Got the Springer RDA a few days ago...its pretty surprising IMO..

This was probably the easiest install I've ever had with a RDA as it uses automotive grade springs to push the posts closed, you push them down and just insert your coils. I was skeptical that they wouldn't have enough pressure but man these things are firm as F $@K!! I tossed some 4 Clapton Cored Aliens inside in less then a minute flat and had no connection issues which I was impressed with. The domed topcap, goon tip compatible, 10+mm juice well and airflow options make this a great inexpensive option for people wanting a simple and reliable vape.

Appreciate the recipie! Hows it ramp up?

Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Im actually using it on a Hohm Wrecker G2 in Temp Mode...its the first time since I got the Hohm Wrecker that Ive used TC and Im actually pretty damn happy with how warm it is (150w/550F). In wattage mode I like it around 130w and the ramp up is instant...but thats the G2 for you. Onm a mech I would expect a slightly lagging ramp up and a decent amount of heat after it warms up but 30g (even with SS) isnt hot enough, even with 5 cores in a large RDA. If I was building for a Mech I would do 27g SS/46g N80 and use 42g interlocks for the alien Wrap (4 Wraps/3mm ID)

Also wanted to hare some product shots Ive made and build pics...Im started to get a real good feel for the camera and taking more time to edit all the tiny subtle flaws (dust/scratches/fingerprinting/shiny areas)

The springs are pretty tough, they aren't tiny at all and are supposed to be automotive grade. No current goes through them as they just sit inside the posts and with 2 walls of metal around them I doubt they will get hot enough to hurt their function but it does include spare springs just in case.

Yesterday I made a short clip on how quick an install is with preclip pedal leads with a 4 core alien (4 wraps/3mm id)...took less then 14 seconds to install both and they only needed to be corrected slightly, glowed evenly with no strumming or anything.
There really isn't much I don't like about it apart from the stock tip and post holes. I suggested they made a V2 with either all 4 big holes the same size or make a version with a rectangular hole cut all the way across where the holes are now...then you could easily mount any coil.

Some of these coils look like art pieces! I'd almost feel guilty for getting juice on em. That prob fades away quickly once you start vaping on these bad boys.

If you only have tension on the frames and the ribbon is just sitting in there, the ribbon won't collapse. Using 40g helps too.

40g is harder. It's almost half as thick so you have almost twice the gaps... No room for fuckery in the spacing. But you don't need tension to fuse it. Granted I started making SSFCs with 36g and never collapsed any of them but if you're using 0.3mm it's a good idea to step up the fuse gauge. Since using 40g it's by far my favorite, I rarely use anything else because it's just so easy to work with.

My previous attempt at ssfc turned out to be a flop. Ribbon collapsed somewhere along the way.

This set is servicible. Not remarkably clean, but will worry about that next time. Cant wait to fire them up.
Good perspective after all the vape is what should matter most! Theyll get better everytime.

@whiteowl84 are you suggesting 40g is easier to stagger? I figured the 36 would be easier. Will try 40 next time.
My (limited) experience has taught me that 36g Ni80 works five times easier than 40g. The first coil build that I ever did was a pair of staple staggered fused claptons, I actually built them four weeks after I started vaping─before I even learned how to make a regular clapton, and despite this they ended up looking like this:

second attempt of the sfc. 26*2 kanthal x 36 nichrome80.... not perfect but it will vape well and encouraging for my next attempt.5 wraps on 3mm reading .38 on the ammit single coil deck.

i am using the loop for the spacing on the cores and freehanding the fuse.

I use the loop method also and the weight .. After throwing all my staggered builds away because spacing not matching i went to good old wasteful paraclap..

Nice mate great job! Let me know how they vape with ramp up might just have to have a go at these myself!
Ramp up is much better with thinner clapton for sure and a thinner alien but a 28 or 26g core claptoned with 40g and the alien being 36g-40g works very well...saturated warm draws every time.

The middle core wire on mine is 30g ss and both outside core wires are kanthal. Was thinking the ss would help speed it up

I'm almost ashamed to post these after some of the builds we've seen here, but what the hell. My first build: 24g KA1, 5 wraps, ohms out at .25 for the pair on my Innokin Eurus. They vape pretty good at 30 watts. I finally solved my spitback problem for now at least, now I need to try to mix up some better tasting juice. :)

Aaaand here we go!

What are they going into? They look HUGE lol. And time consuming to make. Are these types of coils worth the effort?? Or is this strictly for the vape porn addict in all of us?

Actually the normal versions I make with the 36g wrap is my personal favorite vape of all time aside from 5x28g/40g SS Aliens. If your into regulated mods then you wont notice any difference as you can adjust the power output but for the enthusiasts that use mechs mainly this is the ultimate build for flavor and clouds.

The 5x28g/36g Alien Staggerton is very warm, especially with SS Cores which I prefer, its also a low resistance build at .07 (SS Cores 4 Wraps/3mm ID).
The math and science behind it is memorizing....a alien by itself provides extra wicking/juice holding, 3 cores to ramp up and shed heat and the outer wrap determines how hot it gets or how slow it ramps up...
With the Alien staggertons your getting even more cores so ramp up is lightning quick but there is also more wrapping on it for more juice holding and faster wicking providing more saturation when drawing. Having the core separated the way they are also is key....3 together heating up and one on each side further apart heating up with inlets between.. 36g allow for a slightly slower ramp up (heatsink effect) so its not too too hot....its not just a dick measuring contest, its one of the best builds ever IMO.

Ive made them with 30g SS cores for smaller RTAs and RDA, tried many wrap styles, they can be made to fit anything and manipulated to fire how ever you want using different cores together and different wrap sizes...giving the ultimate amount of choices aside from normal staggertons.
Most Recent to First...there so many in between but showing most of the variations:

In regards to showing off...this is showing off. The Alien Staggerton Ive made for over a year straight and not a single other person has made even a single coil perfect and then I made it my mission to teach others to overcome the fear of trying to make them. With some pushing Ive gotten atleast a dozen other builders who just barely started making basic aliens into making them and most of them have had great success....with a easy to follo routine and a simple look at how to make them it becomes easy. I make them in my livestreams on Instagram almost every session, so if your interested just tune in there.

I tried the button with the spool on a spool tamer and completly automated the spaced core process, however that is kinda a pain to set up and the loop around a finger works just as well with less set up time.

If you're only doing round wire and you already have the spool tamer why not just leave the button out and use the spool tamer for spacing?
