So, I decided I'd try to do a little extra experimentation with my triple gauge twisted wires. This is boredom taking over, when all I feel like doing is twisted coils. I'm not big into all the intricate stuff, because I want to be able to build and install within an hour lol.
This was the original idea I had. Twisted 28, twisted 25, and a single piece of 24, all twisted together. The flavour on this coil was beyond belief. It didn't heat up too much, the flavour was just about as perfect as possible, and it was so smooth. Definitely recommend this for single coil builders. Mine came out just over a .2 for resistance, so it's definitely mech friendly.
I was wondering how I could make that first one more interesting, so my coworker told me to try making it into a chain, or interlocked style. This was what happened. The taste of this coil isn't really great, which sucks. On the other hand, I think it may have been due to something being caught in the coils. It almost tastes slightly burnt, but I can't really figure out why, or what it is. It is possible that it's just a bit too hot...
For this one, I basically remade the original one, but with a slight change; I flattened the twisted strands in the drill press, and then twisted everything together. Unfortunately, didn't think too far ahead, and put it in my Doge... which means absolutely zero clearance. If it had a taller sidewall, and a chuff that didn't cut into the build space, I'd have wicked and vaped it; sadly, this will short out due to clearance problems. At least I was able to fire it, read it (around .25 ohms), and I get to see the final product.
Don't really know of anything really different I can try, before I start getting into multi-hour builds, or needing some specialised tools. I'll be sure to post the next round of boredom therapy, for grins.
