My 2nd try at fused claptons, 1st try with 40g wrapping.
2x 24g SS316L wrapped in 40g Nichrome. Coils are 8 wrap 3mm ID @.12 ohms and i am quite pleased with the end result.
Good combo in gauges.

Okay, you talked me into it - I GOTTA try this one. I'll use the LG HB6 batteries for it. They're only 1500 mah, but they're true 30 amp cells so they should be able to handle the 0.32 resistance. And yeah, I bet they were quite springy! Even 30g cores can be a bit tricky to coil sometimes. I use it for my 1.0Ω Aliens. KA1 cores and N80 outer?
Its not the "same build" but similar, but even if it was its one sexy build! These are one of my favorite build styles and I dont see them enough, not many people can pull them off cleanly..especially with gauges over 42g+So I'm kinda pissed Ray literally just posted this build haha. First attempt at a groove fused staple stagger fused.
Did not come out the way I wanted it to. No magnification, I ended up skipping every other wrap instead of getting the right grooves. Next time I'll try with 46g instead of 44g

Some Goodies from the last few days!View attachment 55863
It was for Independence Day and was comprised of SS/N80 and Kanthal....I was hoping it would color to Red/Silver and Blue but it didnt turn out as close as I hoped it would...its all 24gThe hammered twisted looks dope, chunky as fuck and as a bonus you get to hammer stuff woo!
How did you pulse it?I was hoping it would color to Red/Silver and Blue but it didnt turn out as close as I hoped it would
Like I do just about every other build, 30w to get hotspots out and then jumped up to 50w on the G2 after washing and scrubbing it but I dont think I was checking it as often as I should have...How did you pulse it?
Its hilarious how long these batteries last
On another note, my +pos screw on my Tm2 seems to just keep screwing up into the deck, if i want to tighten it down onto a mod the screw go's up into the deck a little and the deck seems loose! anyone else had this issue or know if this is a common fault?
Today i get to throw my swivels away, my USAohm Meters SpinLT came in today. I'm at a loss for words, this thing is AMAZING.
It's a sturdy 3D printed fella, with two Bones Red bearings. I've made 3ft of Aliens with it in the last 1/2 hour and i could not be happier. It spins SILKY freakin' smooth. From single cores to triple cores i get ZERO twisting of the cores. I wrapped Aliens with the drill on full speed and ended with one full twist on a foot of wire and the cores stayed perfectly level from end to end. I got no twisting towards the far end which is a common problems with even brand new swivels binding up. By far the best $30 i've spent in a long time. I'll probably write a full review on this in a couple weeks, after i spin a bit more wire. VERY HAPPY.
I was thinking of trying some Fat Daddy Bearings in it after a few days to see the difference if there is any to be seen. They are ceramic, affordable, and many hobby shops have them in stock for the HPI BajaIf you are getting some skate bearings get ceramics they are quite a bit smoother than bones reds. They are expensive though
You lucky jerk! It was well worth the money. It spins amazingly, even with a single 28g core it gave me no troubles. You can blow on it and it moves haha, its that smoothI couldnt beleive it when they asked to sponsor me yesterday, Im pretty excited to try it myself!! Im pleased they made this design along side the Prospin type design....the SpinLT is more my style. You could also use a lighter lube in the bearings if you plan on using higher RPM drills or thicker oils if you are using under 800rpms to preserve the bearings...Its not to be able to also to be able to buy some Skateboard bearings if you ever need to replace them!
I've got two of em and i haven't had that issue. Generally with 2 post drippers you can't mess with the 510 because it will loosen the positive post. On either my dotmod or my tm2 i never turn that screw more than 1/2 turn for that reason

The new drill I have gets as high as 1800rpm on the highest speed (no load), the first speed is more like my older drills max speed which was around 800rpm, I figured it would be cool to test different settings and loads with multiple angles, weighted pull force and speeds compared to using the swivels I was/am using now...It should be a great upgrade though for any builder and its great that it isnt crazy expensive! Its hard to say if it would be noticeable on a drill rig as the loading is so different but it is very noticeable on a board. Skate bearings aren't designed for very high rpm but they are probably in the same kind of range as drill speeds so should be awesome. I had thought about anchoring my swivels in a wheel bearing if they got snatchy, but they never really have. I have always used skate bearing grease in the swivel bearings though
I was just thinking that. But then I thought, hell no, my Swiss ceramics are staying on my long board. I am not screwing with those haha. If anything, I'd put my bones Swiss 6 ball bearings in. Or id buy a set of bones reds just bc they're cheap and reliable. Just make sure to lube them up and you'll be good.If you are getting some skate bearings get ceramics they are quite a bit smoother than bones reds. They are expensive though
Noice. Where, pray tell, did you pick that up?So I wanted something affordable for single coil builds to use with the single 18650 tubes I have. Finally found a Tobeco version of the Aeronaut. It's the only clone (that I am aware of) that actually has the clamps instead of screws. Just a simple Alien build in it.

Thanks chefThe Stingray I got in a trade here on VU, and the Aeronaut clone from Eciggity
What do you think about throwing that on the cricket? Still havent tried a single coil series build
It looks like it should be okay - here's a few shots of the posi pin:

I haven't put the Aeronaut clone on the NC yet, but I have it on a Tarsius Prime (hybrid tube mod), and so far so good. What do you think about throwing that on the cricket? Still havent tried a single coil series build
Awesome build in the Alleria, that's pretty high voltage though. I don't think I've ever run that high of a voltage before without burning my cotton.love the tube setup @CrazyChef.
so i got my shuriken today but i am having trouble deciding what to put in it. it feels like the clamps are designed for staple variants, so ill probably try my first ssfc or maybe a stapled helix. while i was pondering that, i did some chores. i usually run 28/38 gauge fused claptons on my petri/noisy cricket, but i decided to try them in 30/40 today. 4/5 wraps at 3mm, .44ohms. i figured they would heat up faster than my usual 6/7 wrap 28 gauge fc, but wow. this is possibly the most reactive build i have tried. i jumped a little the first time i fired it with juice on it.

i put a 2.5mm/.42ohm set into the alleria and i run it at about 5.3v on a regulated mod and its very nice too.

Yeah, it's definitely meant for flat builds. Even aliens, fused Claptons and various staple variants will work well in that.so i got my shuriken today but i am having trouble deciding what to put in it. it feels like the clamps are designed for staple variants
@midknight420 i figured if it works at noisy cricket voltage, it should be fine at this voltage. so far so good, half a tank in
Nice work!Ok the best build I have ever done as far as vapor production and flavor....I was bored as my daughter watched Anastasia for the 106th time I took 3 strands of 28g stainless twisted all of them together(make sure the are exactly the same length or it will bubble) 9 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit and she ohms out @ .18

Hi, how it's the flavor in the alleria with the notch, i have the theorem with one and the flavor it's almost none.Technically I built this but since they're notch coils I didn't make the actual coils

Its a massive improvement up from swivels...If you have it bolted down and at the same height as the drill then the wire doesnt sway or wiggle like swivels sometimes do....it spins wire perfectly. It handled 1800rpm from a dead stop and then back to 0 without any wire warping, Im sure it will be the same with your 3000rpm drill also.Awesome! I ordered one a few days ago, but they're a bit slow on shipping. I'm sure the wait will be well worth it! I have a 900 RPM cordless and a 3,000 RPM corded that I use.
Im hoping to get my camera setup and download a editing app so I can make a small "Vs." type of clip and then make some 32g/40g Aliens with both my Swivels and the SpinLT....that should show a big difference in how the wire acts when spinning, the changes in wire due to the resistance of spinning, and then how the end result looks.thats a very impressive test result @raymo2u, they made a good choice when they sponsored you. i bet you are already generating interest and sales. ill be ordering one asap my setup right now would make most of you guys cringe lol
