I loved rayon, and used it for a while.... Until I was told #1 it's synthetic cotton #2 when it burns it's toxic.....

Still doesn't burn. You'd have to do it on purpose.
You can tell when the flavor goes light. You can hit it over and over again till the wicks are dry and it still not burn.
That's how I get my wicks clean after a week or so.

Why would you inhale burning rayon?
Every time you vape the rayon burns a bit, if it wasn't burning it would remain white .... Well it doesn't right ? It's also a combination of burning ejuice that's trapped in the coil....

Inhaling burning ejuice and burnt rayon is being filtered by your lungs.... This is why they developed temperature control.....

Juicy Lucy can explain better the dangers of rayon... She got me off it....

You can get it dry by hitting it but it takes alot to actually burn it.

I'm not saying it's a perfect replacement for cotton. But it is a solution to weeping tanks if you know not to let your juice run dry. It burns at almost 800° F which would take alot to get there if you started with a saturated wick.
That's just short of steel glowing.

Even after the coil has crusted over and the ramp up takes twice as long, the rayon will still be white.

@raymo2u how to you keep all your wire staked when wrapping. I trained building a framed staple and couldn't keep it from falling apart

Just a framed staple is easier than a stagger.
All I do is stack my ribbon and lick it, loop through the swivel, bend the frame to match the bend in the ribbon and throw it on the swivel. Now pull it all straight and bind the loose end and then the swivel end.

If the frames act funky I'll throw a paperclip on it but it's not usually necessary.

Raymo2u's method is way different. Mine doesn't work on staggered frames. Not yet.

I also use the ribbon sliders and keep a hawks eye while spinning

I loop about 2 inches or Ribbon through my swivel and then just twist it like I would for any other core, some with the drill side but the opposite direction...but before I do that I use the Ribbon sliders to keep the Ribbon I will wrap straight..So have one at both ends directly after where the ribbon exits the drill and slider. (This is only when Ribbon is not Framed)

22/34g vapes awesome.
So does fused 24/36 or 38g.

Wicking's easy. Fluff as much as you can, cut it to sit flush on the deck and just sit it on the hole.
I do this with rayon and mine are leak proof. I sleep with them on their sides.

When you say just sit it on the hole, you mean you do not go completely through? Using native wicks platinum btw.
I had it working great yesterday. Did a new build and cannot for the life of me repeat the same results

Screw You.

You don't bind the ribbon at all do you?
It just floats in the middle and the sliders keep it from falling out, right?

Yes. Just fluff and cut it as short as possible. You should now have what looks like a big poof with a flat spot.
Now just sit that flat spot over the hole.

It will probably take a few tries before you get the angle just right when you cut it.
You want all the strands sitting flush on the deck with as little extra as possible.
If you stuff the hole it will wick slower.
Cotton is just finicky like that.

More fluff is more better. I use a nylon brush to fluff with.

This works on almost any RTA. It's the only way I could get my Griffin 25 just right so it could wick fast and not dribble.

Edit: I forgot to mention this.
When you're using clapton, alien, staples, etc it's good to get the cotton tighter in the coil than you would on round wire.

Not exactly a new build but I got a new camera phone and macro lens. Still playing with it and will build something maybe in a week. The photo is unedited. Just cropped.

@raymo_2_u damn the 15x macro made all the difference.

What size is the wrap?

My bad, I wasn't paying attention.
I've done 2 interlocks so far. 36g and 38g over 2 x 24g.
Why can I see through your wrap and into the ribbon?
Are you doing something different or does that just happen when it goes over a staple?
That's my only goal with interlocks.
I was going to try 38g over 27g and then alien over a 10 ply. Should I do something else?

Not anywhere near some of the gorgeous builds I see on here, nor do I have EXACT ID because I tend to grab whatever I have near me that's about the size I want... 2 sets of 3 strands of clockwise twisted 28g Kanthal twisted together counter clockwise. 6 1/2 wraps around a #0 philips head screwdriver (~3.2mm) Single coil came out around .32ohm (replaced it because I wasn't getting the kind of vape I wanted off it, not enough airflow on that particular RDA for my taste on this coil) Overall I love this coil build with more airflow and higher wattages though.IMG_0084.JPG

What kind?
Between VU and ECF I've come across a few great vendors.
The only thing I can't get cheap is ribbon but $8 for 100' isn't that bad. Raymo has the cheapest ribbon hook up by far.

I've ordered from Temco 3 times. The first 2 times I ordered an assortment of lengths and gauges and they messed up and gave me almost double. The last time was just 1000' of 36g n80 and some 0.4mm ribbon...not much room for confusion.
