2u, you enter an almost zen like state of meditation wrapping those don't you? Lmao, I have just about enough patience for a basic single or twisted coil. Fast n' nasty wrap it, stuff it and vape it. I'll just admire yours and appreciate the patience you must have.

It becomes a relaxing activity after a good while of doing it....It requires time, patience and then its much easier. Just keep up the good work and have fun with it and soon Im sure anyone here that wants to build something eccentric they will without issue. ;)

I can't wait till my ss wire gets here. That's when I will really get to play with my new drill. That's when the real fun starts

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

I dry fired them to make sure they were ramping up evenly before I wicked them.

Funny, they don't look golden to me.

I guess the flash from my iPhone did make them look a little different than in person.

Today's Build...Staggered Staple Something Fused with Staged Heating...:D
Ive been trying my hand at editing the pictures but not trying to exaggerate or make it disproportional...bare with me! My phones camera is severly scratched up so all my pics are over exposed even with the exposure turned down, I use editing to fix that and make things more vibrant like how they are when seen with your eyes rather then looking through a fuzzy lens.

SPECS: 8 x .5R/3 x .4R/38KA1/40KD + 24g 316L SS

Just finished this build up...A Fused Staggered Staple/Clapton Variant.
This build was a pain in the ass to say the least...This is basically 2 Staggered Fused claptons with a Staple in the Center but its all Fused as one...the hard part was to get the fuse in right without and magnification.

Specs: 10 x .4R/26N80/38NKD/44KD (Single Coil - 4 Wraps/3.5mm ID @ .07 Ohms)

It depends on the metal used and how hot you make them...thats what makes the colors. You want to take your rda and wash it with warm water and dawn soap with a toothbrush. Then without touching the coils at all, put it on your mod. Start at around 40w and pulse in a dark area of a room. Get the hot spots out without getting them too warm....the hotter they get the different colors will be shown but if your not careful or you heat them up too fast or hot, or if there is a hotspot you can easily blow right through those colors....At first I kept blowing through colors and never could get them to show, with some practice I have gotten it down. Its MUCH easier with a regulated mod as you can set the wattage extremely low and then pulse slowly and evenly so you can get them colored nicely. For the Light baby blue-fire orange-pink use Kanthal D, for Blues and Purples I would use Nichrome80, Blue-Green-Reds with SS and they all will vary in hue and how vibrant they can get in each color.

They have to be as clean as possible...even your clothing or anything touching them can cause the coloration to be discolored or not appear at all...Just pulse and as soon as it starts to glow a very light orange let off...check the colors, repeat but slowly get it warmer each time until your color of choice is desired.

Another half double. This time I fused it with 44g. I couldn't finish the whole 12" length in one day because I felt like I was going blind without magnification lol.
64eeaaca04e92029f7b28e14db59c770.jpg

(Light distortion from the stack. And some wetness on the coils)
Also. Anybody got any suggestions on how I should finish this? So far it's an 8 ply .5x.1mm/38g staple, with 4 ply .4x.1mm split out 2 ply on both sides, space groove fused with 44g.

Ok the best build I have ever done as far as vapor production and flavor....I was bored as my daughter watched Anastasia for the 106th time I took 3 strands of 28g stainless twisted all of them together(make sure the are exactly the same length or it will bubble) 9 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit and she ohms out @ .18

::Series Build::
DO NOT REPLICATE WITHOUT PROPER KNOWLEDGE!
~3x32//40g Aliens paralleled with a classic 30/36g Clapton
~3mm inner diameter
~.32Ω

I try my best to avoid building Aliens w/ such small cores just because the outer wire likes to fight me sometimes. Today happened to be quite painless in that respect. Build came together quite easily, though VERY springy! The two extra wraps with the single core claptons was perfect. The centers heat up evenly and i got a nice, mild staged-heating effect towards the outside of the coils. The result is a coil that kicks out vapor for as long as you care to hold down the button. No "burnt end of the hit" like a lot of series builds (especially staged-heating builds). VERY happy with the results of this build. Flavor is well-rounded and super intense. Vapor production is just ridiculous. Sitting in the Blackout TwistedMesses Squared RDA.
Cheers!!

Okay, you talked me into it - I GOTTA try this one. I'll use the LG HB6 batteries for it. They're only 1500 mah, but they're true 30 amp cells so they should be able to handle the 0.32 resistance. And yeah, I bet they were quite springy! Even 30g cores can be a bit tricky to coil sometimes. I use it for my 1.0Ω Aliens. KA1 cores and N80 outer?

You won't be disappointed! It's all N80, i failed to mention it. The devil's in the details haha

i gotta step up my game. i have trouble with 28g aliens. is there a trick or something specific im doing wrong that causes like one or two bad wraps on every set of aliens i make? i can never get a full stretch of it made perfectly. im thinking my clapton in the first step is not perfect, or sometimes i have trouble de-coring them and possibly damaging the wraps? theres always one or two little blips in my wraps :(

I've had that happen if the first clapton has flaws, actually you can see it in the closeup shot above. I always hold my wire at a slight backwards angle to make sure they're perfectly wrapped. I keep a lot of tension so that it forces the wraps to fall as close together as possible. I used 40g for these, and i wasn't planning on shooting them haha, its much easier with 38 or 36g. I normally make my aliens with 38g, it just happens to be the most agreeable for me. One other little trick i do is i wrap the first inch or two very spaced out on the first clapton. That way i can see the wraps slide when i'm loosening them. If you give it a little wiggle room you'll know when they're ready to come off. I also find it helpful not to let go of the outer wire after it stops spinning. I undo the chuck and slide em off without letting go, so the clapton won't spring back into a tight wrap before i slide it off. I hope that helps a little!

Another thing is to not try to keep your de-cored Clapton wire at a 90 degree angle when you apply it to the cores. Lean it FORWARD just a degree or two. That will help with the "blips". And like Scarecrow said, you really need to start out with a perfect, tight Clapton. Otherwise, any imperfections will cause problems when you put it back on the cores.

My 2nd try at fused claptons, 1st try with 40g wrapping.
2x 24g SS316L wrapped in 40g Nichrome. Coils are 8 wrap 3mm ID @.12 ohms and i am quite pleased with the end result.
VERY nice work - they look great!

nothing like a clean looking first try. well done

looking good as always @Iliketurtles

i made a pretty nice set of aliens last night with the advice i got here helping me. they are probably my best set so far...then i broke my alleria chimney installing them (they were a tiny bit too big). grrr. no pics. i put them in the boreas for now and made some staples for the alleria (and stomped off to bed feeling stupid lol).
