I've tried some of these "hip twists" but the ramp up time is like 'I can do a load of laundry and come back and still wait'. Am I doing something wrong ? I'm hitting either a Phimis tri coil or a Tobh Atty. Both 26650. I find the basic 4-5 wrap 26 awg @ about 3-4 ohms hits the best regardless if it's fruity or custardy. Some of these coils can make both RDA's really hot. The Phimis actually tones down the hard "hard nic" hit compared to my Tobh regardless of the coil. I can do 9-12 mg of nic on the Phimis but in the Tobh it can be like when you're roasting chili's on an open flame in your kitchen. But Mr. Anticlone, Scarecrowjenkins and Nameonawall those builds look really nice and clean. But like I said, the ramp up time for me is too long. I need it yesterday immediately instantaneously.
Very true. I just like the challenge and aesthetics, don't really care how they vape :D When doing a daily driver build, i usually stick with the simple things.

Like scarecrow said, building low will yield the best performance especially if you're using a high wattage (100 watt) mod. If I am using a mech mod, I build simple 22 guage, 5 wrap micro dual coils for tons of vapor. On my IPV3, I run single coils from .6-.9ohms with twisted wire for ridiculous flavor.

image.jpg Gave quads a chance and I've been vaping this for a few weeks and it's my new favorite. Used 24g kanthal with 6 wraps on each came out to 0.13 ohms

Triple coils. Five wraps of 24 gauge around 3mm ID each. 0.2 ohms according to my ohm reader. Pretty simple build, but getting that symmetry down can be tricky.

I want an OKR box, or just a series box in general, soooo badly, but I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. So in preparation of actually purchasing one, I've been on a single coil kick. Also threw a .12 dual center post build on my other mutation for 100%vg shits and giggles with the roommates. I love building single coils, and I love any reason to dig out my trusty old igo-w's to build on.

KA1 round wire, 24ga, 2 full, 2 half. I think my meter is broken because it says .09Ω

I do actually have my doubts about that. Check again, this time with a DNA40 device. They are dead accurate, because the whole temperature control depends on that.

(If you are talking to me... kind vague there.)Sure, wanna send me one! I can't afford one of those, and mechs are my preference anyways.

My first build single coil with double wrap of 24 gauge with single wrap 28 gauge around it. Wrapped around a 3mm screwdriver got around 0.44 this was suppose to been a wickless build but the juice didn't last long so I just added some cotton to it. The dripper I have had 4 - 1mm holes I drilled them out to 2mm still not enough air flow. not sure if I should drill the holes bigger.

About the size of my garage door spring. What are you firing it on ? I'm thinkin the ramp up time on my 26650 atty will be about 10 minutes. Drain the shit out of my battery......but then i'll have a drink and a vape and change batteries

Tried out some Arsenal wire tonight. Basically some form of nichrome, i can't find out anywhere exactly. Anyways here's the specs on this lil fella:

2 strands arsenal 24g twisted
One groove helix'd with 30g kanthal
3 strands 36g nichrome 80 twisted together
Then twisted 3 of those together and ran it through the other groove in the twisted arsenal wire

12 wires total.
4 wraps around a #0 yellow stanley phillips head clocks in at exactly .2 ohms

Notes:
The 36g spiral wire seems to do an outstanding job of keeping the juice flowing throughout the coil. The sheer number of juice channels involved in this coil lends itself to dense, flavorful vapor. And lots of it.
I guess the only thing that surprised me was the temperature of the vape, it is on the cooler side of warm. Even after handful of draws the atty is considerably cooler than most .2 ohm builds. The ample surface area of the coil helps provide a shit-ton (scientific term) of vapor. The photo above was just a 1 sec pull.

Final thoughts:
If you enjoy tons of flavor and a lot of vapor-without so much heat then you'd probably enjoy this coil. Also-this coil performs calmly, hardly any popping. This would make a really nice all day coil, and/or great for a night out where you need to cram a VERY satisfying experience into a very short period of time. The nichrome cuts down a LOT on the resistance, this would probably be a .3+ coil if it were all kanthal.
Thanks for reading :p

Heres my build on my Mutation X V3. It's 28ga 10 wraps 2.6mm which comes out to .8ohms
Mutation%2010%20wrap_zpsf5d1a88w.jpg

And my Infinite CLT V2 Plus...26ga 11 wraps 2.6mm .6ohms
Infinite%2011%20wrap_zpsvpnlh2lt.jpg

Just basic builds but they work well for me.

I just purchased an OKRT10 box, so I've been building nothing but single coils. Loving the flavor I'm getting on these builds. First picture is .62ohms on the atomic and the second picture is .70ohms on the mutation x v2.

Ok tried my first twisted kanthal build. Built it on my Squape Reloaded and is twisted 30ga for 8 wraps which comes out to 1.7 ohms. A bit higher then I wanted but haven't been able to find any info on calculating ohms when using twisted wire so I figured I'd just take a guess. It's not bad but .8-1.2 would be better. Maybe go with twisted 28ga? This has the surface area I want and the flavor is good just a bit high in the ohms.

Edit: Ok checked steam engine again and found a setting for twisted kanthal so all is good now. Twisted 26ga at 9 wraps should be .8 ohms according to the calculator.

Sleeper wasn't my cup of tea, maybe I didn't wick it well enough, oh well. 24g dual parallel 7 wraps on 3mm screwdriver, .20 ohms, she's a beast!

I had a few extra scraps sitting around and decided to just throw them together in pinch. Its ugly as all hell but its possibly the best single coil cloud chucker Ive ever made, lol...

This is what 30g of twisted ribbon looks like when its then twisted up and wrapped with 26g. Used a 3/32 drill bit and its reading at about .3
Im guessing the twisted ribbon created a bunch of juice pockets. Flavor is so so but I'm digging the clouds it's throwing.

This was from a while back. The only reason I never vaped it was because it was on my Doge, and I couldn't fit the top cap on :(

IMG_0006.JPG
This was an interlocked collaboration with a coworker, then we remade it for my Kennedy (probably the best combination of coil/atty I've used to date).

11078092_630215753779686_5493490499587358128_n.jpg
Here's what happens when I build when bored. Believe it or not, it ohms out to .39, and as a single coil it hits like a dual coil would in my TugBoat. My boss loved this build after one rip. Somehow, both flavour and vapour production are equally impressive with minimal effort. Twist up some 24g, grab your drill press and toothless pliers, and smooth it out. This is probably the most effective coil I've made so far, and probably the best tasting of all the coils I'd say are relatively easy to make. Going to start working on variations of this one now ;)

Here's 3 strands of 26g, twisted and flattened. Possibly a little better than my twisted 24g.

uploadfromtaptalk1429683889567.jpg
Proof of concept wire... Going to be remade properly (had no drill, so used the press), and then finished, the next time I'm in the shop. Might not hit too well, but definitely looks awesome. Going to play with it quite a bit, and see what comes of it.

24g Kanthol hammered flat paralled with ribbon wire that is twisted up with 26g. 3/32 bit at about .3 Ohms. Awesome flavor and good clouds for a single.
