What's this one I've just made?View attachment 65709View attachment 65710
Pretty confident I can do enough for some coils
If that ribbon wire on its edge its called a Razorback Alien. They are EXTREMELY popular right now

becuase they are so popular I havent posted much of what Ive built with the razor wire because I feel it wont be appreciated as much as it would if I wait until everything dies down..

Ive done the Mohawk and a few other builds but Ill just post a wire shot for now

I'm having some trouble fusing SSFC. I'm using Raymo's method with the frames floating but I used paperclips in place of the sliders. Last time I did the sliders and I thought I messed up the spacing putting them on.
It goes good until it doesn't and then it's so hard to put it in the groves after it's been bent.
My drill doesn't do slow. I have a drill that will turn slowly but sometimes it stops working and then starts again. I feel like it would be better if I could slow down.
But if you take out the ribbon I can stagger just fine.

Oh well.

EDIT: That's an encredible coil there Qlippoth. Pretty original.

You and me man. I tilted to hard yesterday and Binned so many staggertons. Also bit more than I could chew. Went straight to 38g/40g stagger and fuse. I had a terrible migraine after.

I dunno bro, that build looks good

When i first made it i got all excited, then i thought i had made just a tsuka. I also made another one with about an inch of mohawk but instead of the mohawk sitting nice and straight they were trying to sit a little off set from the last one, so i suppose the way to go is to sit the mohawks with gaps between them so they all sit on top in a straight line, i dunno lol, i will try to post the pic but its real bad quality bc i didnt take the pics for posting but just to be able to see what the wire is doing, my eyes are getting bad with the poor light this time of year

Can someone define a staggerton for me? Is it where you use a ribbon core with spaced clapton and fuse over that with more wire on either side?

I tried doing that but the ribbon had a twist in it when I finished.

EDIT: You only think that coil looks good because of how I coiled it. The bottom is fuuuuucked up. So is the other coil. I never let an over lap go but if I miss a few rungs I'm ok with it.
I'm in the pursuit of a better vape, looks are secondary.

Here's my problem with SSFCs. The exposed ribbon gives me more throat hit vs a staple but the frames slow down the heating. More throat hit means I'm evaporating more juice.
So far a stalien with 36g is the best all around coil. Lites up quick with little power, wicks fast, lots of flavor and cloud density.
Any variation with frames sacrifices one for another.

You know before April I had that same exact attitude...I was just about the same place you are in building also..I hated Ribbon builds, I barely made anything more then Framed Staples, fused claptons and other odd builds just claptoning things together...I finally got aliens down, crazychef and others persuaded me to join Instagram and now Ive got 6 real sponsors, a company that sells my coils, a pretty crazy amount of followers in a small amount of time, youtube publicity and more...
Join IG....build a reputation and see where it takes you. Its just a picture gallery where others can view and like/comment on your work and you can see what others are doing for inspiration.

A Staggerton is a Staggered Core that is framed with materials like Ribbon or Round wire and fused together, filling the cores gaps. There are a few variants also.

A SSFC is a stack of Ribbon with staggered frames and fused together

All the decks are compatible with the new limitless RDTA and the limitless comes with the post less and the RBA base so I might have to get that too now.
New limitless?
The plus or something else. If they fit in the plus I'm getting the clamps.

I know it is. I want one but I've heard the screws may be too short. Care to comment? I read that on launch so they could have changed it.
I need an RDTA with a goon deck.

alright so the 2x28g alien does work with a 30g de-core... but i tried making the de-core with my jig and its too tight to get the core out... i can de-core a 28 made with my jig no problem but it looks like I'm going to have to do these the old fashioned way.

Jig?

When you're done wrapping the decore just grab the end and reverse the drill. I don't have anything good to cut 28g+ with so I have to smooth out the tip first. :(

I have a clapton jig-rig from vaped3d for doing long lengths of simple wires so i can save the frustration for wrapping harder things by hand lol.

When you say reverse it am i holding the core as if straightening or am I holding the wrap and spinning it off?

Am I the only person that finds running a few feet of clapton soothing? Lol.
Especially the smaller gauges. ;)

I'm a jittery person...and a leg tapper.
If I'm shaking really bad while the clapton is happening I know I need to go do something else before I start the alien.

I like them alot but I'm not in love with them.
Look how big the deck is and how small the posts and holes are.
The plastic top cap is easily broken. 2 of my 3 are JB Welded to the metal AFC ring.

When I compare it to the Cthulhu v3 I have a hard time believing they cost the same or even close. There was very little machining required on the Limitless so there's no reason for some of it's downfalls.

I want a bottom airflow Avocado too.

If I had the tools I could make the best RTA and RDTA ever.

Looks cool but I'd wrather have the Combo.
It comes with the clamp deck. I think it's cool that you could buy 3 or 4 decks and rotate builds. It breaks my heart when I have to remove a coil.

I don't build claptons and stuff much these days. Not because I don't want to, but that I can't run the drill in my place at night with my toddler in the next room sleeping. I've run lengths with a janky setup on top of the washer and drier in the laundry room of my apartment, but there is no where for me to secure my vise so if it moves my build is fucked. I was in the laundry room tonight...

I tried to do my first alien. 34g on 28g cores. Didn't get enough for a wrap (bunched on me every 4-5 cm. I was free handing the drill and stretching out my arm to keep the wire feeding down the length.), but looking at it under macro I didn't have the wraps close enough anyways. Did I under stretch?
JYYZeqf.jpgl

After the fail I just wanted to get something done so I ripped out a length of twisted fused. 26g cores, 30g wrap.

What did you use for the decore core wire?
Needs to be close to 3x smaller than your final wires.
But those gaps aren't bad. If you did it over a staple it would look great when coiled.

With 34g you need to really stretch it to keep the cores from bunching up.

About this much:

The smaller the wire the less I stretch it.
34g is thick so ut stacks really fast.
As you go smaller and smaller you'll need longer and longer pieces. The longer it is the more likely it is to snag or tangle so I try to stretch as little as possible.

If you've never done many aliens abd want to use 34g I'd recommend using 26g for the decore and 2x 24g frames.
It's hard to make the 24g twist up so you can focus on your technique.
36g is almost perfect for aliens but I had a hard time switching from 34g to 36g.
38g goes on very nice but you need really long pieces.

Oh and if you can drive a screw in the wall somewhere in the laundry room you can sit on the floor and screw your swivels into the wall. Mine is screwed into a board and clamped to my desk so I can raise and lower it.
